1. A change to Ads when raiding

On 07/31/2020 Twitch responded to “If a channel raids another channel the raiders shouldn't be greeted by an ad.” The Comments were close so could not add to it, and the help suggestion was closed too.

Had a situation occur yesterday as I raided into someone stream at the end of mine. Hoping we can address this so try and make it a better experience for the raiders and the streamer that is getting the raiders.

What happened: When I raided out it just happed to be at the time the other streamer had their hard ad time hit due to their timer settings just as my raid was incoming. So, when my views went over to them, rather than getting the streamer right way they received 2 min of ads. Now normally in a situation where the streamer has already hooked the incoming viewers this would not be a major thing. But to go form one stream to another and get 2 min of ads before you even see what the person is about. Is a set up to have the incoming viewers lose interest and leave before the raided streamer has a chance to keep them.

The suggestion: If there is a way to make it so that incoming raiders bypass all ads from prepoll and timers. Unless the streamer themselves hit the ad button to play ads. But make raiders immune to all ads for the first 30 min of them coming to a stream. Then they start on the next ad break if the streamer has turned on ads, or right away for the pre-roll ads only if they reload the streamers channel.

In my opinion, this will make a better experience for both the viewer and the streamer. Also, in the hopes to keep viewership levels up and allow newer streamers to reach more people.

4. wrong captions

Twitch people. Your AI bros are ripping you and having AI run on all ads you have to then caption them. They even know that AD doesn't have dialogue and then it writes a CAPTION : '' Captions not needed : There is no dialogue." and that is on the screen the entire ad break

   https://imgur.com/a/2OSLmGw

Second thing is that after trying to find how to create an idea in this super counterintuitive forum I try to message live chat since I have benefit of being able to do it and I am met with a AI bot that clearly does nothing and is wasting our natural resources. Then it redirects me to live agent who is illiteral, doesn't provide solution to any questions, and like icing on a cake disconnects from the chat while im screenshotting and preparing this tread to report the state of customer support.

   https://imgur.com/a/8VEgAu3

   https://imgur.com/a/tperEsT

Last screenshot shows the person redirecting me to UserVoice forum - Reason why I contacted live chat is because I didn't see the button to open the IDEA on the page.

Worst customer support experience ever. Your dollars are being wasted on AI and Indian customer support. 0/10

6. Stop filtering criticism on ads

twitch just gave me ANOTHER weight loss pill / injection ad and i went to report it to say stop advertising weight loss in this incredibly predatory and unsafe way and it gave me an error for each report option. i tried to report the next ad to see if it was just twitch being broken BUT IT LET ME REPORT THE ONE FOR A MOVIE TRAILER. dont advertise predatory things and then turn off the report feature because everyone hates what you are advertising instead of not running the ads <3

9. Save advert progress as you watch it

It would be better if streamer ad breaks adverts would track progress because I think some adverts do. I was hit with a 3 minute ad break and 30 seconds in, I reloaded the web page and it resets the whole 3 minutes. This means I am watching the advert longer than the duration of the advert. This just wastes extra time and not generate value for the streamer, and increase dissatisfaction for the viewer. That's what I think. Adverts that track progress make it easier for people to watch a video if their connection or web page is interrupted, maybe.

12. Have Snoozes Extend Preroll-Free Time

Snoozes are used in situations where having an ad play will interrupt something important; the exact moments that you DON'T want ANYONE to miss.
At present, this means that the preroll-off time will expire, and anyone coincidentally jumping in during the Snooze period, potentially to watch that hype moment, is going to get hit with a preroll instead.

So make Snoozing add 5m to the preroll-off time bank. Simple. Not abusable. Makes sure nobody misses that awesome moment.

14. Stop ads from U.S. ICE

Twitch has been running ads for ICE (United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement), an enforcement agency which already had a long history of significant unjust behavior under the Homeland Security act, and has outright become the direct enforcement arm of a fascist, xenophobic regime in the United States.

ICE has made it undeniably, crystal clear that it is immoral, unjust, and brutal, terrorizing residents and communities and stripping them of their rights and personhood. Twitch, by allowing ICE advertisements on your platform, you are saying you're complicit in ICE's actions and willing to take their money to further their racist messages and campaigns of harm, hatred, and fear. Streamers who stand against ICE are having their streams interrupted with messages promoting it; viewers who are unaware that streamers have absolutely no control over the contents of the ads that appear on their streams are getting upset at streamers for seeing these ads to begin with.

These ads are a clear violation of the policies that Twitch supposedly upholds.

Twitch insists that "political and debated issues" be labeled. I don't think it's up for debate; it's obvous that a fascist agency terrorizing a country's people is reprehensible, though Twitch would consider it a "sensitive social issue". Yet it's allowed to run in ads.
    https://safety.twitch.tv/s/article/Update-on-CCL-for-Politics-and-Sensitive-Social-Issues

Dan Clancy has said "There is no place on Twitch for racism, hatred, or harassment of any kind, incuding antisemitism and Islamophobia." Again, an agency that operates expressly on racism and hatred should not have a place on Twitch, yet it's being allowed in advertising.
    https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2024/11/01/hate-and-harassment-have-no-place-on-twitch/

I'm going to say it again: By allowing a racist, hateful organization to run ads on your platform, you've clearly broken your own standards. Or, to a business-focused standpoint, you have been damaging, and continue to damage, the trust between streamers, viewers, and Twitch.

If there's anyone there at Twitch with a soul, take a stand and put a stop to these ads immediately.

17. ad audio inconsistent

ads are volume ramping to play louder. that's first of all intrusive. you gotta keep the volume down. i let it play and mute the speakers, but you should not shoehorn the ******* **** out of this ad business.

the real issue is it creates undesired volume peaks when switching back the streamers audio.

can you ******* code properly? this is just annoying to watch the industry go haywire and ruin everything for the cash grab. smdh
