1. Do Not Show my Channel to any user I have blocked on the directory.

   This should be a simple feature to add, if I blocked a user, make it so that user will not see my channel listed on the directory.

   You already have it so a banned user will not see chat, expand this to also cover the directories, so they can't see your channel even being listed on that user account.

2. Show viewers everything a channel owner or moderator can see about them in chat

   In light of features like shared ban info https://safety.twitch.tv/s/article/Safer-Together-Making-Twitch-Safer-with-Shared-Ban-Info , the suspicious user controls https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/suspicious-user-controls and users getting marked as suspicious (but not unmarked) as soon as a channel they are banned from raids another, I would like to request that you be more transparent about the effects of this terrible and poorly implemented "feature".
   When I saw the announcement about it at TwitchCon EU 2022 in Amsterdam last year, it was already immediately obvious to me, that these features, intended to curtail harassment, are more than likely a poor aid, and much more likely to be abused as a vehicle for harassment instead.
   Streamers on Twitch and their moderators, by and large, are not professional, and generally unable to recognize the difference between having a disagreement and harassment. This is made worse, when you consider that moderators are mostly chosen for their presence in the chat, which results in a significant majority of moderators being the type of person who is never busy, because they can't work due to a disability or mental illness. This leads to overaggressive ban behavior in certain channels. Banning viewers for "entertainment" as a practical joke (which might end up leaving you marked suspicious or restricted because the ban was so short, the task to unmark from unbanning completes before the task to mark from the ban), and a whole host of other unprofessional behaviors.
   These "anti-harassment" features, as you call them, are wholly incompatible with the notion of "the channel owner is free to ban whoever they want, whenever they want" as well. Since now doing so, is likely to mark the banned user as "suspicious" in other channels over what can be something as simple and insignificant as personal differences. But the tools you provided are advertised as a anti-harassment tool. The impression of any channel owner or moderator who is faced with a "suspicious user" will be that this user is suspicious first and foremost, and they will not be lead to the thought of "innocent until proven guilty", but more often go as far as "this user is suspicious, it must be for a reasons, let's ban them just to be safe". It should hopefully be obvious what the future entails: There are now two channels this user is banned from, given time and more raids from these channels to other channels, the effects will amplify. Being on your best behavior, like your FAQ on these features suggests does not help. In fact, often enough, you will not even be given the chance. If there are people who are harassing you using these tools, they will even use phrases like "check the ban count" or "check where this user is banned in the mod view" to support their false claim of the user they are harassing to be abusive, in hopes that the user gets banned from a channel and the problem further amplified.
   Since these details are only shown to moderators if they manually look at the viewer card or if you send a chat message in the channel, and a viewer may have reasonable interest in not calling this kind of attention to themselves, please provide a small alert, similar to the alert that shows when a channel is in follower or subscriber only chat mode, that shows the viewer this information before they try to talk in the channel. Viewers may also want to avoid to use bits, channel subscriptions (even if they only do so anonymously) and channel point redemptions, or even just watch the channel they are marked as suspicious or restricted from chatting in, because they do not want to render financial support to those who present as hostile against them or who emotionally support or side with their abusers and harassers.

4. Gambling

   Hello twitch,

   Please start enforcing your community guidelines rules regarding gambling as outlined in the October 18th 2022 disclosure. For some reason you choose to ban sites such as "stake" and "rollbit", but allow others that are much worse such as "punt".

   The October 18th post states that Twitch will "prohibit any streaming of listed sites that contain slots, roulette, and dice games and are unlicensed in the U.S.", yet the site "punt" is not only illegal in the United States, but they also have no KYC, meaning anyone of any age can play on the site.

   Please add this site to the prohibited sites list.

5. Analysis of a Hate Raid Bot account & Technical Solutions to Solve this Problem

   I'm a Twitch moderator for 3 small Affiliate streamers. I'm also a former tech support escalations agent for multiple companies & have a business degree, & I do free small business consulting to help small streamers reach Affiliate, start their streaming business, & grow their own communities on Twitch, because I think people have potential to work for themselves doing a job they enjoy & that Twitch has a lot of potential to be a platform to help them do it.

   It was the community potential that made me spend the last 10 months learning the platform to help others who were just getting started & that's why I'd rather not leave, I'd rather just help Twitch Do Better with practical solutions based on my insight, because bots are a complicated issue with a lot of factors that are hard to manage, & these particular bots are more sophisticated than simple chat spam bots.

   So I've evaluated how the hate raid bots operate by studying one that follow/unfollowed my streamer & others that caught my attention while I waited for the report to be actioned & for Twitch to shut it down. These bots are exploiting vulnerabilities within Twitch to keep coming back, hosting Twitch Partners to harvest IPs & spread from their popularity & viewers to find tagged accounts to hate raid.

   They hide from the search algorithms so they don't come up under a name search & instead reroute to a dormant, inactive, randomly chosen twitch account they base their names off of. These bots have also already caused at least one small non-affiliate streamer to get banned by Twitch & have to fight to be reinstated, & if Hoss00312 hadn't gone on a twitter rant & linked his twitter on his Twitch page, I wouldn't have known he was actually a victim of the bot problem & not a participant.

   Hate raid bot Hoss00312_ gained over 10k followers in the 18 hours I monitored it waiting for my report to be actioned, because there was no category that made sense to report a bot that never chatted & nothing about its page or content was the problem, so I had to go for a vague "something else" category which likely put it at a lower priority.

   And streamers don't seem to understand a ban doesn't block anything but chat & these bots in particular un-ban themselves, come back, & follow again & again waiting for the day they use a tag to conduct a hate raid. Banning is incredibly easy & the reporting is complicated & overwhelming particularly to someone who's either shocked or upset or afraid, so streamers haven't been submitting reports for Twitch to actually review the accounts, just muting them from blasting their chat.

   Below is the practical back end technical changes that Twitch can make that will resolve a lot of issues, help Twitch streamers & viewers understand & utilize the the reporting process, get rid of at least this type of sophisticated hate raid bot & help prevent & manage others that come up in the future.

   1- These bots are hosting Twitch Partners to harvest IPs & hunt for targets who stream with identity tags to hate raid.

   Solution- Bring back the ability for streamers & moderators to see who is hosting their page in the Stream Manager & the option to manually remove themselves from being hosted.
   

   Add a pop up "why do you want to be unhosted from this channel?" with options including "Suspected bot account" & make that create a report for Twitch Support to review with a link to block the account.
   If a 3+ month dormant streamer account is added to an auto host list, trigger an email telling them.
   

   2- People believe enough bans & public outcry will trigger Twitch Support to look into an account which demotivates them to report & block

   Solution- Lower the threshold for bans on an account to trigger a report to Twitch to investigate, accounts catching 50+ bans an hour are either a bot or a toxic chat troll.
   

   Rename "ban" to "mute" & give a pop up asking if the account needs to be reported for hate speech/hostility or as a bot so users better understand that they need to report it to Twitch Support for review.
   

   3- The reporting process is a complicated tech tree with too many options. It's easy to ban & make it "not my problem anymore" & difficult to report a problem account to get Twitch to investigate.

   Solution- Simplify the reporting process, start with WHAT the problem is, then WHERE the problem is with a text box at the bottom for added notes. Make it easy for people to report bot accounts & let back end keyword algorithms filter it down the tech tree to the right department in Twitch Support for review.
   

   Add an internal flag on accounts that spam-report multiple streamers across multiple days to investigate for potential reporting abuse.
   

   4- Hate raid bots fill chat with hate speech & the only option for streamers to spare their followers & themselves is to clear chat for the whole stream, which impacts their content & ability of other streamers or viewers to report.

   Solution- Take away "Clear chat" & replace it with "Blackout chat," add censor boxes to the last 2 minutes of chat & time out all chatters for 5 minutes to give everyone a time to submit reports.
   

   Add a subcategory to "View Recent Raids" to see all chat names that came with the raid & a "Report this Raid" mass report/ban/block option.
   

   5- The hate raid bots don't show up in search & scapegoat legitimate accounts & open multiple gibberish string screen name bot accounts to conduct hate raids.

   Solution- Internally flag multiple close variations of a name & random gibberish string names so any reports on those accounts are automatically set at a higher urgency for a review of the chain of accounts.
   

   Check your search priority algorithms to see how bots at 25k+ follows are evading search results.
   

   6- Hate raid bots gain followers & grow extremely fast, sometimes 1k follows an hour.

   Solution- Flag accounts that gain follows too fast to be organic growth or human effort for review, add an exception for accounts that actively stream content to account for popularity growth.

6. Let musicians provide proof exempting them from muted VODs/copyright strikes for their own content!

   I play my own band's music and keep getting my VODs muted and automatically stopped publishing my VODs. My music category streams when I play covers are set not to publish per DMCA guidelines. But I purposely premiere new songs, lyric videos, and use our songs as intro/outro on gaming streams so they can exist in the VODs.

7. The problem of rigid rules

   Most of the community twitch (and especially Russian-speaking) is angry about the rigid rules of the platform, we are angry that twitch can ban the channel for just 1 word, while the platform makes absolutely no difference to the context in which the word was said, perhaps the streamer was just reading the news and in the text was a word that does not like twitch, and for the fact that the streamer says this word he will be instantly banned for example for "incitement to hatred" although there was no talk of any incitement to hatred, the streamer just read the text and he for this can easily be banned for a month. We would like to see twitch more reasonable approach to this issue, and do not ban streamers just for the fact of the spoken word.

9. Stop banning innocent users who barely use their account for "botting or automated account"

   There are numerous users out there who have been away from Twitch for various reasons, like busy working, on holiday, forgetting their account, etc. who then return to Twitch only to discover their account has been banned for "botting or automated account".

   Case and point: my boyfriend, who was banned by twitch on Jan 29 2023 for botting [which he's never ever done], unbanned, and then banned again Feb 13 for the exact same reason. They're also MY ONLY MOD, so by banning them, you've effectively made my stream more vulnerable.

   Put yourselves in their shoes. What if you were away to make food and come back to see a ban for botting? What if you had to work in a stressful environment day in day out, and then return to twitch after a while to see you've been banned? What about the streamers who rely on these users to be mods?

   Meanwhile, there are users out there who are clearly botting, embedding their stream onto other sites to artificially inflate their viewcount to get higher spots on the discover page, and they don't get banned, they don't get told not to do it, or anything. not even a slap on the wrist.

   YOUR OWN EMAILS STATE THAT "If you are not responsible for botting, Twitch will not take action against you." WHICH IS A COMPLETE LIE.

10. Add option to download Whisper history with a specific user as a .txt file

    Although not strictly limited to it being for safety reasons, having an option to download Twitch Whisper chat history as a .txt file is a feature that is missing from Twitch. It would be an extremely useful tool for reporting any harassment that occurs, particularly if there has been a long history of infrequent messages. I'm sure there are other uses for this tool that are not related to harassment too; but it just seems like a feature that is available on a number of other social media platforms, but is misisng on Twitch.

11. I cannot know whether or not I should appeal something without evidence of what actually happened.

    I was recently suspended with the option to appeal. Problem is, I can’t appeal something if I can’t see what I was suspended for.

    I was not sent any proof of what I was suspended for. How am I supposed to appeal something if I am not given proof of what happened?

    For example “You are suspended. Appeal here.”

    “Appeal what? What did I do that needs to be appealed?”

    Was there a legit nip slip that obviously does not warrant an appeal? Cheap clothing can sometimes be too thin. Is there a particular outfit I was wearing that was more transparent than I realized? Was it about transparency or nip slips at all or was it about something else entirely? Is it offensive to have hard nipples when it is cold?? Rock hard nipples can be seen THROUGH my bra and shirt and even my sweater… Is that a suspendible offense??

    Maybe I don’t actually NEED to appeal something after reviewing the evidence. But without evidence, THERE IS NOTHING TO APPEAL.

    I can’t tell what I was suspended for because I was not sent a screenshot or clip of the offensive outfit or action…

    Which outfit should I not wear again? Which position should I not make the mistake of moving into? How can I correct my outfits/actions when I don’t know which particular outfit/action caused the suspension?

    The suspension notification I received on Twitch when I tried to log in was too vague for me to be able to decide whether or not I need to appeal.

    Why was I not sent an email notification about this suspension, and when I sent an appeal saying “what even happened” why did I not receive an email notification that I had made an appeal??

    If I am able to see a clip or screenshot of what I was suspended for and I see that there had been something like a shadow in an inopportune place, or an actual stain on my shirt, I can appeal and say “hey that actually was not a nip slip but a shadow/stain.” But if I can see that there WAS ACTUALLY a nip slip or something other, I do not have a need to appeal because the evidence is there.

    I have streamed many videos with many outfits, but was suspended for “inappropriate outfit”.

    How do I know which outfit I should not wear again or which position I should not move into to prevent an accidental and unnoticed nip slip from happening again if I am not sent a clip or screenshot of the offense? Or maybe I’m completely on the wrong track and it was not a nip slip OR the outfit, but something I was not aware was offensive at all unless I am shown and told specifically what it was?

    Since the videos were deleted by Twitch, I cannot review them to see what happened. I may stream for fifteen hours in a day, and I don’t remember exactly what happened at what day or time without a screenshot or clip of the offensive video.

    You cannot make an appeal without evidence. You cannot offer to allow me to make an appeal without sending me evidence of what may or may not need to be appealed.

    This is simple law. The prosecutor needs to show proof that the offender offended or there is no case. The offender cannot plead guilty or not guilty to an offense without evidence of what the offense was. Without evidence there can be no plea.

12. Broken report button and dangerous Ad

    The safety button on the dashboard just logs you out without warning, and when I sign back in, it treats computer I'm using like a new device requireing extra authentifications. It's the worst time for an inconvienience like that when your trying to deal with a major safety issue.
    Speaking of which, there's a cocacola advertisement currently running that isn increadibly louder than all the other ads you run, and it hurt my ears a lot

13. Protest and demand for improvement against ban attacks on distributors using URL comments on obscene image thumbnail clips

    A few days ago, a prominent streamer commented on the URL of a clip with an obscene image as a thumbnail on his channel, which caused a large number of obscene thumbnails to appear in the chat window. This was a case in which the streamer was banned by Twitch management while dealing with the BOT.

    The streamer is a normal, healthy streamer and has no malicious intent.

    The biggest problem is that the management officially counted the streamer for the violation afterwards.
    I strongly condemn the management for this.
    This is a very childish, poor, and inconsiderate decision that not only discourages healthy streamers, but also greatly damages the credibility of Twitch and the image and credibility of Twitch users.

    In order to reduce the number of victims of BOT attacks like this, the ban response should be reviewed, the count should be withdrawn, and a system should be created to respond to BOT attacks.

    Here are my suggestions for enhancing security features to deal with this and other BOT attacks.

    URL comments should be able to have a configurable confirmation time (preferably more than 1 minute).
    URL comment thumbnail display should have an on/off switch.
    Even for cell phone verifiers, a function to disallow comments from accounts that have not been created for a certain period of time should be implemented.

    A function to prevent users with a high level of distrust, such as users whose total number of comments and total viewing time are below a certain level, from making comments.
    A function to identify users who "make the same comments" across other channels as suspicious users with a high probability of being BOTs should be implemented.
    The comments of people who do not meet the channel's commenting restrictions should not be disabled all together, but rather there should be a "restricted state" where only the distributor and moderator can see the comments.

    Attacks by BOTs are becoming more vicious every day.
    It is your responsibility to protect healthy creators from them.
    Banning creators and being "quiet" about it is not only a dereliction of duty, it is the worst thing you can do to make BOT vandalism redundant.

    A few days ago, a prominent streamer commented on the URL of a clip with an obscene image as a thumbnail on his channel, which caused a large number of obscene thumbnails to appear in the chat window. This was a case in which the streamer was banned by Twitch management while dealing with the BOT.

    The streamer is a normal, healthy streamer and has no malicious intent.

    The biggest problem is that the management officially counted the streamer for the violation afterwards.

    Unregulated CSGO gambling. I don't think unregulated gambling should be allowed on twitch and neither should affiliated gambling. Affiliated gambling codes gives creators a small percentage of what their viewers loose on the gambling website to the creator as a reward for their viewers signing up and loosing money. A lot of streamers don't even use their own money on these websites when gambling live on stream, instead the website loads their account with money and lets them gamble with no finical risk, but at the same time these streamers are telling viewers to use these unregulated gambling website and use their creator codes when depositing their real money on to them. Problem gamblers have the highest suicide rate of any addiction disorder, 1 in 5 problem gamblers attempt suicide. Streamers that gamble live on twitch don't usually have a 18+ stream enabled which means they are broadcasting gambling to minors which can cause early gambling habits to underage viewers. Also these gambling sites don't verify age or identity of users which makes it possible for underage persons to create accounts and illegally gamble while being underage or in a state where gambling is illegal. This is a serious problem as it can lead to addiction, financial problems and eventually suicide for twitch viewers. This is becoming such a large problem on twitch and I really hope twitch will do something about this so less of their underage audience isn't exposed to illegal unregulated gambling.

15. Ban online casino from Twitch

    There are just too many virtual casino streams going on out there.
    They are obviously not regulated by anyone, as there is another new casino every day, with a new domain, new look, but the scheme is the same (like a hydra, one head is being chopped, but two more arise).
    Online casinos are no better than any crypto scam or pyramid scheme, they rob people out of their money and they are banned by law in most countries.
    I don't understand why Twitch is letting this slide, as this is obviously harmful to people and community.
    Please, ban online casinos from Twitch, I believe this might literally save lives.

16. Stop removing emotes that aren't actually offensive.

    I have seen so many ridiculous emotes get removed. Middle fingers, a butt shaking, dancing are not offensive and it is absolutely childish to ban an emote that is literally just pixels showing things that every iPhone and Android have (the middle finger)

17. Remove the Report Button. Does nothing anyway.

    Remove the report button.

    Why not? It's just a 'feel good' button. I keep reporting phishing scammers, cheaters, and use of viewbots.

    Does Twitch do anything to stop them? Nope. I've flagged 1000 phishing(Not exaggeration) imposter accounts. They're still going.

    I've flagged for cheating, with the specific rule, with the link to the said rule that the cheater is breaking and nothing happens.

    The phishing scammers make a new one as one is taken down. No real way to prevent this menace.

    The viewbots are quite obvious with looped video streams advertising a website or is to another phishing scam.

20. Make better decisions when banning

    Make better decisions when you ban people and look more into it, you always ban my favorite streamers over the stupidest things. They could say one cuss word and you will ban them. Twitch is supposed to be an entertainment platform for all ages and for us older people we are more entertained by someone close to our age, we can relate better and we can engage better but when your banning streamers we watch over the little things, like their adult humor, we tend to get annoyed with your platform. My idea is to make better decisions when you ban people or maybe put an age restriction on streamers who use adult humor more. But you have to take into consideration that some things just aren't that bad. A lot of older people have adult humor and just because they use adult humor, it shouldn't resolve in a ban, especially when this platform is their job. The more you do this kind of thing, the more people are gonna switch over to a new platform, so please do better Twitch.
