Currently, the only option for transcoding regardless of a streamer's own setup, is to pray you're lucky.

This harms a ton of smaller streamers, viewers, and Twitch Profits alike. It forces streamers to prioritise lower quality, which wards off viewers in more economically sound positions in order to get the viewers required to get noticed by the clearly viewer driven promotion algorithm. This is highly self-contradicting, leading to the only chance for twitch to maximise profit being streamers downprioritising the users that would be the most likely to contribute large amounts.

Opensourcing already existing transcoding service together with something like OBS Studio would be a no-brainer in that regard, and also save the potential processing cost of transcoding serverside. It would increase network load, but that could be easily mitigated, especially if it gives more users incentive to contribute to streams.

I often watch two or more streamers who host shows together on twitch. This means they will be talking on teamspeak and broadcasting this teamspeak conversation on each stream. This means you will have to mute one of both streamers if you want to watch both of em at the same time. If streamers could stream multiple audio channels, they could stream the teamspeak conversation on one track and their normal microphone/stream sounds on other tracks. Users could mute the teamspeak channel if they want to watch both streamers, and still hear whats going on if one streamer mutes himself on stream (and the additional stream sounds from the streamer that right now will have to be muted)

I love the new view numbers attached to the VODs! I would love a way to transfer these view numbers to the attached highlight. As it stands now, we lose all those stats when the VOD expires. Those of us that highlight entire streams without the breaks, etc to save for future VOD watchers (for example, an entire series run of Silent Hill) have a difficult time explaining Twitch analytics to sponsors or advertisers.

If I submit analytics of EXAMPLE GAME with 1k Twitch views, 1k YouTube (uploaded 24 hours after it airs on Twitch for exclusivity), 1k podcast version, and the VODs on Twitch are deleted so only the highlights remain (with 400 views instead of the original 1000) - this does a few things:

Sponsors cannot fact check view numbers (and they do). Now they think creators have lied or inflated numbers, so we must either preemptively try to explain that Twitch deletes a video without us able to save the original (which seems very unlikely from a business standpoint) or just not include those numbers at all ultimately signalling to sponsors Twitch isn't worth as much investment as competitor platforms, when the reality is often that Twitch had more engagement and views than competitors. (1400 views + a live chat vs "only" 400 views on a highlight you can't comment on).

Basically, it's bad for all of us and I'd love some way to either attach those original view numbers to the highlight or a way to save the original VOD. Attaching the original view numbers to all highlights isn't a perfect solution because if someone only highlights a small portion of the stream, surely they don't want the entire stream's numbers, but it's the only solution I can see to help this issue. Perhaps this feature activates for highlights over an hour long?

I’m working on an SPA where one can watch VODs in sync, as if it was live.

I noticed something weird on several videos: when started at a late position on Auto quality, the videos plays normally for a few seconds, then goes backward exactly when the quality is automatically changed.
This does not happen by switching qualities manually.

This is not easy to reproduce, as you need to be in Auto quality AND have the first selected quality to be low (e.g. 360p).

Here are the steps I took with relative success to reproduce the issue:

1. Go to this video : https://www.twitch.tv/videos/999197520?t=8h51m36s
2. Switch to a low quality (360p)
3. Let the video run for a few seconds
4. Switch to auto quality and refresh
5. If you’re lucky, you should be in Auto quality with 360p selected. If you have “Source” quality, go back to step 2
6. Around 8:51:51, the video should have jumped backward of a few minutes (but the timecode hasn’t). This happen exactly at the moment where the video switches quality.

My guess is that it is due to the long video and a somewhat wrong video encoding from the streamer…
I found a work-around by forcing a non-Auto quality in my SPA, but this removes the advantages of the Auto quality mode…

Foot Note : this also happens with the embed Twitch player.

So you know that one streamer you like to watch that's full time and divides him or her self between more than one game / category and goes 8+ hours each day and has tons of people clipping the channel's content?
I personally think it's a bit frustrating to go digging through their dozens / hundreds of clips just to find that one you are looking for from such a long time ago. I think it would be a great addition if twitch allowed us more filters than just sorting by time created (by default, 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days).
If I want to see someone's clips on their channel and want to see what's happening on their channel, I would ideally like the following options to sort by:
Date created.
Chronological order.
sorted by views (already the default)
and the following filters:
"Category / Game"
“Clip title." (Concept: type in the clip's name, clips that match display on your web browser, this can be done with google though, I think. Problem is, what if the clip title is something common like "OMEGALUL".)

Overall this is a quality of life improvement for streamers themselves.
