Stop Running Transphobic Ads On Trans People's Channels
I'm a trans person, and I keep getting ads on MY channel promoting giving money to someone who despises my existance. Someone using her vast amount of wealth, influence, and power to make us trans people feel unsafe just being alive, and insulting/lying about us online to stir the pot and create a toxic and violent environment for us to exist. I do not want these ads being shown to MY audience that was built on MY content. This platform promotes wanting diversity and inclusion, yet we keep getting ads like this shown on our accounts without our consent. Give us the freedom to chose what ads can play on our accounts to prevent this type of thing from happening. Thanks.

They allow it, but it says "may conflict with moderation policies" as a label. Notably, "transgender", "trans", "transfriendly", and even "transsexual" do not, so the issue seems to be with "Transexual" specifically. There seems to be no comment on this elsewhere so it's likely an issue of inconsistent ruling/enforcement.

Twitch won't even allow trans people to use the term transsexual anymore (yay label gatekeeping) so I don't expect any results from this :(

Since channel owners cannot choose the content of ads that play on their channel, it stands to reason that hateful ad content should not be allowed to run on ANY channel.

I'd rather not see ads as a whole, but not seeing transphobic ads anywhere would be better than not, yes. And no, users should not be asked to pay to get hate speech containing content removed instead (especially if it's implied the people and organizations uploading such are going to receive a significant cut thereof).

Preferably just don't let awful bigots have a platform but we know some of them are very rich so yes at least let the people they hate choose to not allow them on the platform that is their channel? As a treat????

I can't tell what ads are happening on my channel but I'm trans and I several people who are trans. Honestly I think it be a big improvement for everyone if you allowed streamers to mute advertising they don't want running on their channel

It is pretty insane that a trans person could be running ads that are directly against them as a person. It would be like lamb running ads for the wolves that seek their demise.

Let people chose categories of ads that can run on their channels and let trans folk, and other mintories, have some safety options with those ads. Safter communities are happier and getting blindsided by an ad from a company that hates your existence sucks

Honestly any company or organization known to fund other organizations that incite political violence whether through direct confrontation or structural legislation should be prohibited from Twitch.
If you use a sizeable chunk of income from your IP to support hate groups, then advertising your IP is advertising hate.
Like, I agree that streamers should have more control over what type of ads play and when, but hate should have no shelter in any reputable business.
If they allow this stuff what's going to happen is Twitch will get the reputation as a hate-monger, and people will be less likely to watch if they're getting these kinds of ads. People will also think twice about buying subscriptions.

Trans people have rights too, and this doesn't cut twitch's bottom line because they can just have a smaller variety but the same amount of ads

I'm a transgender Vtuber, and ensuring that ads with a bigoted or transphobic message don't run on my channel is a big priority for me. I want my community to be safe for folks like me, and having viewers be bombarded by hate while they're trying to find peace is the antithesis of that goal.

As a trans person with other trans friends and loved ones, I don't want to be seeing these ads on anyone's channel! And I definitely don't want new, especially trans, folks coming into my streams to see an ad that will sell an audiobook with profits going to someone who is just going to spend the money pushing for anti-trans legislation. Putting viewers in a position where they want to turn off Twitch immediately isn't good for anyone. There's been problems in the past (perhaps even currently; I am not up-to-date on the issue) with other streaming and video hosting sites (e.g. YouTube) that will demonetize content because it contains 'risky' content advertisers don't want to be associated with. This content is often just related to 2SLGBTQIA+ creators, stories, and other related content that is meant for a relatively broad audience and would not be considered risky if it wasn't related to 2SLGBTQIA+ folks. So if advertisers are given this option, why not the creators who produce the content that makes the site function in the first place?

I agree with this. For marginalized creators, don't show ads from those who want to eliminate the marginalized's existence.

It's disgusting seeing that JKR fascist BS. I'm never gonna buy that garbage so why is it being shoved down my throat? Not quite as bad as the ICE ads but still reprehensible and stupid.

It's right up there with the friggin ICE ads- i've seen those run on streams for games that are blatantly anti-government, anti-military, or otherwise mocking overzealous cops. It comes across as Twitch uncaring for even their advertisers at best, or them trying to say "it's just a game viewer! Ignore it's message, it's just fun-ing with ya! hahahaaa (don't think too hard about it)" at worst.
Maybe Twitch would get better advertisers coming to them if they could trust ads wouldn't go up in front the least-receptive audiences possible >:l -
