1. Ads should NOT be allowed to change the volume.

   If I lower the volume on twitch, it is for a reason. A twitch ad taking control of the volume and turning it all the way back up, is extremely disruptive.

   Too be honest, taking that kind of control of browser settings should be illegal. I don't know a single other site that does that. Shame on twitch.

4. Reduce costs by bandwidth reduction

   1920 x 1080p have 6Mbits of bandwidth, limiting this for viewers that not contribute to 640 x 360p like max quality will reduce money cost, so with the saving, twitch, can pay much more money to streamers and get a business much more profitable. So the clients would are happy of see that some more of their contribution go to favorite streamer. Twitch should explain the new change for comprehension of clients. The lacking viewers will one day contribute :).

5. Can The Ads Properly Balance their Audio

   The Doordash (AU) Ad and Colgate gate Ads start off (and remain) so loud it actual hurts my ears and I have mute it. I don't mind it running, but does it have to be THAT Loud. (It's not just in comparison to 1 quiet stream, it's loud compared to every stream I watch)

6. Don't force user reload to control volume

   Hey, let's not randomly add an invisble <div> banner over the controls on the twitch.tv when watching a streamer forcing a reload (more ads). If a few minutes pass and we try to change the volume, an invisible banner shows up not allowing to control the volume. Most people would reload the browser which then shows another ad. Now I know Amazon is a small indie company and needs revenue, but be better.

7. ad countdown timer that viewers can see

   it would be nice to have a countdown timer for ads that viewers can see. maybe next to uptime and viewer count underneath the player? it's such a bummer to ask something to a streamer just to have an ad play right when your question starts to be answered. a countdown timer would at least help me plan around that to ask a question

8. No Crying Children in Ads

   Hotels.com has two audio only ads which play. One of them is fine. The other one has a crying baby which screams throughout the ad which triggers some of us adults on a primal spectrum. -STOP THESE ADS-

   I for one will NEVER do any business with Hotels.com because of just how angry this makes me when it plays. I stop whatever I'm doing to turn off twitch or mute the stream till it ends. There has been some suggestions add ad controls either for preferences or even block certain ads. This would solve this, but I've no idea why anyone thinks a crying child in the middle of entertainment is a good idea.

9. be able to rewind after ad or pause stream during ad!

   I am really sick of how twitch doesn't care about it's viewers. Every time i visit a channel and watch a streamer for a while then post a question in chat, every single time a 3 minute ad then immediately begins. there is no way to go back in time to see if streamer answers the question. the really disrespectful situation that often occurs is when you donate bits with a message or donate to the streamer and a 3 minute ad starts. on youtube we can scroll back on a live stream to catch what we miss and we can even set it to 2x speed to catch back up to live stream or just skip back ahead once we caught the thing we missed.

   Twitch is literally worst then even cable TV. Back when i used to watch cable tv i was so sick of seeing same ads play over and over again with no way to skip or fast forward, however you at least didn't miss your show, the show paused when ad plays and resumes after ad, not Twitch! Twitch forces you to miss 3 minutes of content, not only that but potentially interactable content with you that you now missed. And with a 3 minute ad playing every 10-15 minutes on most streams, it's unwatchable!!

   Why does youtube have option to go back in time but not twitch? I know some streamers have option of seeing VOD while stream is still going, but most streamers turn this off, likely due to the incredibly strict copyright issues with Twitch now and they don't want to have their channel taken down because they walked past a store playing music on the street, so this isn't even an option anymore.

   Turbo is simply too costly, i refuse to pay same amount as a netflix or youtube or amazon subscription for something that does nothing but let us not see ads, and it's not even guaranteed, you can still get ads, and not only that it makes you feel guilty going on a stream with turbo interacting with a streamer knowing streamer can see you are spending money to twitch but not subbing to them too, so it makes you feel like your not contributing to the streamer, but i can't keep paying $5 a month to every content creator i follow, that ends up hundreds a month, it's absolutely absurd and far more costly then any other platform, even more costly then cable tv, and twitch takes half of all money earned!!!

   I understand ads are required to maintain the platform, i totally get that, if you don't want to sub to each individual creator you follow or pay for turbo, you will have ads, that's not what I am complaining about here, I am complaining due to no ability to pause the stream and resume after the ad, no option to go back in time to see what you missed, that's my problem here.

   I always go to youtube over twitch even if I am subbed on twitch! Because youtube is so much more convenient in way i can pause, rewind, etc.

   So tell me Twitch, are you proud your worst then cable television when it comes to inconveniencing your customers? Why should we watch content on twitch if we completely miss huge 3 minute chunks of content with no way to go back?

    whats wrong with you guys? i know you want money but what is this ads spam on streams lately man? its so annoying. you enter a stream you get 2 minutes ads, and then its like every 5 10 minutes 2 minutes ads 2 minutes ads over and over again. you literally make me close the website and do something else. you dont even care whats going on on stream, best moments are ruined by ads now more than ever before. its not like oh sorry for the 10 sec ads, you are spaming 2 minutes and sometimes more. and people who pay for ads you have to know that we end up hating your products. dibu, i love you but thanks to twicht i would never go to try your double eggs burger and i hope mostaza goes bankrupt.

12. Don't show me specific ads that I don't want.

    For a while now, I have been exposed to excessive advertisements of "Eti", a snack brand in Turkey, and "Cigdemt", a streamer who cannot speak Turkish. I have no problem with watching ads. But Eti with Cigdemt advertisements are shown too much, too aggressive. This is giving me an overdose.

    That's why I installed adblocker. I didn't see any problems with watching ads before.

    Add an ad with a pause option for the streamer, with the streamer still audible and let them react to the ads with the viewers. That way, ads become part of the content and thus have more engagement too. There is a relatively small downside ofcourse, but its an ad that cannot be blocked by any means, its an ad that might get clipped and reposted so that the advertiser has more value from their ad and it can allow people to play quite a lot of ads in a row (thus easy 6 minutes per hour of ads).

14. Fix Advertising Bugs

    I have consistently had buggy ads for over SIX months.
    The ads will roll very intrusively as usual in the middle of the best parts of streams and causing you not to hear or see the stream. Throw on top of those advertising some bugs and it becomes unbearable to even watch any stream.

    I’ve been experiencing bugs in the middle of ads, to where the ad will glitch out pause to a black screen, not allow me to play the stream for 30 secs or more. Once stream comes back after 5 secs it will throw me back into watching ads.

    Another thing that happens is when the ads finish and it’s trying to transition back to the stream it glitch’s out to a black screen and it’s 50/50 on weather it will go to another round of ads or back to the stream.
    I’ve also came into streams getting a single pre-roll then it glitch’s out after ad plays and turns it any where from 3-10 ads

    Overall the advertisements have not only been intrusive but they are causing major glitches within the app. The problem has only gotten worse with the new update I will refer to as the “TwitchTok Update” since it so closely resembles a for you page. Which has only caused a poor experience, with streams pausing any time you want to browse other streamers. You can not see your follow list easily or a thumbnail of what the stream looks like. You’ll be watch say Kai’s stream and randomly with the “TwitchTok” update it will glitch me into other streams, causing you to have to go back to the stream you were watching and getting another pre-roll.

    Please take my words into consideration and improve the ad glitching, revert TwitchTok and fix the additional bugs that have come with this poor update.

15. Reduce the Number and Length of Ads

    If I see the number of Ads be 4 or more in a row on any stream, REGARDLESS of how long they are, I am closing the app.

    If I am waiting more than 3-5 mins for ads to complete, I will also close the app.

    I know Twitch needs its money to run and be profitable, but several ads running 10+ minutes is not it. People will not sit through it. They will just leave.

    Find a way to balance the number of ads and time spent watching them, so people will engage the site for longer. Break up ads more. If Ads are ran, wait for 20 to 30 mins before running them again. You want people to stay on the site right?

    Our time is valuable, and we can find other sites to watch what we want. If you want viewers on Twitch, the ad amount and durations need to be reduced site wide. More people on the site should bring Twitch more engagement and money.

    Twitch should allow streamers to decide if ads for products like alcohol, nicotine/tobacco, and gambling can be shown on their channel. If we could opt out of these types of ads, Twitch could still play other ads at the same spot. If not, Twitch could write into the opt-out terms that we just earn less when an ad spot is 'skipped' due to opting out of addiction-triggering ads.

    I want to create content that is safe from triggering addiction and adjacent behaviors/impulses, but this does not mean I only want to make kid-friendly content.
    This feels impossible to do when the ads for exactly the topics I avoid can pop right up at any moment.

18. increase ads scheduler range to 6 minutes every 2 hours

    For a lot of games 1 hour or less ad intervals are inadequate and irreparably break the flow and energy of many streamers.
    Many streamers operate on doing intermissions after ~2 hours, which is a good time for ads without obstructing the viewers ability to watch. Midrolls inherently prevent the viewer from watching the stream, and within the time a midroll plays countless people miss key moments in streams which are the highlight of why they watch in the first place.

    Live programing is different than pre-recorded. Therefor, the ads used should be different.

    Overlay ads, like what used to appear on TV, would make sense. Either shrinking stream (like Twitch did for a brief period), or having a dedicated portion of the screen they would overlap (so streamer could plan accordingly). But visual only ads, no audio. The benefit is that viewers are more likely to actually watch the ad too, instead of switching to another activity, as the content they're involved in is still going on. Even if their attention is more on the stream content, at least they will see the ad. Better than muting and seeing nothing that many people do now. Plus, far more importantly, the content is continuous, and thus of quality.

    When Ads happen for pre-recorded, they are a time inconvenience to the audience. But nothing further. You pick up where you left off.

    When Ads happen for live content, they interrupt the broadcast, and make the user miss content. Some streamers will put their stream on pause, but then that's just basically penalizing paid subscribers.
