i agree that there should at least be a designation regarding Smoking and a separate designation regarding Drinking.

within drinking, i think intoxication is unfair to assume that a person is streaming intoxication due to a glass of alcohol.

within smoking, i think tobacco use and pot use are not interchangeable, as many tobacco smokers and pot smokers do not mix well with each other.

that all being said, i do not get intoxicated with the pot i smoke, it is legal for use in film and broadcast as set by international broadcasting standards. yet this labeling i have to use is unfair to put me in this same category as people who drink on stream in the same category as those who get drunk on stream.

instead of antialcohol verbage or antismoking verbage, i would rather it read "alcohol friendly" and "smoker friendly" so as to be be inclusive of people who are looking for a streamer that would welcome new members who also drink alcohol, much similarly as to how the community of pot supporters use the term "420 friendly".

Consider for example - just the TOPIC is enough. If someone is live and discussing smoking or drinking - or farther, sex and drugs - if these are the topics that are generally adult topics, the presence of the topic certainly is not indicative of intoxication or use. This is why i believe "smoking" and "drinking" should easily be their own adult tags. While "sex" and "drugs" (such as having sex while broadcasting, or doing hard drugs like shooting cocaine on stream) these may seem like no brainers - but the topic still is very relevant. there are many artists who draw sexualized things, like consider a comic artist or graphic novel artist who brings their art studio to twitch, a **** character, or a character on hard drugs, (much how video games often use **** characters, implied sex and/or hard drug use).

I try to view things like this, these "self restrictions" i believe should exist for TWO reasons.

REASON ONE : Just like a hashtag, the proper tag helps connect likeminded viewers.

REASON TWO : Just like any trigger warning, a viewer should have the freedom to decide to not watch a broadcast, as sex, drugs, alcohol, smoking, gambling, and so on, all can be different triggers to different people.

I hope i did a good job describing this! In the broadcast world internationally, these topics are used for classification, not moral weight. As a platform representing a rather large amount of viewers and broadcasters, what i'm bringing up is, if i had to sum it up in one word, is COMMUNITY DISCOVERABILITY. Why would I sum it up as such? well, if stoners can't find other stoners - they are gonna end up in other streamers rooms. if drinkers can't find other drinkers - they are gonna end up in other streamers rooms. and so on! this would go rather far to reduce conflict between these very different communities, and prevent something from happening on twitch that has happened on every platform to adult streamers of all varieties, which is ShadowBan. Its a very real thing that i have experienced as a smoking content creator. Personally, i've never tried gaming the system, but in reality, MANY creators are literally terrified to be honest about these tags because they have experienced shadowban and feel like they have to abandon integrity just to participate. This has gotten worse and worse over time, with content creators censoring themselves more and more, using childspeak to discuss adult themes while avoiding selftagging these restrictions due to the negative implication from platforms surrounding the topics.

There shouldn’t be a separation for the fact that All alcohol contains some level of ethanol and in the medical field Ethanol is classed as a high dangerous drug so I do not agree with you and urge everyone who voted this to go look at all the toxic chemicals that are in Alcohol.

Completely agree with this statement. Drug use, tobacco use, and alcohol consumption should all be separate categories. To lump them all in together could potentially cause streamers to lose viewers if they see that label. Please separate the categories!

These things are not the same. Grouping them together is harmful and not ok.
