2. Expand Ad Scheduler settings to take into account more streaming styles and flexibility

   The ad manager and 55% revenue split has been very beneficial for me personally, however I think it is only really helpful for a very small portion of streamers. My stream is compartmentalized so that I can fit my content into 1 hour periods (the max period allowed in the scheduler). The overwhelming majority of streamers playing games do not have this ability and in general from my experience most viewers would prefer extended ad breaks more infrequently during BRB periods while the streamer is not playing, than short ads interrupting content frequently.

   I think that MANY more streamers could benefit from the AIP and Ad Manager with a few VERY REASONABLE changes.

   1) Increase the maximum ad schedule period to 2 or more hours. This prevents streamers from running into situations where they are in the middle of a cutscene, a boss fight, important content etc. when the ad timer is about to go off.

   2) Make the Snooze system more forgiving. Only allowing 3 snoozes and having them refresh VERY slow (essentially a max 15 minute delay) is EXTREMELY unforgiving for content creators. The snooze system adds an additional layer of stress for many streamers. Not only do they have to do their normal stream, but now they have to worry about an ad timer that is inflexible, and on top of that they have to think about and calculate whether or not they can Snooze enough times through a cutscene/boss fight/ important gameplay or content etc. Instead of having the snooze feature streamers should literally just be able to put in "Play the ads 25 minutes from now" and have it be dynamic so that it is not locked in.

   Ultimately these changes can be made and still meet the ad density that Twitch wants, and I truly believe this will get many more streamers to use the new ad incentives.

   Currently the system only works well for creators that don't care about viewers having their viewing experience interrupted constantly (which I'm sure there are plenty), or streamers that are able to compartmentalize their content into 1 hour blocks (this is VERY hard to do with normal video game streaming).

   Hopefully this is considered because I think it would benefit both streamers and viewers a ton.

3. Creators Need Tools to Customize Ad Content

   Creators need tools that customize ad content to improve the ad viewing experience on the platform. It is a serious flaw in the system that creators do not have any input on what ad content is shown to their viewers.

   To share what prompted this idea, the other night a viewer informed me that they had been shown an ad for Hogwarts Legacy. This was very upsetting, because my stream has become a haven for marginalized folks on the platform (I myself am a triple minority). The promotion of JK Rowling's media on my stream was very upsetting to my entire community, as she is an outspoken bigot who profits off of marginalizing others.

   To be clear, my complaint is not about the existence of the Hogwarts Legacy ad. I understand that Twitch profits from running ads on our streams; this was merely one of many ads being shown on the platform. My problems with what happened are the following:

   1) The ad was harmful. It actively marginalized folks in my community.
   2) The ad made the viewing experience on Twitch far less entertaining for my community.
   3) The ad was completely ineffective. No one in my stream supports or condones the product being promoted.

   Creators have zero tools available that address the problems I outlined above. We need a tool in our dashboard that allows us to set preferences for the types of ads that would interest our audiences: we need to be able to customize ad content for our viewership.

   Let's take another example. Let's say that a streamer knows that they have a disproportionate number of vegetarian or vegan viewers. As of now, creators cannot give the algorithm feedback on their viewers' interests. At some point, these viewers would be shown ads that promote burgers and other meat. Such an ad would not only be a turn off for most of those viewers, but also the ad would be ineffectual in advertising its product.

   Broadly speaking, viewers want to see ads for products that interest them, while advertisers want their ads to be effective. Without any tool for creators to customize ad content, ads only have a random chance of intriguing viewers.

   If we had tools to customize ad content, it would not only improve the ad experience for the viewer, but also would help advertisements reach target audiences. More effective advertising would make the prospect of ads more appealing to advertisers, generating more revenue for Twitch and creators.

   I hope that this suggestion can lead towards improving entertainment on Twitch.

4. Stop playing ads as frequently, if ad was reported

   When you report an ad, maybe like saying "this isn't relevant to my interests" Stop playing it nonstop after that. Seems like a easy idea and i shouldn't have to suggest it, but your feedback is just a waste of time (At least it certainly feels like it). If I select playback issue and select "this advertisement is not relevant to my interests) (REF: Doordash) then it should play less like on Twitter/X. What is the problem here at Twitch? Seems like you have the technology, Twitter does, and it works, so Twitch should and so you can reasonably determine Twitch puts feedback there to just pretend you have a say in the matter. Either delete the fake feedback button or make it do something.

5. Allow Users to block ads with flashing lights

   Allow users to block ads that have flashing lights. Your advertisers should be marking any videos that have flashing lights that could trigger seizures, migraines, or headaches in users. It's the middle of 2023, this should be an option EVERYWHERE. Adding that one ad that prompted this was an ad that features flashing red warning lights with a couple sitting on a couch seat in a house setting. It has kids with hockey gear. I'll catch the company next time.

6. Ad Volume Overriding Twitch Volume

   Today (August 17th) a new feature has apparently rolled out because I have not experienced this before. While watching TeePee, I was keeping my volume on Twitch around 10% as I was doing some other work. When he put his Ad-Roll on (which I don't have a problem with), I was instead BLASTED by Ads sounds overriding the Twitch volume control. I was able to reset it back down, but each subsequent ad turned the volume RIGHT BACK UP.

   This is completely unacceptable and forced me to turn off the stream. So if driving away viewers is the goal, then I guess it's worked. This move alone will force me to go to other platforms if it is not immediately reversed.

7. Exclude the editor role from being shown midroll ads

   Pretty simple idea. Anyone with the editor role in your channel is probably doing a lot of good work for the broadcaster, more likely than not, free of charge for the vast majority of users. Someone who is contributing to the stream shouldn't be forced to financially support the stream to be able to view the content they are potentially going to be editing later, or responding live to assist with running the stream. The should not need to subscribe.

   Partners do get the ability to hand out very limited lifelong sub slots, but that doesn't really cover this purpose, and you can't reassign them if people leave to do other things.

8. Proposal for Moderator Ad Exemption System

   As a moderator for multiple channels on Twitch, I've encountered challenges in effectively managing streams while also dealing with ads. Many moderators, like myself, contribute their time and effort to support streamers without financial compensation. However, the current ad experience can disrupt our ability to efficiently moderate chats, respond to viewer inquiries, and tackle issues such as hate raids promptly.

   Therefore, I propose the implementation of a Moderator Ad Exemption System, which would allow streamers to designate certain moderators to be exempt from ads during their streams. Here's how it could work:

   • Initial Exemption: Each streamer would receive one initial exemption for a moderator on the first day of streaming, regardless of follower count. This ensures that even small streamers with few followers can benefit from ad-free moderation assistance.

   • Scaling Exemptions: Streamers would earn additional exemptions based on their follower count. For every 1000 followers, the streamer would receive one extra exemption for their moderators. This scaling system recognizes the increasing demand for moderation assistance as a streamer's audience grows.

   • Designated Moderators: Streamers would have the flexibility to choose which moderators receive ad exemptions, allowing them to prioritize active and trusted members of their moderation team.

   Benefits:

   • Improved Moderation Efficiency: Ad-free moderation would enable moderators to focus more effectively on managing chats, addressing viewer concerns, and combating malicious activities like hate raids.

   • Support for Streamer-Moderator Relationships: Recognizing moderators' contributions by providing ad exemptions fosters stronger partnerships between streamers and their moderation teams.

   • Scalable Solution: The scaling nature of exemptions ensures that the system remains equitable and adaptable to the varying needs of streamers at different stages of their streaming journey.

   Many moderators, including myself, face financial constraints that prevent us from subscribing to the channels we moderate. Living paycheck to paycheck, it's often difficult to allocate funds for subscriptions, especially when moderating multiple channels. Consequently, moderators rely on the generosity of viewers or the streamer themselves to gift them subscriptions, which may not always be feasible.

   This reliance on gifted subscriptions can be unreliable and unpredictable, leaving moderators uncertain about their ad-free viewing experience and potentially hindering their ability to effectively moderate chats. The proposed Moderator Ad Exemption System would provide a more consistent and dependable solution for moderators to access ad-free viewing while fulfilling their crucial role in supporting streamers and maintaining positive community environments.

9. Ability to share turbo between accounts

   Many people like to have multiple accounts for watching and viewing, however a twitch turbo subscription is only tied to 1 account. Prime gaming allows you to connect up to 4 accounts to 1 subscription so I believe turbo should have this ability as well. This is especially because many of us do not want to see ads when we are viewing streams and that is the main purpose of purchasing turbo. Additionally, it is only fair for this to be the case considering the price of turbo has increased substantially from what it used to be.

10. fix the broken ad player

    my viewers noticed my ads werent playin ads it was just a blue screen that says commercial break in progress and for those streams which were 15+hrs streams i got $0 ad rev because of this and even today in a 3 hrs stream same issue so that makes like 4-5 streams in a row with $0 ad rev. this needs fixed ad rev is a big part of my revenue

11. let users block horror ads

    :( Either don't let horror movie ads on the platform or let people block them! When I'm watching a cozy stream before bed and suddenly get greeted with an ad of people SCREAMING and all kinds of blood and gore it's AWFUL and it makes me want to stop watching completely! I've had this experience tons of times, but today it was the Immaculate movie ad.

    1920 x 1080p have 6Mbits of bandwidth, limiting this for viewers that not contribute to 640 x 360p like max quality will reduce money cost, so with the saving, twitch, can pay much more money to streamers and get a business much more profitable. So the clients would are happy of see that some more of their contribution go to favorite streamer. Twitch should explain the new change for comprehension of clients. The lacking viewers will one day contribute :).
    You can also give 1 month of better quality to those who collected a certain amount of bits

13. Ads Regenerate Every time I pause/resume unsubscribed Twitch Channel!!

    Just a huge idea regarding an extreme annoyance. When I am watching a Twitch video on a channel I am not subscribed to, upon pausing the video I then click play/resume and a new set of Ads appears, even if I just paused the video only a minute ago and just finished a round of Ads. What is this??? This is a bit ridiculous. Does Twitch not have the technology to know that I just watched Ads only a minute ago when I paused the video?

    For example, I am watching a gaming channel where I write down strategies, and I have to pause the video to take notes. EVERY TIME I pause, I get hit with Ads when I click Play.

    Come on Twitch Team, do Ads really need to be this out of control? You've go to be smart enough to create an algorithm that knows that I just got hit with 3 minutes of Ads only a minute before.

15. Too many Ads at once

    I was watching a livestream that was literally going to finish in 4-5 min, but instead, I had to endure a 30s ad, 10s ad, 15s ad, 15s ad, 15s ad, 15s ad, 30s ad, 15s ad, 20s ad, and finally a 15s ad. Yup, that's 10 ads in a row totaling 3 min of the end of a livestream!
    A lot is said and can be missed in a short span of 30s, let alone 3 min!!!
    Absolutely unacceptable!
    Yes, money has to be made. But at what detriment to the viewers experience?!

    SURPRISING the viewers with a sudden pop up block of ads makes the viewer
    annoyed and angry. And then blocking the stream on top of that for such a long period of time makes the viewer ABSOLUTELY p$$d off!!!
    At least if the streamer could choose when to show ads and say "I'll be back after these ads," it wouldn't feel SO obtrusive!!!

    My suggestion:
    give more control, with REASONABLE CONSTRAINTS, to either
    (1.) the user/ viewer (eg. Viewer can choose when to start the 2-3 min ad block during a live stream), or
    (2.) the streamer (eg. They choose when to start an ad block by clicking a button).

    A constraint could be:
    Must play a total of a 5min ad block within an hour stream (whether they choose to play the full 5 min at one time, or split it to two seperate 2.5 min ad blocks within each 30 min time span of their stream).

17. Additional ad snoozes for longer streams.

    Often times I need to snooze ads while i'm finishing a match while streaming before I can get to my 3m worth of ads to remove my prerolls. While the ad snoozes themselves are extremely useful to me 3 snoozes per stream can be a little lacking especially when you are streaming for 4+ hours.

    Having a snooze refresh after hour 3 or 4 of your stream would be highly beneficial to those streamers who use this feature and tend to stream longer.

18. Upcoming Ad Notification

    Notified that advertisement will be played soon & option to choose to play it instantly or will automatically play the ad after specific amount of time 1-5 minutes

    COUNTERMEASURE for trying to bypass ads is for ads that play joining stream or refreshing the stream will be chained/multiple ads so that audiences are more inclined to sit through the 1 ad or less ads than joining.
    REASON the reason for wanting this feature would mostly be for when there are moments in the stream which are impactful and entertaining and the moments for when you need to watch what's going on suddenly you miss out on because of a badly timed ad.

    ALSO would be nice if the ad was able to be opened in another tab if possible but highly unlikely to come true.

19. be able to rewind after ad or pause stream during ad!

    I am really sick of how twitch doesn't care about it's viewers. Every time i visit a channel and watch a streamer for a while then post a question in chat, every single time a 3 minute ad then immediately begins. there is no way to go back in time to see if streamer answers the question. the really disrespectful situation that often occurs is when you donate bits with a message or donate to the streamer and a 3 minute ad starts. on youtube we can scroll back on a live stream to catch what we miss and we can even set it to 2x speed to catch back up to live stream or just skip back ahead once we caught the thing we missed.

    Twitch is literally worst then even cable TV. Back when i used to watch cable tv i was so sick of seeing same ads play over and over again with no way to skip or fast forward, however you at least didn't miss your show, the show paused when ad plays and resumes after ad, not Twitch! Twitch forces you to miss 3 minutes of content, not only that but potentially interactable content with you that you now missed. And with a 3 minute ad playing every 10-15 minutes on most streams, it's unwatchable!!

    Why does youtube have option to go back in time but not twitch? I know some streamers have option of seeing VOD while stream is still going, but most streamers turn this off, likely due to the incredibly strict copyright issues with Twitch now and they don't want to have their channel taken down because they walked past a store playing music on the street, so this isn't even an option anymore.

    Turbo is simply too costly, i refuse to pay same amount as a netflix or youtube or amazon subscription for something that does nothing but let us not see ads, and it's not even guaranteed, you can still get ads, and not only that it makes you feel guilty going on a stream with turbo interacting with a streamer knowing streamer can see you are spending money to twitch but not subbing to them too, so it makes you feel like your not contributing to the streamer, but i can't keep paying $5 a month to every content creator i follow, that ends up hundreds a month, it's absolutely absurd and far more costly then any other platform, even more costly then cable tv, and twitch takes half of all money earned!!!

    I understand ads are required to maintain the platform, i totally get that, if you don't want to sub to each individual creator you follow or pay for turbo, you will have ads, that's not what I am complaining about here, I am complaining due to no ability to pause the stream and resume after the ad, no option to go back in time to see what you missed, that's my problem here.

    I always go to youtube over twitch even if I am subbed on twitch! Because youtube is so much more convenient in way i can pause, rewind, etc.

    So tell me Twitch, are you proud your worst then cable television when it comes to inconveniencing your customers? Why should we watch content on twitch if we completely miss huge 3 minute chunks of content with no way to go back?

    whats wrong with you guys? i know you want money but what is this ads spam on streams lately man? its so annoying. you enter a stream you get 2 minutes ads, and then its like every 5 10 minutes 2 minutes ads 2 minutes ads over and over again. you literally make me close the website and do something else. you dont even care whats going on on stream, best moments are ruined by ads now more than ever before. its not like oh sorry for the 10 sec ads, you are spaming 2 minutes and sometimes more. and people who pay for ads you have to know that we end up hating your products. dibu, i love you but thanks to twicht i would never go to try your double eggs burger and i hope mostaza goes bankrupt.
