  1. use Stream display ads instead of prerolls on live content ,keep prerolls on VODS my experience on twitch lately is that i dont go looking for new content creators much due to prerolls annoyance . you cant treat twitch like a Video on demand service you have to treat it as a live service , and you don't interrupt a live service with ads , SDAs are a great way not to interrupt the live broadcast . and midrolls controlled by the content creators as well . the issue with midrolls is that sometimes the midrolls are longer than the…

  2. I would like to see a subscription to make a channel ad-free for all viewers, not just people with accounts, subscribers, followers or anything, I know turbo exists, but that's only for the person broadcasting that goes and watches someone else's channel. What about the opposite, what if a broadcaster wants the viewers to have an ad-free experience?

  3. :( Either don't let horror movie ads on the platform or let people block them! When I'm watching a cozy stream before bed and suddenly get greeted with an ad of people SCREAMING and all kinds of blood and gore it's AWFUL and it makes me want to stop watching completely! I've had this experience tons of times, but today it was the Immaculate movie ad.

  5. I am from Ukraine and I don't want to watch Russian ads. We have our own language (Ukrainian) wich is completely different from Russian. Please show ads to Ukrainian users either in Ukrainian or English.

  6. If you're going to remove an entire avenue of monetization for our community then Multiplayer Ads should be available to all Affiliates as a replacement. I do not understand why these were removed when the other avenues were not ready to be released to all of us.

  7. Hey there! I ran into an issue today where some of my viewers are distressed from seeing 18+ Ads for Horror related movies during my stream considering I have the Family Friendly Tag. In this case, the new Insidious Movie trailer has been playing quite often, and quite frankly, it shouldn't play in the first place.

When the Family Friendly tag is enabled it should restricted all 18+ related trailers from being played full stop.

  8. The existence of a hard cap on preroll free viewing time at 30 minutes is extremely restrictive, and difficult to integrate with various forms of streamed content. Being forced to take an ad break every 30 minutes causes disruption to content flow, and is detrimental to viewer experience.

There is no difference in ad density between 3m/h and 1.5m/ .5h. The pinning of pre-roll free viewing to a 30 minute cap feels very arbitrary and creates an artificial barrier to fluid integration of ad breaks for creators streaming longer form content.

  9. What was the idea with ads that automatically play in the middle of a stream. Here I am enjoying watching my favorite streamer during a big moment then all of a sudden they are not only minimized to a super small box in the top right, but the sound to their stream is cut off in favor of the ad. Twitch said during their new ads this would not happen and they also said the ads would be non-disruptive by appearing in a small box at the bottom of the stream... this is clearly not the case. Who thought these…

  11. Ads without music won't be as disturbing. Also, ads which sounds like TTS give minor disturbance and attribute the stream with a level of engagement.

  12. When the ads manager is active, the timer shown in chat AND the timestamp supplied to bots via the API are incorrect. The timer will count down to zero and the ads will not start on average for another 60 seconds. However, I have personally measured them being as much as 4 minutes late. The closest to on time I've ever seen is around 25 seconds late.

While it is unreasonable to expect ads to start with millisecond level accuracy they should start only several seconds late at most. This inaccuracy applies to bots who are using the API to…

  13. When we schedule regular ads, Twitch will run ads at the start of the broadcast according to the "first ad delay" setting (between 1 and 6 minutes).

For most channels, I think this first ad run is pointless:

    • There's hardly anyone around to see the ads
    • The few people who are around get punished instead of rewarded for engaging with notifications and arriving early

If we use the ad manager to schedule regular ad breaks in order to remove preroll ads, Twitch could just give us that first period of no-pre-rolls, safe in the knowledge that our regular ads are…

  14. For a lot of games 1 hour or less ad intervals are inadequate and irreparably break the flow and energy of many streamers.
Many streamers operate on doing intermissions after ~2 hours, which is a good time for ads without obstructing the viewers ability to watch. Midrolls inherently prevent the viewer from watching the stream, and within the time a midroll plays countless people miss key moments in streams which are the highlight of why they watch in the first place.

  15. Give us more autonomy in the Ads manager beyond the sliders. Right now in the ads manager we’re confined to sliders however I would love the ability to manually place ad blocks in the ad manger for more precise control on the timing of ads.

Example: I would love to run my ads automatically at the top of every hour on my stream so that I can schedule my breaks then and chat won’t miss out on any action while ads are running but the way the sliders are set up currently doesn’t make this possible. Having the ability to…

  16. Small creators have little to no opportunity to gain from ads because there simply aren't the viewers to gain anything monetarily.

A fix would be to provide a greater incentive (more ad free time/bits but also the ability to opt out entirely unless the view count crosses a certain threshold e.g. 100+ viewers.

Ads may be what keeps twitch free but there are plenty of 24 hour streams that constantly run on twitch because people come to twitch for the non-TV experience. Twitch threatens itself by changing into a cable-like experience

  17. Pretty much as it says in the title. Interrupting live content is the most patently stupid way of going about this. I suggest the following:
    1. Make the forced mid rolls use the smaller picture-by-picture player and make them silent so the stream doesn't need to be muted.
    2. Use banner ads instead.
    3. Pause the live stream in the background while the ad plays so that viewers don't miss anything.
    4. Abandon the idea altogether.
    5. Give creators full control of when they play and what ads get played.

  18. What is this? because this is happening on my channel, and in my lives, it is not generating any revenue, what is the intention of this? and why is this showing up? what's the use of doing 12 hours of live, 18 hours of live not having any income, being an affiliate, how am I going to grow, working for free... could you tell me something, I don't know what the communication channels are for, why no one answers, or gives an opinion, or solves something, they seem to do it on purpose...

  19. I, as well as some other users, have recently noticed that Twitch has started showing online casino advertisements to Finnish viewers.

Advertisement of any kind of lottery games or gambling is very strictly limited by law in mainland Finland, only being allowed for one government-owned company and only within very specific guidelines and situations. For example, any games that have a risk of causing addictions can only be advertised within the casinos themselves; never on TV, magazines, outdoors etc.

These ads come up on nearly every stream as pre-rolls if I view them in an incognito window, regardless of whether…

  20. Much like with subscribers, a way for the streamer to disable ads for VIPs. I have friends that can't afford to sub, but I'd like for them to still be able to have an ad-free experience on my channel.
