adding 2fa to chat as optional filter
Enable 2FA as a chat optional requirement for users to be required to have 2fa before typing in a users stream chat. This would drastically reduce the number of times a banned user will try to evade a ban to harass a streamer / disrupt chat.
On top of this it would drastically increase awareness on 2fa. Being optional it wouldn't force people or streamers to turn it on or use it. This could also help people who have 18+ Mature content streams reduce the number of people under 18 from engaging.
As 2fa already exists within the twitch platform and is required for affiliated/partnered streamers enabling this to a chat setting would be pretty easy for a developer to add into a code
Its already clearly a pretty popular idea

Hey all,
Thanks so much for your feedback and comments on this topic. Today we’re updating our suite of moderation tools by adding phone-verified chat and expanding the settings for email verification, to help Creators better control their chat experience and improve security. Both Creators and Mods will be able to set the verification requirements for a channel and there are varying levels you will be able to set so it best suits your community. Unlike 2FA, which requires you to enter a code each time you sign in, you’ll only have to verify a phone number and/or email once to be considered verified for chat across Twitch. For more information please refer to our blog post from earlier today: https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/09/29/securing-your-chat-with-phone-and-email-verification/
We’ve spent many months building, testing and refining this tool, and while this is far from the last update on our roadmap to improve Creator safety, we’re optimistic about the impact it can have in making a safer Twitch. As always we would love to hear your feedback about these changes.

So happy this feature is finally live!!!
we did it, but also please add this https://twitch.uservoice.com/forums/310228-account-management-e-g-login-connections-pass/suggestions/44207337-click-to-reveal-phone-number

I'm sure that when you do launch better security tools, you will also include a UI update to our Security and Privacy tab with a "click to reveal" button for our phone number.
Currently our telephone number is viewable on our Security and Privacy tab with nothing masking any of the numbers which is very troubling, so any streamer browsing the dashboard live may easily and accidentally dox themselves on stream if they are navigating the streamer dashboard.

Yeah, would be a good way to have verified people instead of bots/whatever else raiding in

At the very least, expose the 2FA status in the IRC chat messages, show it in user cards, and possibly give it a special badge. Then just create /2FAON and /2FAOFF commands for mods.
Note that this would require a validated phone number, not just something like Google Authenticator. So I guess "2FA" would be a bit of a misnomer.

This seems like a simple and impactful way to increase the options available to creators. I'd love to see this implemented ASAP!

@ladydarkness24.
I don't disagree that it is possible but it will certainly make things harder for them. The way things are now, it is too easy for those people who harass to make new accounts.

Every step helps.

Isn't it also possible that those ppl who harras could make new accounts and get new number for 2fa?

If we can make this work and it can be so simply added, then I clearly support the idea to keep the communities safe.

I wholeheartedly support this idea.
I agree that 2fa will cut down on such offenses and should certainly help against bot raids.
Maybe there is a way to tie it into discord since they are
already tied into each other.
P.S. ElleRows has added another good idea below. To only allow "raids" from accounts that use 2fa so non-2fa accounts can't back-door into 2fa accounts. -

This is an excellent idea.

This option will be very helpful.

2FA is honestly a security feature that is underutilised, this should have been an option when 2FA became a thing.

I agree with this idea. This will also stop bot raids if 2FA is mandatory to a unique mobile phone number while also increasing account security.

came here to suggest this. it works well on Discord. no reason it shouldn't be a thing already - it should've been a thing when Twitch implemented the new tags.

This is a great idea and will get rid of all the random chaff that's plagued the whole system for a while.
As well as obfuscating the recent Bot attacks on streamers. -

Sounds like a great idea! At this point, 2FA is almost required for security anyways.
