How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.

  1. Shield Mode allows for messages from first-time chatters to be silently dropped.

A better implementation of this restriction would operate through low-trust-users (where the chatter is marked as restricted in the suspicious users interface), so mods can see the messages that were trying to be sent, and optionally unrestrict good faith first-time chatters.

With the current implementation, mods don't know who are the blocked first-time chatters or what message content they are trying to send. Via the suspicious users interface, mods could unrestrict first-time chatters that appear in good faith while shield mode is activated.

  2. Allow mods/streamers to know/see if someone is actively trying to get around the channel's banned word list. For example, if we ban the word "test", it would be helpful to know if some is franticly typing every version of that word like "t e s t", t3st", "t3$t", etc. If we use a bot like Fossa, it will quickly nuke the message and the streamer is likewise able to hide moderation dialogues in chat so they are none-the-wiser and not affected. We're at a disadvantage with default twitch.

  3. I would love a global moderator role for twitch teams (that the twitch team leader could assign), so they can work or moderate in any of the team members chats.

  4. The New Shared Ban Info feature should have a section to show the reasoning of the ban in a channel so the mods know exactly why the user is suspicious. It makes it difficult for us mods to know why the user is banned if the reason is only being shown in the chat they were banned in and not the suspicious user box in our chat.

  5. New channels have MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS to fulfill to gain relevance. Why are there no requirements to become a moderator? they have "POWERS" and FUNCTIONS similar to the OWNER of the channel, and yet there is no filter to make them a moderator.

I want to bring in a requirement for an account to be able to become a channel moderator.

    • Requirement: minimum time of account creation, for example, for someone to be able to add another account as moderator to his channel, the account has to be at least 3 days old or 7 days old.

    Every day there are…

  6. Given the existing infrastructure behind the (1) first-time chat callout experiment, (2) non-mod chat delay, and (3) automod caught message queue:

There should be a toggleable setting where the initial message of any newcomer to chat must be approved by a moderator for that and any subsequent messages to appear to non-mods. Thus, this would limit the ability of newcomers to send messages without prior approval.

Not only would this reduce how many eyes see hateful messages from human accounts, it would neutralize spambots from having their messages show up to non-mods -- a useful step in responding to the…

  7. Given the widespread use of hostile bots on Twitch right now by bad actors, particularly those targeting LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities, it would be great if we could have a RegEx pattern block/ban/follow restriction option. A number of the accounts being spun up for the purpose of harassing and stealing the identities of streamers have consistent name patterns, and being able to issue a regex block/ban on those patterns would be useful.

This sort of feature would obviously be something that streamers would have to use at their own risk. Overly inclusive block/ban patterns could potentially limit legitimate viewers. But…

  8. I would like to see the ability to disable the follow button awhile Shield Mode is active on a channel. For example, if a hate raid is occurring through follows, these may trigger alerts through third-party systems outside of Shield Mode's control.

The ability to temporarily disable the ability to follow a channel during an attack mitigates this impact significantly.

  9. Sometimes viewers are accidently banned in a stream due to a mis-click by the streamer or moderator. They are normally quickly unbanned but the viewer will show up in other streams as "banned" to to the banned viewer sharing. If the original streamer who banned them unbans them within say 10 minutes it would be good if the viewer then dropped off the "shared banned" listing.

  10. Recently in the twitch community, there has been a rise of hot tub streamers also known as the "Hot Tub Meta". This has been a very controversial issue but I'm going to give my thoughts on the issue and hopefully twitch will do something about this. On twitch TOS it's stated "Content or camera focus on breasts, buttocks, or pelvic region, including poses that deliberately highlight these elements". This means any sort of content that deliberately does these would be against TOS. Now when we look at how the Hot Tub Meta we can see that it's unhealthy and unfair…

  11. The shield mode should have an API. Its main purpose is to react quickly to a massive influx of people, but... Sometimes we would like to react differently than the others times.

With an API we could define different ways to react and assign each of them to a different Stream Deck button (or other devices). We wouldn't need to waste time to change the shield parameters each time.

    • we lack an option that could belong into the shield mode: remove the last follows / block the incomming ones.

  13. Sponsored gambling streams should not be allowed on Twitch because of Twitch's policies and sponsored gambling streams effects.

On the twitch safety center it states that community comes first and safety is personal. Allowing sponsored gambling steams on twitch goes against these policies by not first helping the community but rather turning a blind eye to them, and not the safety of those viewers as they are being exploited for profit.

Not allowing sponsored gambling steams will stop exportation of viewers for profit. The website pays the content creator to gamble on their gambling platform. They do this to get…

  14. When a streamer is suspended or banned, that streamer has no idea what the actual violation was and when it took place.

The violation is too vague and doesn't offer any specific details to the streamer and they have no idea when the specific violation took place. This is something streamers need so they don't make the same mistake again. If the TOS and Community Violations are being clarified, the same should go for the reason why a streamer was banned.

A clearer understanding of the rules should come with a clearer understanding of when a violation occurred and will…

  15. It would be great if new users were required to fill out a CAPTCHA before making an account. It would help get rid of all the fake engagement and prevent mass of bot accounts from being made.

Twitch use to have it in 2017, but it appears to be gone now - its unclear if removing CAPTCHA from account creation was intentional or accident.

  16. For streamers and moderators, the ability to add highlighted notes to users' nicks to remember important information they once shared.
Like gender, birthdays, pets, favorite things...
I'm a costreamer with my husband and a moderator of his live and others and I really miss it.

  17. Stricter gambling rules. Make gambling accessible to users that have proven to be 18 or older. Make "gambling" category in twitch unaccessible to users that havent proven their age with valid ID. Streamers who gamble in different category receive temporary or permanent ban. Gambling has been raising concern over the years in Twitch. This ia an idea how to restrict under age users from watching gambling streams and how Twitch could strengthen their gambling rules.

  18. This should be a simple feature to add, if I blocked a user, make it so that user will not see my channel listed on the directory.

You already have it so a banned user will not see chat, expand this to also cover the directories, so they can't see your channel even being listed on that user account.

  19. Shared bans should include mod notes. There is a big difference between spamming emotes vs. doing something really horrible (racist comments, etc). It would be nice to know what we're dealing with so we can make a decision accordingly.

  20. Recently (coinciding with the Helix Raids API being released in open beta), the rate limit on "Raid Now" has been increased to 10 per 10 minutes.

Previously this was set to 3 per 30 minutes (and was even abused by hate raiders who found a bypass for this rate limit; now, such a bypass isn't even necessary as a malicious user can do 60 raids per hour instead of just 6).

There is no normal use case I can think of that justifies this high of a rate limit, and it is ripe for abuse: trolls can create accounts…
