Don't burn-in subtitles and let us edit the subtitles
The new feature to add subtitles / captions is a good feature, but unfortunately it burns it into the video. There's also no option to edit the subtitles, so it will burn in incorrect subtitles. There's also no option to change the position either, so it might cover up important parts. So I have do disable this feature for now.
Let it be an optional feature for users who want it. Let us edit the subtitles at any time, even after the clip is made. Both the timing, spelling and how words are grouped.

It's now possible to edit the captions, but it would be really great to be able to move them too! As mentioned in the request, they cover a large part of the image, and I can't redo my vertical overlays so that the captions don't hide the picture.

I think the auto captioning is a great feature that could save me hours of work and move some of my process in Twitch, encouraging me and others to stream longer.
BUT, only if we are able to edit the captions, if 2 out of 30 words are captioned wrong, then I scrap the entire captioning and have to do it by hand!
I agree with the proposed changes, I just wanted to add some love for this feature but we need a better implementation

@thelnfernity absolutely good points, my submission could have been better. I think if I sum up both our comments it would be:
- Subtitles should be a separate layer; same style as now, but toggleable by the viewers.
- Allow the streamer and editors to edit the text, adjust the timing, change the groupings of words, and the colours of the text, outline, and highlight, as well as the position and alignment on screen. (The viewer should also be able to drag subtitles on screen)
- Since this then is a separate subtitle-track, the download can offer the original clean clip, as well as a version with the subtitles burnt-in. -

Was basically searching for a way to provide feedback regarding this and stumbled upon the forum here.
It would be nice if:
- Subtitles are not burnt into the clip but rather an overlay feature which can be turned on or off.- the export of clips would allow for an option with and without subtitles so people can decide what they prefer. I have seen clips where the subtitles were good. I have seen clips where words were censored for no reason (Why is "Oh mein Gott" censored, the german Oh my god? That'S not a curse word).
Especially exporting the clips without the subtitles is important for stuff like clip compilations.

Accessibility options are a good thing but this is implemented poorly. Having the *option* of exporting a burned-in version would be fine, but mandatory burn-in (which is apparently *permanent* after 30 days) means that there is no clean video source for editors or for preservation.
The speech to text is inaccurate (which is to be expected for automated STT) but neither the broadcaster nor their trusted editors with the editor role can correct the errors. The very first thing I saw it do was get the word "sub" (as in subscription) wrong.

Worst decision they've made (this year).
Been an annoyance with every mobile platform (ie tiktok) clip linked on social media sites because it's a visual distraction (bad for autists and maybe ADD) and also often wrong. Now Twitch decided to join the train, and the first clip I saw with it also had wrong subtitles.
Needs to be able to be turned off by the viewer.

Adding to this, because the style of the subtitles wouldn't be supported on other platforms, having the option to download with burnt in subtitles could be an option.
