Block certain types of ads
I am a former Alcohol abuser and I really don't appreciate the recent trend of literally every collection of ad's for some of my streams contain ads for alcohol. It seems 1, like a waste of ad space for me, and 2. an annoyance and reminder of a temptation i don't want or need.
It would just be nice to be able to just block ads for drugs/alcohol.

wow this post, i created years ago, gained alot of negative feedback against the ADs.
I am proud of yall speaking out. Twitch needs to address these negative feedbacks. I'm not against ADs, by any means, I mean I create ADs for my business, so I get it, but the AD preferences need to exist.

I'm a British Partner and Turbo subscriber. I don't see ads on Twitch. However, a viewer told me during my stream today that they saw an ad for the US-based company "The Creation Museum", an organisation which I detest and consider to be radical religious extremism. They promote disinformation and indoctrinate children into anti-scientific ideas. They are the antithesis of knowledge and progress, and I do not want them to be associated with my channel. I raised a ticket to Partner Support and was told to report the ad. I can't see the ad. I'm in the wrong country and don't see ads anyway. I was told to get my viewers to report the ad. I don't want them to see the ad in the first place. I was then told there is no way other than posting here to object to the ad being played, so here I am. I simply cannot believe that Twitch would associate themselves with this organisation, and I cannot believe there is no way for me to opt out of their ads.
I strongly support the addition of a feature to opt out of certain categories of ads, and suggest that "religious organisations" be one of those categories.

i agree with you on that i'm vulnerable to gambling because i have autism i think they should allow users to block ads they don't want to see like a simple toggle in settings like fast food gambling alcohol and other ads that can be harmful to users like i have mentioned this deserves waymore votes than it currently has.

I'm disgusted by the gambling ads that are running on my streams. I'd rather stream elsewhere if I can't turn off those kinds of ads.

I don't really gamble but I oppose it being on a site where kids are present.
I frequently report them as inappropriate but obviously twitch throws that feedback in the trash because they don't curate the ads to exclude them.
I don't understand why the report function pauses the ad that I have a problem with that I'm forced to continue watching once I finish reporting it.
Also the report function frequently fails, 3 times I saw a fanduel ad, 3 times the report broke.

Gambling is against Twitch's community guidelines. These ads should be prohibited. It is also hypocritical for Twitch to have guidelines indicating that streamers can't say things like "kill you" or "kill myself" but Twitch allows rolls of graphic ads depicting movies about torture and murder. If Twitch doesn't care enough to ban these ads fully, then users should also have the ability to select the types of ads they want to receive receive (e.g., alcohol, smoking, drugs, pharmaceuticals, horror and gore, etc.).... Show me food ads etc., and I'll watch them, but these other things just make me want to go watch content on another site.

Please implement this.
I'm a recovered gambling addict and all I get is the same 30s unskippable gambling ad every hour, every time I switch streams. I reported it as offensive every time yet I only see this harmful ad.

I would like to second this with the addendum to include gambling ads as one to be blocked too. It is a predatory practice.

I just had an Ad for Jim Beam, and the way in which it was shown is literally not even allowed in my country.
The first thing when typing into Google "Are Alcohol Ads allowed in Germany" is a document from the German government which says:
They should not portray Alcohol in any kind of way, which could influence young adults. Don't bring it into a context with driving, and don't use your ads in a way that could lead to the belief that you're more social or sexual active, if you're using Alcohol. So my feedback is, if you're showing for example a Jim Beam Add, with young adults celebrating and having fun in a friendly setting and bring it into a combination and context with alcohol.
(Like the one I got, when I started to watch a stream)Just don't do it. -> Or build in a function where you at least give the option to not watch commercials on things like "alcohol, smoking, drugs, pharmacy..."
Additionally:
1.) The add could be illegal in the country where it plays -> So it could probably cause legal costs
2.) Alcohol commercials in general are very scummy, and brings, in my opinion, into doubt the whole point of "Twitch cares for its community"
3.) Some people don't like alcohol in general and would rather turn off twitch than listen to problematic ads. -> So a loose in screen time, where you could probably earn more with showing other ads. -

Please no horror ads! or a way to opt out. I have to mute and switch screens or just leave twitch all together. I guess I will just watch Youtube for the month of October if something is done.

Hello,
I'm sure this applies to many people as they have children.
I was trying to watch Summit1g, but the pre-roll ads is something I'm worried.
I have trauma when it comes to Scary movies, so when the Exorcist ad popped, I couldn't watch my favorite stream. Is there a way to block certain ads? I'm sure no parents would like to have their kids watch their streamers and have a Rated R movie ad roll up, especially horror movie genre, forget about ad revenue, it'll just create more nightmare issues. Can there be a setting to adjust ratings like No R ratings, no PG-13 ratings, or something... There has to be a setting for this.I don't watch scary movies due to heart issue. So I just wanted to know if there is something we can do to prevent certain specific ads from playing.

i would like a option for gambling ads to be blocked and/or replaced with other ads so people with addiction aren't subject to the ads, also the idea that minors are able to see the ads at all is appalling especially when the ads can lead to bad habits early on in life.

Would love to be able to block specific ads. I have trauma associated with an old job that has started advertising on twitch and it's very triggering.

I had the option on both Google/YouTube and Facebook/Instagram to reduce alcohol ads. The fact that I can't do the same on Twitch is actually limiting my use of it. I would probably use it more if I wasn't bombarded with alcohol ads that I have no interest in and is hazardous to my mental & physical health and wellbeing.
