  1. If a channel raids another channel the raiders shouldn't be greeted by an ad

When a channel raids another channel the raiding viewers shouldn't be greeted by an ad immediately. It disrupts the fun flow of things for the raiding viewers, and can disrupt the flow of users sending raid messages as a collective whole. It also entices raiding viewers to abort the raid on their end by closing their browser to avoid the ad. It's damaging more than helpful.

  2. ADS for changing QUALITY?

I get 30 second pre-roll ads for changing the quality after just watching a 30 second ad? This hurt the channel so much because I honestly just want to click off the entire site.

  3. Allow ads on curseforge to be reported as inappropriate.

The ability to report ads on curseforge as inappropriate is desired. For example: I'm seeing ads for recreational drugs.

  4. With amazon prime no longer giving ad free twitch, twitch prime needs to step up and offer more value

Most people hate advertisements in this day and age. Twitch is a very in the moment platform. Being interrupted with an ad really impacts the stream. Viewers lose communication with the streamer, and even if the streamer explicitly states they are going to run an ad, they get nominal money from the ad at the huge risk of losing viewership.

A couple proposals to remedy this:

    1. Do not play ads when swapping channels (causes stagnation of viewer bases) instead do a banner ad. (like for mobile users, minimally invasive and doesn’t affect the flow of the stream)

    2. Set a limit to how many ads a person can have per x amount of time, and let them know what that is. This will stop the ad every stream switch, refresh, etc. and render down the “uptime” of the ads to a more bearable level. (Also ad some code to prevent repeat ads. It’s extremely upsetting to the user base)

    3. Incentivize twitch turbo more. It’s main function is to remove ads for any person on mobile (or PC for people who are honest and want to support the cost of maintaining twitch infrastructure). For me, nine dollars monthly is more expensive than Crunchyroll Premium (6 or 7 can’t remember) and may be off putting to people considering what to watch and where. You could be losing viewership to other platforms due to this. Maybe add a monthly subscription (I’ve got a 33 prime sub streak for one channel and don’t want to break it, and having more choices for emotes is nice) Moving more subs around will make the community more involved and channel emotes are basically mini “ads” to other streamers.

Shown above, many people can feel like the rug has been ripped out from under them because of the ad changes. What they took for granted suddenly is gone and replaced with intrusive ads. Doing some sort of promotion or deal to subvert the viewers negative feelings with the change will help alleviate the issue with ads and make the transition into the new status quo smoother.

Twitch prime could blossom into an individualized experience where the rewards are more relevant to each person. (Have a survey like monthly, do some polls, gather some info, then adapt to better reward the users)

  5. No-Preroll for First Time Viewers

After having read your new feature that allows streamers to disable Pre-Rolls by playing enough ads (30 seconds = 10 minutes), I think you've missed the mark slightly.

I DO think it's a good idea to disable the pre-roll for people discovering new content. As such, I believe a better implementation of the no preroll idea is the following:

    • No pre-roll for users the FIRST time they join your stream BUT a forced 30 second 10 minutes into the stream if they stay.

This solves two problems. First, it solves the problem of discouraging people from discovering new content. You have clearly identified an issue with pre-rolls in how it impacts new viewers and presented the current solution. Second, it solves the financial issue by running the ad they would have seen in the pre-roll. It's the best of ALL worlds.

  6. Ad revenue for partners

Because of the large degree of lurk teams and point grabbing teams with empty viewership, I’m proposing a change to the ad sharing for partners relative to unique chatters and viewers as a combined total.

I also suggest no ads for twitch Prime users to promote more people having prime, and ads not showing on raids or embeds to eliminate some of the hollow viewing that also put Facebook into trouble with advertisers; then up the revenue sharing for the partners to match.

To some level this will minimize those without communities/porting lurkteams (I was in one yesterday for 10min that aired 6 ads to his 120 viewers and 3 chatters), give viewers benefit, and give value to partners

  7. Stop with the Ads, Bring back Prime users being Ad free!!!

Since this change I've been driven further and further away from Twitch.tv as a platform. I find it ridiculous that the only way to not have to see this annoying Ad spam is by using my ONE prime sub or just not watching content on Twitch.tv. There is a major problem with that approach, and until something changes (and I'm certain thousands of others would agree here), I will no longer be using this platform for my viewing pleasure.I hope you guys get this figured out and find a better solution soon, like putting the Ads responsibility back on individual streamers, since that empowers THEM to generate revenue for themselves, as opposed to the obviously fake cop-out of "this ad supports -insert random streamer here- " since that just seems so disingenuous.

  8. Fix ads for bits

Until a couple of months ago, I could earn anywhere from 5-75 bits per ad watched while watching ads for bits on my pc. That was cool and allowed me to support my favorite streamers.

Then I installed the twitch app on my ipad. Big mistake. After installing the ipad app I was no longer able to watch ads for bits on my pc.

The 'watch ad' button is now permanently grayed-out when I try to watch ads for bits on my pc. I am able to watch ads for bits on my ipad but I only get 2 bits, which is not worth the time. I have tried uninstalling the twitch app on my ipad to see if that fixes it. No joy.

2 bits per ad is not worth it, so now I never watch ads and have re-enabled adblock on twitch.tv. I never watch ads on twitch anymore. I don't buy bits anymore either, and instead support my favorite streamers directly.

If this issue were to be fixed and if the amount of bits per ad earned didn't vary by platform, I would watch ads again on twitch and disable adblock on twitch.tv.

  9. If I have Amazon/Twitch Prime, stop showing me ads for shows I have seen

Pretty simple and as described in the title.

If I have Amazon Prime you can obviously track my viewing history, and use it to NOT show me ads for the shows I have seen.

Currently I get about 4 rotating ads (Cloak & Dagger, Hanna, Grand Tour, Jack Ryan).
Three of these I've already seen, and so whenever I get an ad for them now I just close out the Twitch desktop client and restart it - because that's faster and less annoying than watching the ad to completion.

So maybe you could tone down the ads, or at the very least don't show us the ads that 100% ARE OF NO INTEREST TO US BECAUSE WE ALREADY BOUGHT INTO/WATCHED YOUR PRODUCT.

  11. Fuck off with the ads!

I do NOT want to be FORCED to watch ads that I have no interest in! FUCK OFF WITH ADS! If I switch off the tab to avoid the ad, dont pause it! I use ad blocking software for a reason! You FORCE the ad in the start of streams and that is shitty enough! I want to also note that I personally boycott anything I see in an ad! I will avoid a product just because of ads! YOU ARE NOT YOUTUBE FUCK OFF ADS!

  12. Too Many Repetitive Ads

I understand Twitch makes money through ads, but could you PLEASE use NEW ADS? I'm getting tired of hearing the same 3-4 ads ad nauseum. It's gotten to the point where the ads are making me NOT want to use the product because of how repetive they are.

  13. Stop intrusive ads. Ads playing every 10 minutes or less on non-live content is insane.

Why do you guys at Twitch think it's ok to put ads every 5 to 10 minutes when watching a previously recorded stream. I just want to watch content I have missed but I Can't. Please put an end to that. The ads are intrusive enough when you see one in the middle of a live stream when first going there. But repeat ads at live and non-live streams (especially tons and tons of ads every 10 minutes or less during recorded streams that aren't even live is unacceptable.

  14. Ads that bypass Adblock, this just shows how moneyhungry this company really is.

You guys really need to invest time into developing ads that bypass Adblock? Good investment of time, definitly a display of how massive the greed in your company is.

  15. Ad genre

Outside of the sheer volume of ads I have to watch even with a Prime account, please at least make the ads a family friendly genre. I have been repeatedly seeing horror movie trailers and ads and that is not okay. Sometimes I would have to refresh a stream due to buffering issues, and I am on the edge each time, hoping that I won't get that disturbing ad again (but alas, I do).

  17. TwitchPrime should save you from watching the same ads over and over and over and over and over

I usually do not post in threads or forums, but the recent mandate to force you to watch ads have pissed me off so much that here I am. I am writing this because these ads are just ridiculous. There used to be a time when twitch prime users were not forced to suffer this cruel and indecent punishment. I have twitch prime and I'm currently subscribed to TSM_Viss. Now my experience is all fine and dandy when I watch his channel ,AD FREE, the way watching video games should be. I mean think about it, we are watching people play video games. Depending on the type of game that you're watching, an ad that interrupts the stream for 30-60 seconds can cause you to miss the most important part of the game. For example, when streamers get together for tournaments I like to bounce around from stream to stream getting the different perspectives. But now since twitch forces you to watch an ad every time you switch streams, you best believe I'm not bouncing around from stream to stream watching endless ads. I was watching the code red tourney on Docs channel, and the dude was killing slaying bop bop bop clean em up. Only about six ppl left on the map and this point I'm on the edge of my seat with my popcorn waiting to see how this is going to end. Then BOOM an ad hits. Im like okay, no big deal one ad and I'm back in it. The ad finishes and to my dismay it was followed by another, then another then another then another then another then another. At this point I want to slam my laptop on the ground. Needless to say, when it finally got back to the game play the match was over. So frustrating. If you people at twitch are gonna force us to watch ads, the least you can do is come up with an algorithm that only plays ads when the streamer has some downtime (i.e. talking to chat, eating some food, going to the bathroom, or waiting in a lobby). I mean I GET IT, twitch is streaming thursday night football games, cool. Now do I got to see that add over a 100 times or can I watch some video game content now. I GET IT, samsung got a new game phone with a huge beautiful screen (sigh), can I get back to watching the final circle in blackout now. As am typing this, Ive watched the same nurf gun ad like three times already, and still dont plan on buying a nurf gun in the future (unless of course it gives me the ability to do somersaults like the asian guy in the ad). Anyways, before I get too carried away. I am writing this to say the ads are too much and are destroying my viewing experience on twitch. I will stop watching streams altogether if you guys don't fix this issue. I know you guys are probably like so what if you stop watching we got millions of other people who will continue to watch. That's fine, but I doubt I'm the only one feeling this way about this issue. Youtube has ads, and certain ads you can even skip. But one of the major differences with youtube and twitch is that twitch is LIVE (for the most part) and youtube is not (for the most part... I know they got live streams on that platform too but c'mon guys who are we kiddin we are watching already made videos on youtube. So when youtube interrupts your video AT LEAST YOUR NOT MISSING CONTENT!!! And I hate to say youtube so much on a twitch.tv forum but hey it is what it is. Free advertisement for YouTube I guess. So let me end it with this, stop the money grabbing TWITCH! Fix this issue or you will notice a decline in viewership.

  19. As per GDPR, personalized ads are supposed to be OPT-IN, not OPT-OUT.

Every time I log in to my account, I am greeted with a possibiltiy to manage personalized ads, and it looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/8HUIhPP.png

By default, everything should be off unless I explicitly state I allow gathering my data.

  20. Way too much ads

We get to see the same ads every 10 mins ???? do you really imagine that people will stick to this platform with this kind of ad spamming ?

Most people use twitch hoping from channels to channels and we get to see the ads every single time. This is plain stupid.
