How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

  1. Currently, blocked users can still send messages to you in your channel's chat. This is confusing for newer users since it requires 2 actions to actually block someone from interacting with you.
It is also a very strange use case to have "blocking" a user be an "only harass me in public" action- I do understand the use case for the inverse not being true (being banned from a channel should not block them) but since blocking already removes them from your followers and removes whisper access, not removing channel chat access seems illogical.

  2. Do not display soft p0rn in the home screen under "Live channels we think you'll like" unless a user has previously followed a specific tag (or an account containing that specific tag). I have never watched nor liked any content of that nature, and it continually populates in the late evening, yet, it is clearly inconsistent with Twitch Community Guidelines: "Sexually suggestive content or activities are also prohibited..." (This refers to hot tub streams with nearly naked hosts in promiscuous and revealing poses and ASMR streams featuring sexualized hosts.) Those channels are surely good for business, but constantly putting it…

  3. The current Mature Audience Warning is for those 18+ and is used by many streamers even for games and other activities that those under 18 and over 12 can watch/chat. These ages groups are then left out. A new warning should be added that only allows those between 13-16 years old to watch/chat. When this warning is displayed the game and chat would only have things in them appropriate for such age groups. The streamer would be responsible for making sure the game is rated for such ages and that settings used in chat keeps out more mature conversations/topics. If…

  4. With twitch taking a large stake in livestreaming as a whole I feel it is best for twitch to branch out into allowing 18+ NSFW content on the platform.

I propose that 18+ content is limited exclusively to verified 18+ users of the site, and is impossible to discover by default - but can be found using a convenient account setting.

In this way ambiguity between certain game content and body painting can be eliminated by defining what makes content 18+ or not 18+

A safe alternative to other NSFW live stream sites can be created through twitch in this…

  5. Dear Twitch Overlords and Emperors (and maybe Mr. Bezos himself),

My name is Rob and I hail from a band called Psychostick, and we've been active professionally since about 2005. We've gone through the gamut of the music business in our own way and have learned quite a bit about the inner workings of the industry.

The DCMA thing is something us artists respect and appreciate, however since this takedown drama started happening, I believe there's a simple (but probably not easy) solution to this problem that terrestrial radio stations have been abiding by since music became an "industry."

    Bars,…

  6. The permitted terms that are added do not end up permitting the word to be used in chat. For example, blocking the word "sex" prevents the chat from using the pride emotes that have the words "sex" in it due to the wildcard. It would be nice if Twitch found a way to sort the Permitted Words list and allow it so the permitted words actually allow the viewers to say the word in chat without it still being blocked.

Can you please clarify what term(s) you’re adding to the Permitted Terms list in this example? Are you saying you’ve added “sex” as a Blocked Term, “pansexual” as a Permitted Term, and you still can’t use the Pansexual Pride emote?

  7. I think there should be a button for when streamers are having a stroke or something the viewers can click the button. This button should send a confirmation to some twitch admins and if its true they click on approve. when they click on approve a signal is going out to the streamers local emergency service and they will respond to the emergency case.

a precondition to this is that you need to know the adress of the streamers what can be done be asking for the adress when creating a new account or when you implement it that existing…

  8. I was just wrongfully indefinitely suspended, as in it was very quickly lifted as a "mistake on your end." I have two twitch accounts. The twitch account that I was currently streaming on received 7 days, but my second twitch account that I was NOT streaming on was indefinitely suspended immediately. My second twitch account has not received any violation in 3 years, and yet it received an automatic indefinite suspension... and again, as a mistake on your end. No TOS was actually broken on either account.

My point is, something that happened 3+ years ago should not punish us…

  9. When content is clearly labelled as "adult content" and "contains nudity" from a pixelated game is banned and yet real humans can display nudity and suggestive posing is not banned, Twitch REALLY needs to reassess their views on societal norms and what is legal.

I was watching my friend, fellow streamer, and a channel I sub to when he got banned for playing a video game (Conan Exiles) because he was dressing his character (was nude) in battle armor- its a cartoon, an animation.
The moment he was banned in the Twitch recommended for me list was a well known…

  10. There has to be a better way before going into suspension of an account for something said either in private or public chats. I have experience 3 different people from the LGTBQ+ community be hate reported and suspended for "unsolicited sexual advances" and this being automated is a huge problem as the community can be targeted, you need to have person review this kind of reports before suspending as its not fair for people to get suspensions on the word of a report

  11. adding a "unjust suspension" option to the appeal or something that let's Twich know the person suspended might've been so without the reason mentioned
and a proof of reason for suspension.
my account was suspended due to Fraud when all I did was sub to 2 of the streamers I usually watch, that's all it took for you to suspend my account ? really ?

  12. Many ideas have been discussed here about adding 2FA as a next level security for accounts to verify they're legit and not just a spam bot account and chat. (See: https://twitch.uservoice.com/forums/933812-safety/suggestions/41306257-adding-2fa-to-chat-as-optional-filter)

What I propose here that is different those ideas is adding a CAPTCHA solver puzzle for people who want to follow a channel. And I'm not talking about those silly Text Based CAPTCHA solver puzzles that are distorted with upper and lower case characters and other things, but an image based CAPTCHA solver puzzle.

    1. New followers will have to solve a CAPTCHA, a One-time Only process before the…

  13. If someone talking about suicide and/or self harm in chat, then banning someone from a platform that could potentially provide vital contact or support to them is not the answer needed for helping them.
This reddit post made by reportedly a health professional describes their experience with the issue
    https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/7d87ah/how_does_twitch_deal_with_self_harm_and_suicide/
While messages glorifying the acts should not be promoted or allowed on the site, it's important to not get rid of a potentially vital way of contacting someone who could be in serious danger. Instead, provide them with hotlines, or other direct ways to get them the support they need.…

  14. Here's a catch of the Followers-Only mode that is bad: A spambot can follow anyone at any time and never talk anything. By the point someone turns on Followers-Only mode the bot has followed long enough to be allowed to taint the chat with spam.

    And here's the solution:
Authy Badge: this would be a better "Verified Badge" than the Verified Badge, because it would confirm that the person activated 2FA, which typically involves having a phone, which typically means bots have a harder time verified themselves as a legitimate user and the Verified Badge is nothing more than "this…

  15. I would like to suggest that viewers be given the ability to ban themselves from channels/streamers/streams that they know are not good for their mental wellbeing, but which they cannot stop themselves from watching if it is available to them.

Similarly to how betting sites allow you to set limits on yourself, to help keep yourself in check, I would like to see users given the power to block themselves from a channel that they cannot resist typically, be it because they cannot control their financial actions, such as donations, or because they feel the channel or streamer in question…

  16. Twitch has become a lifeline for many streamers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular club and mobile DJs whose only source of income has been cut off in recent months. Therefore, it is essential that streaming services like Twitch remain a viable outlet for music users, while providing fair compensation to songwriters, recording artists, and record labels.

Unfortunately, U.S. copyright law is still vastly out of touch within the marketplace for independent DJs, many of whom make little or no income from their online broadcasts. This certainly presents a unique challenge in the case of Twitch. DJs either run…

  17. Content tagged with “sexual themes” should be in an entirely separate category. I absolutely and unequivocally do not consent to being shown what are essentially h*ntai thumbnails when I’m trying to scroll through and see artists, no matter how artfully it is depicted.

Separate the content into a new category called “nsfw art” or something similar.

  18. Stop rate limiting your most dedicated active users

I often end up being rate limited when creating clips. Getting errors that state "Whoops. Something went wrong." or having login issues until I wait 24 hours and retry again.

I'm an active moderator for a lot of channels and I enjoy highlighting streamers success and entertaining moments in clips. The problem is that I keep getting rate limited or identified as a "bot". The DDoS and rate limiting is currently overly aggressive and keeps hindering your most active contributors.

Please consider this and make some sort of change.
    Best Regards
    Cragsand

  19. I am trying to understand how it is possible that promotion, glorification and usage of Stalinist and Soviet imagery and symbology on stream is not banned under the user guidelines I quote at the end of this post. In many countries in Europe, especially Baltic states, Poland etc. Stalinist and Soviet symbology is treated the same way as Nazi symbology and for a good reason - it is a hateful ideology of an authoritarian regime that was historically committing crimes against humanity against its neighbours and its own population - I am not for censorship overall but if we are…
