1. Allow people to make a 2nd ban appeal after a certain amount of time

   Sometimes people write a ban appeal they end up regretting due to the cause that they wrote it without thinking straight due to the shock of the ban

2. Delegate or partially delegate some safety reports to moderators

   One inherent problem for the Safety Team to solve is the constant tension between giving user reports the time and attention they deserve versus taking action to remove problems from the platform. The team obviously has limited resources to review reports. If they don't review and act on reports fast enough, the platform gets worse. But if they act too fast, they risk making mistakes. Either they miss problems, or they mistakenly take enforcement actions against users who did nothing wrong. So it's difficult to get this right without just spending more money to increase Safety Team resources, and I don't know how practical that is.

   One option, if the user who is the subject of a report is active in some community, is to ask the moderators of that community (including the broadcaster) to give an opinion about the alleged policy violation. Moderators are normally in the business of enforcing the standards of their own communities, and so should be able to give useful opinions.

   For example in my case, I was indefinitely suspended for having an unacceptable username (for a different account). Presumably what happened was that I spoke in somebody's chat, some other user pressed the "report user" button and complained about my username. At this point, the report would presumably be sent to the Safety Team, who would be expected to act on it.

   As an aside: Some others on this forum have said that these reports are being handled by AI and that this doesn't work. I don't know if this is true or not, but it doesn't fundamentally change the analysis. The Safety Team must spend resources to evaluate reports in order to act on them in a timely manner. Whether their accuracy suffers because human reviewers have too many reports to review in a given time or because the AI isn't good enough doesn't really matter. The system as a whole is under pressure to review reports faster than it is able to do so accurately. Ideally, it would like some way to increase accuracy without just spending more resources, whether that means hiring more reviewers or paying for a more expensive AI or some combination of the two.

   Suppose instead of sending the report directly to the safety team, it was first sent as an alert to the channel moderators. The alert would say something like "A user in your channel was reported for the safety violation UNACCEPTABLE USERNAME. Here are the details. Do you think this report is accurate? Do you want to ban this user from your channel?"

   This could arguably put the Safety Team in a position where they are able to work slower. If there's an immediate issue, you prod the moderators to solve it immediately by banning the user. You also get the moderators to give an opinion, which makes the Safety Team's job easier since they don't have to do anything from scratch.

   More importantly, this allows for a more fine-grained approach to safety. For example, suppose in one channel a user reports something (like an inappropriate username), and the moderators agree and ban the offender, but in another channel the same report is made but the moderators disagree and decline to ban the offender. That might mean that, for example, the users in the first channel skew younger and more immature, but the second channel has a more mature audience and thus there is no safety concern for them. In my opinion, this is a desirable outcome. If some conduct makes users in one community feel unsafe, but does not trouble users in another community, the ideal result is to ban the conduct from the one community but not the other. The issue need only be considered by the Safety Team if this approach is not working for whatever reason. This means that the Safety Team is able to move more slowly, and thus is able to be more accurate.

   The Safety Team does not necessarily have to give any credit to the opinions of moderators. Just because a moderator responded that a report was not accurate or not an issue, the Safety Team could still ignore this and take enforcement action. But just asking for moderator opinions could make the job easier. And of course if it were discovered that 10 moderator agreements and 0 moderator disagreements in response to these requests for opinions accurately predicted that the Safety Team would choose to take enforcement action, or at least would agree in retrospect that this report was a high-priority-to-review-asap, that might lead to opportunities to optimize the whole report process.

   Possibly, this sort of feature would not be appropriate for all kinds of user reports. But I think it could be good for some of them. And there's no reason such a system couldn't be rolled out incrementally for some kinds of reports but not others.

3. Do not expire enforcements which are successfully appealed

   On https://safety.twitch.tv/s/article/Enforcement we see:

   Expiration

   Most violations will expire and drop off of your account after a set period of time. Lower severity violations will expire in 90 days, and higher severity violations expire in 1 or 2 years. You can track when your violations will expire in the Appeals Portal.

   In principle, the idea that little mistakes you made in the past which you did not repeat should just go away is a good one. However, suppose in the past someone maliciously and falsely reported my account, but I appealed the enforcement and Twitch accepted my appeal and reversed the enforcement. I don't see why anyone would be ashamed of such an occurrence or want it to fade away. More importantly, having a record is useful if the same issue happens again. If the same user is twice maliciously reported for the same alleged violation, you don't want to have to clear that user's name twice. So leaving such enforcements on the user's profile indefinitely (along with the fact that they were judged mistaken and reversed) may be useful in reducing the workload of the Safety Team, as well as reducing the chance of erroneous enforcement.

   In my own case, I am currently serving an indefinite suspension for an offense which the Twitch safety team has twice said was a mistake. I don't know what the UI looks like on the part of the person reviewing the appeals, but if I was the one reviewing the appeal for violation X, and the system showed the user's enforcement history with two previous examples of the user being suspended for the same offense, along with notes indicating that the previous appeal reviewer had determined that it was a mistake and the user committed no offense, I feel like my job would be easier and I could get my work done faster. And if Twitch did want to automate some elements of the appeal flow (while I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing so) this would definitely be something which an algorithm would want access to. In any case, I cannot help suspecting that the reason I am currently having to deal with this is because the Safety Team reviewer sees the same records I see, with my previous successful appeals scrubbed. As a user, this makes me think that the current annoyance I have to deal with is probably due to this scrubbing, and that when I eventually get the current indefinite suspension removed, this too will eventually be scrubbed from my record and the whole cycle will repeat.

   If I was convinced that this problem would definitely repeat, I might just want to stop using Twitch entirely; lots of the people I watch dual-stream on YouTube, and I've never had the same problem there. But for the moment, I assume this issue can be fixed.

4. Prevent duplicate suspensions for the same violation, for the same facts

   I was recently indefinitely suspended for having an inappropriate username. The thing is, this is the 3rd time I've been indefinitely suspended for the same username, and twitch has twice reinstated the account (in both cases calling the original suspension a "mistake"). And now it's happened a 3rd time. This seems like something that should not occur. That is, if:

   • The user has been suspended for some set of facts, such as a given username, and a policy these facts violate
   • Twitch staff reviews the suspension (possibly due to a user appeal)
   • Twitch staff determines that the facts do not constitute a policy violation (e.g. the username is not actually inappropriate)

   Then the system should record that those facts do not constitute a policy violation, and a second report of those facts for that policy violation should be rejected by the safety system. In this case, the policy is "inappropriate usernames" and the facts are the username itself. Both reports would contain machine-readable records of the facts and the policy. When the original report was reviewed and overturned by Twitch Staff, the pair consisting of (facts, policy) would be marked as not-a-violation, and the second report could be automatically rejected. The same facts cannot both be and not be a violation of a policy*, so it's unnecessary to investigate twice. This should reduce workload on review staff as well as reducing frustration on users.

   Note: Not on this username. Unfortunately, one logs into Uservoice via OAuth to Twitch, and Twitch for some reason prevents indefinitely-suspended accounts from logging in at all (as opposed to merely restricting any interactions with the service), which means that it is not possible to log into Uservoice via my actual account since you can't OAuth if you can't log in. Oops. Well, fortunately I have this random joke account kicking around. This is annoying and convoluted, but at least it's easy to work around.

   In any case, so long as I'm complaining, I may as well finish: The account in question is called CannibalLollocaust. The cognoscenti will recognize this as a reference to the horror film "Cannibal Holocaust." However, I do at least understand how someone less-sophisticated might mistakenly think this ran afoul of the policy on "mocking, denying, or glorifying the occurrence of well-documented hate crimes or acts of genocide" if they didn't actually think very hard or attempt to check their work. I mean, even LLMs can figure this out these days, so maybe it's not so excusable, but whatever. Also, the term "Holocaust" does not even primarily refer to any historical event (really; check your dictionary!), but I get that not everyone has as good an English vocabulary as me, so it's understandable. The bottom line is: I'm not annoyed that this happened once, I'm annoyed that it happened multiple times.

   The first time this happened (over 7 years ago), I was quite new to Twitch. I basically asked Support: "Is this going to be a thing with you guys? Because if this is how you are about usernames, I can go somewhere else. I don't mind if you and I don't agree about what's appropriate, that's fine, we'll agree to disagree." Support responded by reinstating my account and calling the original suspension a mistake. I took this to be Twitch saying that it was not going to be a thing, more fool me.

   The second time it happened, I had changed the username from "canniballollocaust" to "CannibalLollocaust", capitalizing both subwords so that the name was now in CamelCase. I did this because I had observed many streamers having difficulty reading the name out ("Cannibal Locust" was common), so in an effort to make myself more user-friendly, I changed the capitalization. Shortly after that, I received a suspension for an inappropriate username.

   I decided this wasn't Twitch's fault, or at least not forseeably their fault; I reasoned that the original suspension and reinstatement had left my username whitelisted. However, when I changed my name, even though I only changed the capitalization for readability, this meant the name was no longer whitelisted, since the content whitelisted was just a string and the strings no longer matched. So it would be necessary to appeal this suspension to an actual person.

   Unfortunately, when I appealed the 2nd case and explained that this was the same thing that you said "yes" to before, I just changed the capitalization, the appeal was rejected. In retrospect, I don't actually know whether an actual person rejected it. In any case, I was eventually able to get the account unsuspended by reaching out via other channels. Once again, Twitch identified the suspension as a mistake. I presumed at the time that the same name would not then be suspended again.

   However, the name was in fact suspended again. Since I didn't make any trivial changes to the name between the 2nd and 3rd suspension, my original thought about how suspension whitelisting must have worked is likely wrong, and the fact that this didn't happen more frequently was just sheer luck. I suppose it's also possible that unrelated backend changes to Twitch caused a pre-existing whitelist system to no longer work, but at this point further haruspicy into the operation of Twitch's systems without access to the source code is probably a waste of time.

   Now, I'm not making all these complaints in order to appeal a suspension by other means. I got the account unsuspended the first time it suspended and appeal-denied via other channels, and I presume I'll be able to do so again. It'll probably just be a long and tedious process and make me think that maybe Twitch just isn't worth my time after all. In the business, we call this "Poor User Experience."

   On the other hand, if somebody from Twitch reads this and decides to take the initiative to unsuspend the account with no further action on my part, I won't complain or anything.

   *Obviously policies can be updated, and it might be necessary to add revision IDs to policies, as a set of facts might not violate an earlier policy but violate a later one. But since Twitch isn't actually paying me to engineer their systems, I'm not going to evaluate the possible options for addressing this consideration.

5. Please have an option to hide percentage when using the Poll feature.

   Often I see people don't take polls seriously by often picking the least popular option and end up having 50/50 percent when the poll ends. Having the poll hide the percent until after the poll time ends should prevent this. At least make this an option for the streamer and their mods to hide or allow percent to be shown during an active poll.

6. Threads for official Twitch accounts

   I notice that Twitch and Twitch Rivals do not have Threads. (Twitch does but it is sorely underused)
   You could post exactly what is posted on Twitter (x) and/or even just check a box on Instagram that it will automatically repost Instagram posts to Threads.
   Can we at least repost on Threads? :)

7. Yearly contracts

   Honesly im sick and tired of the big names (asmondgold, hassan,pokimane,ect...).Its always the same thing, same drama, same issue. Twitch need to implement a yearly performance based contract for each streamer. These need to be reviewed every year with a chance of extension or reset(can also be done by reviews of viewers). Give the little man a chance and let the big streamer to rest. They already had there 15min of fame and multiple ****-ups. Full reset new faces new chances!

8. Please add a setting that prevents unregistered guests from searching for or watching streams to protect streamers from persistent trolls.

   Trolls who have been blocked or suspended often log out, search for the streamer, and reappear on the stream page. There, they repeatedly engage in stalking and disruptive behavior within the game. This system is designed to prevent such behavior.

   We would also like to see a feature added that prevents accounts created within the past 1, 3, 6, or 12 months from accessing chat or watching streams, and hides them from search results.

   Just knowing that a creepy stalker is watching makes it impossible to enjoy streaming, so we would greatly appreciate this feature.

9. Need more security and safety for new people in chats

   I'm feeling threatened and I'm unsafe on the streaming platform by other streamers that don't appreciate me and her chat that basically want me to get some money when I don't work or anything right now and they're not giving me respect and they just want to ban me from a chance like I had one from Sweden that basically did not unrestricted me from her chat when I was talking with her on discord about it and she restricted me and then banned me from her chat trying to say sorry to everybody there needs to be some changes in the safety center I think where people feel more safer like new streamers not making all the streamers that think that they're unsafe by viewers that are in their chats

10. Add Optional Auto-Bleep for Curse Words in Clips (Especially Vertical Clips)

    Hey Twitch team, First off—thank you for all the recent clipping tool upgrades! The new editing options and especially the vertical clips feature have been fantastic for creators

    That said, there’s just one small but high-impact addition that would make a huge difference: an optional auto-bleep for profanity

    Vertical clips are designed to be shared directly to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, etc., but even one swear word often gets them restricted, demonetized, or blocked entirely. That basically makes the clip unusable for cross-platform growth, even though the moment itself might be gold

    Proposed solution!

    Add a simple toggle in the clip creation/editing screen: “Auto-Bleep Swears.”
    When enabled, Twitch would automatically detect common curse words and replace them with a clean bleep sound effect while leaving the rest of the audio and visuals untouched

    Why this benefits creators AND Twitch? It dramatically increases the shareability and reach of clips created natively on Twitch from Streamers, AND their viewers for creators who enabled the share feature

    This would save creators from having to re-edit every clip in external software just to remove a single slip, which would dramatically increase off-site content sharing, and ultimately lead people back to Twitch to probably a much more significant degree

    It lets us keep the authentic, funny, “oops” moments that make streaming special—the bleep can even add comedic timing!

    This aligns perfectly with Twitch’s push to make clipping more powerful and creator-friendly

    We all try to watch our language, but live moments happen and sometimes the curse is exactly what makes the clip hilarious. An optional auto-bleep would solve the problem without forcing anyone to change their style

    Would love to see this get some traction—thanks for considering it

12. Stop EU-Overblocking: AutoBans & Chatter Message Filtering NEED context validation

    Hello,

    The more I look at your safety age protection and message filtering systems, the less I can agree to them, despite I support efficient protective and preventive systems.

    A good system shall ask three basic questions:
    - Does the message AND past behavior indicate the user is (not) underage?
    - Is the person's message (obvious) satire/humor?
    - Is the (counter)-action appropriate? (required by law such as EU-DSA)

    Example one: people are banned for messages like "I am xyz years old" (usually below 13). Their account gets immediately locked until age verification. Despite them obviously joking or having an clear account history, indicating they are adults without doubt

    Example two: recently Twitch introduced and removed multiple times message filters banning the beginning of the word "***"(an). Weird, especially in non-English contexts

    Example three: the public Twitch start page shows FSK 18+ streams being freely accessible without login for underaged people

    How is the current system upholding the requirements outlined in the question and examples? While fulfilling legal compliance and cost minimization?

    As outlined in (example three), everyone can see, regardless of age adult content on Twitch's main page without login, while people sending jokes in public chat getting banned (example one) or as in (example two) messages beginning with blocked words are deleted or banned, even outside the lingual context as "***" is not discriminatory in non-English lingual contexts. Twitch's system obviously has no way to differentiate and contextualize user messages. Despite all ads and recommendations on Twitch are indeed contextualized based on the user data available.

    From a business perspective, we need to look at income-cost-risk-benefit analysis. The streaming market environment has ever more rivalry between competitors (high risk and cost), so the incentive for user's to switch platform (medium risk and cost), which are the requirement for getting advertisers who may follow them (high risk, very high cost) who pay for ads, is greater than ever before. On the other hand, the legal risk (high cost & risk) of not blocking underaged costs a lot, and simple-filter systems are operationally cheap (benefit) with additional medium cost of post-moderation (systems) for correcting the high error-rate (medium cost), which increases user's frustration as in bad user experience (medium risk), due to lacking contextualization. The platform's continuing decline due to destruction of the user base may outweight all of these considerations in terms of risk and cost, and the basic right infringement (high risk) may even increase this, especially in times of global political and economic pressure (e.g. shown by the introduction of Twitch Turbo; high risk and cost). While contextual moderation systems may look expensive at first glance, the are much cheaper (benefit, low cost), efficient (benefit, lower cost), and posing less legal risk (benefit, less risk and cost), if we look at the fact Twitch has already age-profiled data prepared (benefit, low cost) waiting to be reused for this purpose, as they run ads with it (benefit, no cost).

    Legally, Twitch is a public platform under EU-DSA, every moderation can only withstand legal questioning when being transparent, balanced and weighted (Proportional & Compliant). So Twitch is bascially a public townsquare obligated to uphold and protect basic rights (e.g. freedom of opinion/expression), anti-censorship and children and youth protection regulations (restricting adult or harmful content access). Regardless of Terms of Service and contract law, with the limitation of Criminal Code. Every message, even by a minor is a opinion, thus touches forementioned basic rights, technically above all other rights, aslong unconflicting. If two legal requirements or legal principles are conflicting, we have to logically assess what is legally higher, the established precendence, what and how we act on it, then we have to transparently communicate our decisions and check whether it can legally uphold. The approach to generally ban people for messages or delete them using simple-filters infringes their freedom of opinion/expression more and by the post-moderation violates the cost/effort and harm reduction legal principle more. Contextualization increases compliance, bolsters the legal argument and reduces harm & cost by reusing the existent age-profiling data of the advertising & recommendation systems.

    The more I look at your safety age protection and message filtering systems, the less I can agree to them, despite I support efficient protective and preventive systems.

    A good system shall ask three basic questions:
    - Does the message AND past behavior indicate the user is (not) underage?
    - Is the person's message (obvious) satire/humor?
    - Is the (counter)-action appropriate? (required by law such as EU-DSA)

16. Accessibilility issues with Ad beaks pausing

    Ads pausing when tabbed out or not in view, the ones that go "This commercial break can't play while you're away" are a safety issue for people with photosensitive Epilepsy as tabbing away is how I and others avoid flashing adverts that can cause seizures.
    Purchasing turbo is not an answer as paying for accessibility is not an acceptable option.
    The best option is to not allow flashing adverts, the next best is to go back on the option of letting ads pause when you're not looking.

    It would be nice to integrate the Channel Feed feature into the Fediverse via ActivityPub to reach people outside Twitch, like Threads does. people would be able to follow streamers from outside Twitch

18. Loss of Chat Overlay on VODs (Android/Smart TV)

    The Issue: Recent updates to the Twitch TV app (Fire TV, Android/Google TV, Consoles) have removed Chat Replay from VODs.
    ​Why this matters: > 1. Loss of Context: A Twitch VOD is a communal archive. Without the chat, 50% of the context of the stream is gone.
    2. Lean-Back Experience: I watch on my TV specifically so I don't have to hold a device. Forcing me to use my phone to see the "vibes" of a past stream is inconvenient and counter-intuitive.
    3. The Solution: Bring back the optional chat overlay. If "UI clutter" is the concern, make it a toggle, but don't remove the feature entirely. We want the full experience on the big screen, not a stripped-down version that requires a second device.

    Please remove access to 3rd party sites to access API ,so that someone can not be able to track the following list of a person on twitch using websites like
    : https://tools.2807.eu/follows or https://t-tools.lolarchiver.com/followinglist.

    This is harassment. Someone is always following me on twitch, where i go , and even if i could change my name , and they will see me in a stream then again they could start following me everywhere.
    After the update a year or 2 ago people should not be able to see who someone is following on twitch and that feature should not be able to be exploited by these 3rd party sites , allowing someone to harass twitch users by knowing all the time who they are following.
    I hope you can see that this is a real issue and take a stand against it.

    when you get banned from a twitch streamer iz there

    any way that you can make it where

    you can never see the uzer again

    only in your ban folder in your settings or something

    like uzer completely gone
