3. Keep the Maturity Tag *AND* have Content Classification

   I think the new content classification feature is an incredibly useful tool to have. Allowing creators to specify their content and giving an audience the ability to know that a stream may have something that is not for them is great!

   As a streamer who is SFW and doesn't have any content that would fall under these classifications, though, the loss of the maturity tag means that I am losing a valuable feature to keep my community safe.

   Why I don't want children in my space despite being completely SFW:
   It is a LOT of work to keep children safe when you are allowing them in your community. They are inherently vulnerable. Not every content creator is equipped or prepared to take on that burden. Allowing children into your space means that your moderation has to be VERY strict to protect them. Their brains are still developing and you have no idea what passing comment could stick with them forever. Not to mention that regardless of how well you try to curate your community, anyone can watch whisper children privately. It is not something every content creator is prepared to take on. Children are considerably more likely to form unhealthy parasocial attachments to you and not recognize your and this can make enforcing healthy, distant relationships considerably harder. Many streamers are not equipped to take on this burden and used the blanket moderation tool as a way to enforce this boundary.

   Why having the blanket "mature" tag in addition to the content classification labels is the safest option for many spaces:
   I sat in on the Patch Notes today and brought this up. The staff that was there offered a somewhat helpful alternative after clarifying that they are not considering both of these options together. This suggestion was:
   Use the freeform tags as a way to let people know your content isn't for kids.
   While this is helpful in a small way, many people completely miss these tags. Sure, kids may ignore all the messages anyway, but a parent monitoring their kid's watching habits and helping to determine which streams are safe for them may very well not notice a tag-- they WILL, however, notice a message on the screen letting them know that I have set the boundary with my community that it is intended for non-minors (Mature content warning). Removing this ability makes it considerably easier to violate this boundary on accident.

   I know MANY streamers who do not have the bandwidth to dedicate extra resources into moderating with children in mind, communicating with them in a way that doesn't impact them harmfully long term, and doing the extra steps to do what they can to help protect them from predators. In these cases, the blanket maturity tag allows us to easily and clearly set the boundary without risking it go unnoticed by parent OR child.

   How I would suggest implementing this:
   Just have both. The blanket maturity tag wouldn't absolve people of having to specify the kinds of mature content under the new standards for classification. It would just also allow those of us doing our best to keep communities safe by gently keeping children out a much easier time to enforce these boundaries.

   I'm also happy to speak to anybody further about why this is so important to me, or to connect you with other partnered/affiliated streamers who feel the same.

5. Regex filters and whitelist rules

   Given the widespread use of hostile bots on Twitch right now by bad actors, particularly those targeting LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities, it would be great if we could have a RegEx pattern block/ban/follow restriction option. A number of the accounts being spun up for the purpose of harassing and stealing the identities of streamers have consistent name patterns, and being able to issue a regex block/ban on those patterns would be useful.

   This sort of feature would obviously be something that streamers would have to use at their own risk. Overly inclusive block/ban patterns could potentially limit legitimate viewers. But for those of us who are more tech savvy, this could be a massive time-saver.

   On the same broad thrust, the ability to add users to a whitelist so as not to unfairly impact existing supporters of a channel, and either a temporal or behavioural filter which automatically adds users to a channel's whitelist would be useful. This could be a more effective approach than the current "followers only" or "subs only" chat options. More fine-grained control on the white-listing process would be appreciated.

   For example:
   Whitelist on account age
   Whitelist on x minutes/hours/days follow age
   Whitelist on x minutes/hours/days without mod action in <max> other channels
   Whitelist on x minutes/hours/days without automod action in current channel
   Whitelist on x minutes/hours/days without automod action in other channels

   This could perhaps be branded as an "advanced mod tools" option which can be unlocked by the streamer at the account level so those comfortable with the existing system could use that, but those needing more nuanced tools could have such systems made available on request.

6. Twitch, Amazon Music, Audio Fingerprint and DMCA Solution

   Recently a lot of streamers have been getting DMCA notices for streams that are 2-3 years old. 50 Cent - In Da Club has been flagged on many channels along with other music from RIAA. This is a problem because streamers are now scared of getting punished or banned off the platform for listening to the music they want to listen to. This is not good for the longevity of the platform if it wants to survive the entertainment industry.

   To be brutally honest, Twitch is not good for the music industry at all. If a streamer has 10,000 viewers and is listening to a song it only counts for one single stream/play/view instead of 10,000 which is what the music industry wants. They want to be able to claim more streams and plays on their songs as that's how they make money.

   Twitch is owned by Amazon, which also owns Amazon Music. Amazon needs to purchase rights to a larger range of music for their Music platform. Amazon is a TRILLION DOLLAR market cap company so I think they have more than enough funds to be able to purchase some streaming rights to more songs.

   With a wider range of music to play on the Music app, Twitch could implement Amazon Music within a broadcast and can then count viewers towards streams for the Music played.

   This will only work if the streamer is listening to the music through Amazon Music. If they are listening to a copyrighted song that's not on Amazon Music, then they should not broadcast unless they want the possibility of getting a DMCA notice. Amazon and Twitch can only enforce what is within their control.

   Another solution would be for Twitch to implement and use other music platforms such as Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Music and their streaming rights for music.

   Another solution is to use audio fingerprint matchers like Shazam to identify what music is being played in the background. Then counting the streamers viewers as listeners to whatever song is being played.

   Overall, Twitch needs to be able to match the music that's being played in a live stream and count the number of viewers/listeners the streamer has. If they cannot solve this streamers will not be able to broadcast while listening to their favorite music without getting a DMCA.

   I do not believe anyone within the past few weeks should have any sort of strike or punishment on their channel for past music DMCA/copyright notices.

7. CAPTCHA required during sign up

   It would be great if new users were required to fill out a CAPTCHA before making an account. It would help get rid of all the fake engagement and prevent mass of bot accounts from being made.

   Twitch use to have it in 2017, but it appears to be gone now - its unclear if removing CAPTCHA from account creation was intentional or accident.

8. Regarding the Hateful Conduct Policy, why is Twitch targetting the Streamers instead of the trolls who constantly harass us in every stream.

   I have reported over 600 fake troll accounts and yet STILL Twitch seem to refuse to do anything. NOW we find that if we complain or have a go at these trolls we can get banned ourselves ?

9. Private the server Twitch keeps all of the deleted VODs and clips on

   Evidence of the situation I describe will be at the end of this description.

   Twitch streamers are being DMCA'd despite deleting all of their old VODs and clips that they were told to delete. For those that aren't aware, that media never actually got deleted, just taken off of Twitch. Every old VOD and clip that has ever existed (yes that includes banned streamers) are still stored on a server that Twitch owns.

   Now you may be wondering why this is an issue, and more importantly, why is this only an issue now? Well here's the thing: The server hosting this content is completely public.

   Because this server is public, DMCA bots have found their way into it, and despite the streamers deleting everything like they were told, they are STILL getting DMCA takedowns because of this server's current state. This is of no fault of their own.

   I am not suggesting we nuke every last second of content on the server. Twitch just needs to make the server not public so that streamers don't get struck down for content that they tried to delete.

10. Don't allow nudity on Twitch

    This is simply a copy paste of a reply from a recent reddit post on the subject. It's un edited for this purpose but it gets the point across. (Seeing as there are already 2 people asking for nudity, I figured the counter needed a spot)

    I'm a Creative streamer. Long before Creative was a thing. I don't want nudity as part of broadcasts. Why? Several reasons. I run a business. Customers come to my channel to see my work, and one of the problems with nudity is that I don't want my business to be associated with it - Be it fine arts or hentai.

    That brings up the second reason why I don't want nudity. What is art, and what is porn? There's no hard line, and just because something isn't porn or distasteful to you, doesn't mean it isn't for others. I believe that hentai for instance, is porn. But ask any person who draws hentai, and they'll say it isn't. That it's art (The two are not mutually exclusive).

    third reason why I believe there shouldn't be nudity (Read: genitalia). It's an open category with many different streams and people. While GTA is a category with just that one game, and that one audience - It's an 18+ game, in an 18+ category. Creative isn't 18+, and it shouldn't be. There's no good way to allow children browsing Creative with, or without their parents, when there are people drawing dicks in there. (And setting channels to "mature" doesn't do jack)

    Fourth reason, which is more of a counter argument to the idea that Twitch allows plenty nudity already: They don't. Plenty of games are banned from Twitch for the one reason that they display genitalia in one way or another - Recently Genital Jousting, which is a cartoony, and rather funny game in my opinion, about dick-jousting. There's a world of difference between a game character performing a lap-dance more or less clothed, and clearly displayed genitalia. (For the record, I don't think these games should be banned necessarily. They should simply have their own 18+ section - And one could possibly make an 18+ Creative section) An addition to this: Twitch does punish streamers who linger on sexual things in games. It can occur, but it canot be the focus of the broadcast.

    Fifth reason. There's no real good way to moderate this. Even without nudity allowed we've seen countless examples of people crossing the line, be it artful drawing or straight up porn, that have allowed to stream for hours before being shut down. There's no incentive at Twitch to have an admin browsing Creative constantly, verifying that all broadcasts that display genitalia are not crossing whatever arbitrary line Twitch would have to set on "What's porn?"

    Lastly. The idea that allowing nudity would help Creative grow has no real validity. What ever audience may be gained from it, would likely be trumped by the loss of younger audiences and sensitive people who choose to not browse the category, because it shows content they're not comfortable with. This doesn't need to be an ongoing discussion. Twitch is a private company, and they have a relatively strict policy on genitalia (Unlike Youtube that allows for videos of births and Genital Jousting for instance). Can nudity be allowed in a way that isn't detrimental? Possibly. Is it worth it to invest the resources so a handful of artist get to do that one painting they want to do? Probably not. There are so many things to do in art. If you can't do nudity on stream, it's not that big of a deal, in my honest opinion.

    There are art streaming services that allow for nudity, so it's not like there's no place to broadcast this type of content. If anything, I think it's important that we retain a place where nudity isn't part of the Creative process, for the sake of the younger audience, and the more sensitive audience.

    The amount of risky content on JTV back when I broadcasted on there was actually enough to make me not want to share my broadcast with people I knew - It had much looser content guidelines, and as a result, it ended up being something I for instance wouldn't want to show my parents, because you never knew when a cam girl was building up an audience she'd then move over to an actual camsite (They did this a lot), or just straight up porn streams. (Porn streams could run for hours as long as they didn't hit frontpage, so if viewer numbers got too high, the broadcaster would put on a weird clown video or something to make part of the audience leave - The lengths people would go just to broadcast porn was stupid - The issue was well known by one of the mods I spoke with at the time) - I don't want Twitch to risk this being anywhere near a possibility to become the norm on their site.

    Allowing nudity could potentially make it difficult to secure licensing for shows like Bob Ross The Joy of Painting, and the various Food shows. There are likely going to be more of these things in the future, and if nudity has any detrimental effect on securing a deal for these marathons, it's doing much more harm than good.

11. add a feature to hide or remove mass join bots from chatter lists.

    There has been much talk on the r/Twitch reddit regarding the large amount of mass join bots. These bots, although they haven't broken a rule, are quite annoying to many people. Especially the ones that randomly follow/unfollow during a stream just trying to get attention.

    I believe many people would really appreciate some sort of a feature like /hide NAME that will remove the username from the chatter list and possibly block them from following. If it is indeed a bot there is no harm done.

13. Updates on Twitch Safety Support

    This is directly copied from the proposal update from Jambo, which states as follows:

    "Twitch Safety Support - Update Proposal by Jambo

    1. UPDATED REPORTING TOOL
       Twitch’s reporting tool is outdated, and needs to be revamped. The biggest suggestion for this is to have a lesser detailed reporting still available on profiles but provide a link to something similar to submitting a ticket, but will allow the user to submit images as well as links (currently images cannot be uploaded with a report) be marked ‘high priority.’

    2. HAVE A DIRECT CONTACT EMAIL ADDRESS FOR PARTNERS
       Along with an updated reporting tool, make it easier for Partners to contact the team for urgent matters. A ticket queue will not always work when situations require more attention, and allow actual responses to come through, not an automatic response to a ticket. Designate members of your team to reach out to, as well as reassure, those with high urgency situations.

    3. CONDUCT ON OTHER PLATFORMS MUST HAVE MORE OF AN IMPACT ON TWITCH
       If a Twitch user harasses others on another platform, there is clearly a direct correlation and this needs to be addressed. Twitch should absolutely have open communication with other platforms, such as Twitter and Discord, and be able to abolish communities and users who bully, harass and target attacks on others. Their activity represents the site regardless and that responsibility absolutely falls on Twitch to make note when it’s brought to their attention. There may not be anything Twitch is able to do with regard to the other platforms, but can absolutely take matters into their own hands for theirs.

    4. BUILD AN EMERGENCY/URGENT RESPONSE TEAM
       Twitch may be a streaming and gaming website but internet threats are all too real. Harassment and bullying are not medium level urgency. The mental health of the streaming community needs to be a higher priority. While there are definitely other large issues, many attacks online impact the very real lives of content creators every day. For a platform that cares heavily for inclusivity, safety and equality, there are not a lot of tools in place to ensure its safety.

    5. STOP ALLOWING THE CREATION OF RACIST AND HATEFUL USERNAMES
       We are able to ban these words in our chats, it should be just as easy to create a filter that prevents names of this nature. Plain and simple. Allowing these words to be used, and their creation allowed, is setting us back. While there will always be an exception, the exception and rare circumstance is better than allowing these to be made with no precaution taken.

    6. WORK WITH DISCORD TO BUILD A FILTER/INTEGRATION
       DISALLOWING BANNED ACCOUNTS JOIN A STREAMER’S DISCORD SERVER
       If a streamer or viewer has their Twitch linked to their account, any user who joins from a link originated by said streamer for their chat only (a creator link, if you will) that’s built into chat through a linked bot that does not allow users who have been banned in chat to join a Discord server.

    7. DO NOT ALLOW BANNED USERS TO VIEW CONTENT
       While having banned users unable to see chat is a great step in the right direction, it’s not enough. As streamers, your personality is on video, not in chat. It’s great to keep your community safe, and unseen, but the streamer is more than likely the target in attacks like these. While, yes, incognito tabs exist and there is nothing that can be done with that (outside of IP bans, which should also be considered), it needs to be noted that keeping your creators safe should be a top priority.

    8. NAME CARDS SHOW IF USER IS BANNED IN OTHER CHANNELS YOU MOD FOR
       When you click on a users name, mods in that channel should be able to see if this user has been banned in other channels that they mod for, and be made aware of potential incoming issues.

    9. ADD A MODERATOR CHAT BUILT WITHIN MOD ‘VIEW’
       Build a chat box/space for moderators to discuss without leaving stream to talk in a separate app’s chat (i.e. Discord) and lose sight of chat in the process."

14. ASMR Category Trouble

    Surely you guys have seen what has recently happened with the "ASMR Category" with two big streamers. Now I will say good job on banning them. But I think those bans should uphold and remain permanent to further back up the message that states. "That type of content is not allowed on twitch"

    It's too suggestive the line was pushed too far.

    Unless you guys want to make an 18+ category or a whole new site altogether adhering to that. Either way some sort of enforcement needs to be put into place. With a CLEAR understanding of what is / isn't allowed

    Surely you guys have seen what has recently happened with the "ASMR Category" with two big streamers. Now I will say good job on banning them. But I think those bans should uphold and remain permanent to further back up the message that states. "That type of content is not allowed on twitch"

15. Mature Audience Only

    Is there a better way to filter or make sure that if I have my channel in Mature Audience only, that it is understood? Like can we have a little rating setting we can place or have it be better defined in the Topic/Category settings for streams? As well as if there is a way we can make sure it keeps the chat/audience of age?

16. Undelete/restore

    As you might have expereinced, when chat is moving fast but someone needs a message deleted or timedout/banned mods can sometimes missclick due to the fast moving chat, now while we do have the pause chat option this can still happen due to a flinch or a nudge from a pet or someone else, what I am suggesting is an undelete/restore function within the chat for mods.

    If someone was banned by accident or timedout all their messages are purged, but how about when you undo the mistken action you have the option to restore that persons messages within the chat. The undelete would be for single line deletions that were done by accident, this would help get rid of that horrible feeling mods get when they do something by accident since they can fix it easily.

17. Blocked Users shouldn't see my messages

    Currently, if I block a person on Twitch, they can still see my messages in Twitch chat. I think it would be a lot better if a person cannot see the messages of someone who has them blocked, in the same way I can't see their messages if I have them blocked. It should go both ways.

18. Blur Thumbnails for streams with the Sexual Themes tag

    As a streamer and Twitch viewer, I use this platform daily. I personally do not have much opinion on the updated approach regarding Twitch's policies on sexual content and classification labels, and it may benefit some. However, I believe there has been a major oversight when rolling out these changes.

    I am aware that streams marked with the Sexual Themes tag will not be displayed on the home page (logical enough), yet they still show up in other categories. The preview thumbnails even showcasing full nudity (and some potential rule breaks surpassing just "artistic nudity"), while I am just trying to browse the Art or Just Chatting categories.

    I believe that simply Blurring the Thumbnails of any streams marked with the Sexual Themes tag by default when browsing categories on this platform, should be a must. I don't know why, but there is absolutely nothing blurred out for me and it doesn't seem to be a feature either. There are also no functional warnings for me or whatever is supposed to come with the Sexual Themes tag(?). Is it a one and done deal? This is NOT good enough. I do not want to constantly see nudity when I'm trying to look for a SFW artists on twitch, or browse the Just Chatting category. Not to mention this is worrisome with minors being on the platform.

    I humbly request that anyone who agrees with the notion of blurring thumbnails of streams marked with the sexual themes tag by default (possibly with the ability to turn it off and on), votes for this idea and hopefully Twitch will implement this feature. Thank you for considering and I hope that this feedback is well received.

19. Prevent banned users from DM'ing the streamer

    Several users that have been banned in the channel I mod for ignore the unban request feature and DM the streamer directly. This has always been an incredibly toxic interaction and really defeats the purpose of banning someone in the first place. Banned chatters shouldn't be able to DM the streamer of a channel they're banned from.

20. Report Transparency/Feedback

    I would love if the whole process of reporting someone came with a bit more transparency in regards to what then happens.

    When reporting a user today, you're left with the message "Thank you for your report", and that's it. From that point, you have no way of knowing what happens, and you never hear back from Twitch in regards to the outcome of your report.

    I would like to suggest that a bit of transparency is introduced to this process.
    If reports were treated like bug reports/feature suggestions, sending us an automated e-mail with a ticket-number attached, it would not only allow us to submit further proof/more info directly attached to that specific report to further expidite it, but it would also allow us to know if our report was handled and action was taken, or if our report was declined for one or more reasons.
    I know for obvious reasons, you can't always disclose how specific reports are handled, but giving us a degree of transparency in this process and allowing us to chip in on a specific report directly based on a ticket-number, could allow for a certain - and most likely not insignificant - amount of reports to get handled with higher accuracy than previous.
