Ban gambling streams.
Children and young adults are more likely to become gambling addicts when exposed to it.
I don't understand how everyone here is screaming to ban slot streams. Have people ever watched the most popular streamers "trainwrecksTV" or "roshtein"? They always say don't play slots, watch me, but you will lose your money. It is up to each person whether he plays. The slot machines and gambling houses and casionos are everywhere in real life - even if you don't want to admit it. Also in bars, in gas stations, own stores - or sports betting (which by the way should remain allowed?!) can be played.
I find the streams really entertaining, especially roshtein. It's all about the person, he has no ads like 50% of all streamers, no subs, no donations and as most important he doesn't do pointless IRL streams.
If you have this discussion, then ban everything that takes money out of people's pockets, all games where content can be bought - especially Lootboxes - like FIFA, CS, Fortnite - just all games! and then immediately this ***** streams "pool" where you only see naked buttocks and made XXl breasts that are covered with small fabrics, where you can see everything through anyway! So equal to ban all Twitch content!
Please, Please, Please ban sponsored gambling on twitch. It will literally save lives. I personally know 7 people who have taken up gambling and lost huge amounts of money due to the influence of gambling streams. I doubt this will be seen but if it is please let it contribute to the overwhelming similar views of your viewers and creators. For once put peoples safety above profit.
people voiced concerns over how awful this was a year ago... and nothing.
What is going through the minds of the people who run Twitch? Use whatever you have left of your brains and BAN GAMBLING. IT IS DESTROYING LIVES AND IS TEACHING CHILDREN THAT GAMBLING IS OKAY.
It is ruining peoples lives.
Ban gambling streams please
Das wäre wirklich wichtig, da so weniger in die Glückspiel Szene reinrutschen würden.
Please ban Gambling streams they have been a burden in my life and have caused me an addiction I will have to live with forever its not worth it Twitch for the harm you're causing others.
Twitch, Stop promoting gambling to minors. If you don't age verify these streams or remove these streams entirely, then that is exactly what you are doing.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone brought a lawsuit against you for it.
Get gambling off twitch!!!
please just ban it altogether, this gambling stuff is ruining lifes i have seen it first hand
Either lock gambling behind age-verified 18+/21+ restrictions, or ban it altogether.
Firsthand I see minors that are gambling underage on websites that aren't even legal in their country, attributing their introduction to gambling to streamers like Trainwrecks and xQcOW.
Some many stories I have seen where the sponsored stream triggers a gambling addict to play again.
If nothing is done, twitch will be full of unregulated gambling stream which could cause harm to the platform considering the large proportion of underage users.
Gambling Shouldn't be avaible in twitch, if nudity, gore, physical violence isn't allowed than gambling also shouldn't.
Simple as that, if you ban nudity and other stuff without hesitating, than get gambling off the platform.
It is time. Twitch has the opportunity to lessen the harm caused by their platform.
Twitch needs to ban gambling streams, it puts millions of younger audiences at risk of getting addicted to a life threatening addiction.
Agree with this. Not only are streamers doing shady deals with online laxly regulated crypto-casinos, they are not as up front as they should be when it comes to disclosing details of the contract.
Permitting gambling on a website with influencers that can encourage their viewers is bound to have negative consequences on many people, not just those that choose to gamble, but also their families and friends. It's not worth it.
I would had to Nyaxxy_'s comment bellow that Twitch is showing some level of commitment to support mental health and trying to put ahead strong ToS to avoid bad actors hurting mental health and overall the "safe space" it's looking to create by being inclusive.
While being severe on racism, sexism, any self-harm, Gambling with a tag 18+ is insufficient to mitigate the actual risks.
There's ton of actual legit research expressing how:
- addiction to gambling starts
- what it triggers
- how it impacts your life
- how it's a major cause for depression and suicides.
The ToS leaves gambling open but also should be taking more drastic approaches to removes itself from the paradigm of the risk of gambling.
A virtual Casino increase the amount of time you gamble versus a physical one.
A Virtual Casino removes the need for banking by getting crypto wallets. In the Casino you have to get there, get IDED, transfer money into chips. There's a significant amount of added layers needed to "commit yourself" into gambling.
A Virtual Casino can cancel your account without an actual clear explanation making at risk younger under 21 yo use vulnerable to losing their actual kitty (money with the Casino).
