Hi, I know that this is a very late response, but we’re hoping to find time to address this issue later this year. There are a few steps we’ll have to take to solve this problem in a way that will work for all streamers, but we understand the severity of the issue.

I agree this needs to be implemented. This will help a lot with unban requests and knowing the history of the username.

I just had to deal with a hate raid myself. I believe the issue lies in how easy it is to create multiple accounts. There is no robot captcha when creating accounts, hence this can easily be scripted. If an account gets banned then one can quite easily create a new account to ban evade.
I for one believe that this needs to be handled at the account creation stage.
I have two ideas for this:
1. It is absolutely critical that there is a robot captcha when creating accounts to stop automated scripts creating multiple accounts.
2. When a user is creating an account then they need to activate 2FA using a mobile number.
This not only achieves better account security but also hinders the ability to create 1,000s of accounts if the mobile number is unique to that account.
No amount of filtering is going to stop the hate raids as they always change the message to bypass any filters that are in place. They can do anything once they have 1,000s of bots ready to go.
Here is a tweet demonstrating how easy it is to create fake accounts: https://twitter.com/Cosmic_Ovrthnkr/status/1428860663259176966
