   Just make the ad take up the top left quarter of the stream screen but play it muted, all should matter is that we can see it, if we wanna hear it we can click it.

   All forcing us to watch and listen to an ad does is make us not care about what you're advertising, period. It's like protesters blocking a road, you really think im gonna care when you're doing something like this? I will not.

   Just make it so we get mostly the stream still with a small portion of the screen goign to the ad and then make sure it doesnt force mute the stream. This will be a win win situation. I legit quit watching twitch cause of this ad stuff getting out of control.

2. Block certain types of ads

   I am a former Alcohol abuser and I really don't appreciate the recent trend of literally every collection of ad's for some of my streams contain ads for alcohol. It seems 1, like a waste of ad space for me, and 2. an annoyance and reminder of a temptation i don't want or need.

   It would just be nice to be able to just block ads for drugs/alcohol.

3. Stream Display Ads could honestly be bigger

   The most disruptive thing about adverts is loss of the audio. The video feed shrinking is much less of an issue. Consider e.g. a Stream Display Ad that shrinks the video to 25% or even less of the screen. Advertisers would know where the stream was going to be on the screen (or even get to choose) and could incorporate that into the advert (fancy border / give the streamer a thought bubble or similar)

   Additionally these could be (silent) video rather than just static pictures

4. Ads shouldn't be in VODs (if there are it shouldnt be much)

   So recently while watching a buddys streams vod because I missed it, I kept getting more than 1 ad over and over again without a solid hour break in between which is annoying. My idea is if there are ads in VODS at all, there should only be 1-2 after every hour, not minute.

5. Reduce the greed on Ads

   I formulated the title drastically because it‘s a serious problem lately happening on Twitch and don’t see that getting addressed from them, at least not in the level as it should.

   I said it several times on social media and i also say it here: Twitch is ruining their ads business, constantly and -seems like- willingly:
   - The sheer amount of ads which you face as a viewer of the platform is simply ridiculous
   - You‘ve guys taken the control of the ads out of the hands of the content creators
   - You implement changes to the ad system without notifying anybody nor testing it out
   - the Ads for bits function is not working

   So, let me explain that points one by one:
   — Amount of Ads —
   If i enter a stream (the so called „pre-roll ads“) the player tells me:
   - „Ad 1 of 2“, then ofc „Ad 2 of 2“ and then it starts over again, 8 times in a row.
   - Which makes by
   - - an average ad length of 10 seconds (lowest value in Twitch advantage and easier to calculate here),
   - - 20 seconds per „block“
   - - which makes it 160 Seconds or over 2,5 Minutes i watch ads.
   I really have to ask you Twitch: Are you guys kidding us?

   Not is that just annoying, which leads me (and many others i spoke with) to leave the site. Which means the tab will be closed. And your mid-roll ads have the same issue.

   — No Control for Content Creators —
   Yeah when we are at the mid-roll ads let‘s come to a good point. You guys implement the mid-roll ads without any control for the content creators.

   Okay, the streamers can trigger ads to push the mid-rolls out, but that‘s not the control i‘m talking about. It‘s about the content won‘t be interrupted suddenly by an ads in the worse timing, well how could we prevent that? OH by giving the streamers the fully control about the ad placement for example.

   You guys know that streamers suffer from your „fantastic test“ right? They loosing viewers which leave the channel because of the mid-roll ads, they try to come back but the ads keep playing and playing and they won‘t come back. Many Streamers i spoke with recommended their viewers to install adblockers to keep them in the channel! If that is not an indicator to you Twitch that something is completely wrong with your ads then i recommend to not be ad based anymore.

   — Implementation Failures and Bugs —
   We, as Twitch Viewers, are already used to bugs all over the place: Emotes and Badges don‘t load, Whisper Function does often not working.

   But the implementation of the mid-roll ads, takes failure to a whole new level! Not that nobody was informed, not partnered streamers, affiliates, normal streamers or viewers. The mid-rolls have also been served to subscribers of channels which is a complete no-go. Obviously nobody tested that before implementing it into production or the test methods are not working at all.

   — Ads for Bits Function —
   Okay, let‘s leave that all to the side and imagine: We want to watch ads and get something for it, like bits. Welp that‘s also not working.

   For months i can‘t use the „ads for bits“ function, at all. Strange when i see that you guys can serve the ads over 2 minutes, but if i want bits to watch ads there are suddenly no ads?!? Why don‘t you use the amazon ads here, why i don‘t see the other ads here? The only time a user would get a literal benefit from watch the ads you block the function? I have to repeat myself: Are you guys kidding me?

   I wish Twitch would think more about the user and the content creators and simply not backstabbing on both of them by spamming the user with ads and barely severing and of the revenue to the streamer

   just because the window does not have focus or is muted does not mean i am not watching
   as soon as i alt+tab back to it, or unmute i get 3+ ads
   this is extremely annoying and i just close it, i dont care how the content was

7. Possible Solution to Twitch’s Poor Advertisement Rates | Increased Viewer Happiness | Helping Streamers Grow

   Right now, you turn on a stream, say ‘Valorant,’ and you get hit with a 3 minute advertisement. Then you can watch the streamer.

   What If Twitch changes the “Advertisement” to other streamers instead? So for example, instead of being shown a 3 minutes advertisement about a food, drink, or a game. Show 3 minutes of someone else’s stream with the “Goal” of introducing “the viewer” to the possibility of discovering their new favorite streamer.

   From there, the viewers begins to grow attached and subscribe or gift subscriptions as “the viewer” currently does now with their favorite group of streamers. In this case, the NEW “advertisement” would be an attempt to increase the pool of streamers “the viewer” normally watches. Thus the increased number of subscription would provide an alternative type of advertisement revenue system which is effective against blockers.

   To Increase the likely hood of success, you can set what type of streamers you are looking for. In this example, your watching Valorant but thanks to the NEW “advertisement” you find an additional streamer you enjoy watching Valorant as well.

   Overall, this will enhance the viewer experience because you are being shown the exact game you are watching already, just a different streamer. Therefore, this 3 minute advertisement you have to sit through will be much more bearable.

   The NEW advertisement is intended to increase the follower numbers of the streamers being advertised. A CTR (Click Through Rate) could be established.

   Furthermore, this will help stabilize streamer income by reducing the effects or possibly eliminating outside factors such as time of year and seasonal events (Income Roller coaster). This solution could increase Twitch’s total number of channel subscriptions. This is better then the advertisement model due to the increased revenue.

   TL;DR Instead of showing advertisements of random stuff, show similar games of other streamers instead. Allowing them to grow will increase their subscriber numbers which brings more consistent income than advertisements for the Twitch platform as a whole as well as increase channel subscriptions.

8. Bring back the option to turn ads off our own channels

   I'm a small streamer, there's so many out there like me, and I do speedruns. People can miss things during the runs, ask me things then miss replies or leave during a pre-roll. I had them turned off but now it's forced on people because of Amazons profit-first approach. You're turning people away and, frankly, ruining something I enjoy doing. And I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. Small streamers earn almost nothing, we put content out there that you make money from, but are most at risk of losing the few viewers they have. Just stop it, please.

9. Chrome ads: horribly annoying!

   Normally, I don't mind ads. I know ads are the way Twitch makes money, as well as Twitch's content producers. But, the ads for Chrome are so annoying that every time one comes on, I immediately close it, and, there are WAY TOO MANY of them that play. (Most of the time, two Chrome ads play in a row!)

   The stupid ones where a person is pressing thumbs in your face (making it look like the person is on their cell, the one with the stupid fake dog, and that annoying one where everyone says, "uhhh....." I hate them all!

   And, now I even hate that opera song that plays in the background--I feel bad for the artist{s} that created that song, because now I hate it.

   I would 100% uninstall Chrome on every device I have, if it were feasible, just because of how much I hate those ads, and I am watching ALOT less Twitch because of them. I don't know what kind of deal Twitch has going on with Chrome regarding all of the Ad time that the Chrome ads seem to be getting, but I hope it's worth it!

   Please, please, please: get rid of those annoying Chrome ads (or maybe create a way where I won't see certain ads any more--maybe a "dislike" button for ads?)

10. Do not place soft bans on adds

    Small Channel barely growing up but I have a very solid circle of viewers who are willing to support the channel by watching ads since they are not able to subscribe and here comes twitch placing a soft ban on my ads. I understand that they're trying to engage with real viewers but nothing gets more real than the friendship I have with my viewers and the support that they have been showing the channel so please twitch stop interfering I'm trying to grow as a channel I'm trying to become successful like every other major channel that you guys have but I cannot do this if you guys or your algorithm or programming starts assuming that my viewers do not exist because some of those viewers are my best friends in real life and they are willing to be there for me and my channel

    It's all becoming too much with the ads. Your company (who is fueled by its content creators) is ruining the twitch experience in it's entirety. Creators are forced to run ads far too often on their streams. You as a company are ruining this platform. My suggestion, only place ads when entering a stream, (and not 6 30 second ads) have 1-3 30 second ads and then THAT'S IT! Unless the creator wants to run more there shouldn't be more. Get it under control while you still can, before you lose majority of the audience. DON'T BE YOUTUBE! Thanks for not reading my feedback, rant over.

12. Minimal or no ads during Memorial services

    Please do not run 21 ads during a memorial service stream. That would be awesome if we could find a way to not do that during the memorial of someone's life. I was watching a streamer's memorial after he died and got 21 ads in less than a hour trying to watch people remember his life.

13. I was just shown an ad for the movie "Insidious: The Red Door" and think that it could be harmful to kids or people with heart problems.

    I'm not against the idea of ads, but maybe let there be a way for people to avoid getting jump scared by ads such as the one mentioned.

14. Disable ads for all moderators

    This is a huge issue. Ads severely limit how effective we can do our jobs as mods because we can’t hear or see the streamer in a lot of cases so we lack the ability to communicate, especially when it’s a large group of ads. So Twitch, please disable ads for channel mods.

15. Ads kill me wanting to watch a streamer. If it was like 2 or 3 that would be reasonable but sitting through 7 and 8 ads is just painful

16. Try adding streamer content.

    Am I watching streamers or ads? Because every time I come to a streamer page, it seems like it's an ad, not a stream. I am confused. Maybe if you re a streamer site, play streamers FIRST rather than ads in my face. Bye now.

17. Upcoming Ad Break notification doesn't work

    There's a drop down in the Ads Manager to send a notification a certain number of minutes before a scheduled ad is about to play. It defaults to OFF.

    However, setting this to something other than OFF apparently does not work, because no notification appears either for the viewer or the streamer.

18. Ads on twitch vods.

    I left an ad to finish by itself by opening a different tab. I go back to the twitch vod and another ad pops up right after... I do not think it's the streamer's fault. It's genuinely twitch with their interesting ad placements in vods...

19. Commercial Break In Progress

    "Commercial break in progress" has got to go. Can't even skip that with a subscribe button or an adblocker. That screen is supposed to be "30 seconds" but when the 30 seconds was up it started over again.... and again... and again and then finally I got in and was able to watch.

    For years now I've noticed many complaining about the user experience on Twitch concerning advertisements. I myself have also felt burdened by the frequent and interrupting ads on Twitch, which have pushed me away from the platform, so I painstakingly compiled a list of data and ideas to help improve the twitch experience.

    For years now I've noticed many complaining about the user experience on Twitch concerning advertisements. I myself have also felt burdened by the frequent and interrupting ads on Twitch, which have pushed me away from the platform, so I painstakingly compiled a list of data and ideas to help improve the twitch experience.
