Discovery: Browsing and Searching

  1. Add Animation as a game

I, alongside many other streamers broadcasting animation, noticed recent changes in Twitch — "Creative" was replaced with more specific terms in the creative industry, like Art, Culinary, etc...

Missing from this selection was "Animation", which many streamers, as myself, think differently from an Art as a "game", and it would be greatly appreciated, for both me and for other fellow animators, to have that as an option separate from "Art".

Also considering that Twitch's 2017 Animation Contest was held, it would make sense to have a game dedicated to all the animators that also stream on the platform.

  2. Have an Indie category like Retro/Creative/IRL/etc

It would be super lit to have an Indie category to play lesser-known games. Very often I'll try to stream an Indie game and it either wont be listed on Twitch or have 0 viewers. It would be beneficial to indie devs too to get their name/games out there.

  3. A new category : Twitch Education

Twitch should be allowed to be a place not just for entertainment, but also for learning and education. People who wants to stream educational content are currently not allowed to participate on Twitch, unless they are artists or programmers. Twitch is one of the largest streaming services, and while there is plenty of educational material on the internet, there is a lack of interactive, free to use services for interactive classes. Twitch could become a fantastic plattform for students, teachers and groups who wants to learn in a more interactive environment, that they can't get with other learning resources on…

  4. Streaming Language Swissgerman

The Swiss Twitch scene is getting bigger and bigger.

However, since we do not speak/stream German but Swiss German,
viewers have difficulties to find us on Twitch.

Would there not be a possibility for Twitch to add the language 'Swiss-German'?

That would help our community grow a lot and especially for the streamers, so they dont have to change their language.

  5. Allow an option to block streamers channels

So they don't show up when you are looking under games for streams to watch.
It would be great if you ignored a user, their channel didn't show up when you were looking for streams to watch

  6. Trans tag request

It is hard enough finding trans representation in our daily lives. With the LGBTQIA+ tag, one still needs to browse through channels and spend time in them to find trans streamers. A "trans" tag would help people searching for these communities.

  9. Streamer audio channels

Give streamers the ability to have multiple audio channels, one for voice, and one for music. This gives them the ability to play music, and the end user the ability to either listen to that music at a level they like, or the ability to mute it altogether. Not everyone has the same taste in music, and this would also allow streamers to play their music and not have to worry about their voices being muted if they play music that's copywrited, as the music channel can just be muted if that's the case.

  11. Minimize User Interface

Have both the upper and peripheral UI minimize so more of the actual stream is showing rather than purple sidebars.

  12. Random channel spotlight at the top of browse

When browsing channels by game, make the top 3 or 5 channels listed random channels to help promote people who get less viewers.

As it is now, people searching by game will notice more popular streamers right away and may never look beyond them. By adding a random spotlight at the top, it may drive more people to smaller channels instead of big channels pulling in even more viewers.

Maybe change the spotlighted channels every 30 or 60 minutes, and add a special background behind them to stand out.

  13. Advanced Search

Implement a new search system with predefined and/or user defined tags like #lol #csgo #kappa #girlgamer #familyfriendly #twitch etc. It would be nice for a channel to have a handful of tags to identify itself.

  14. Ya blew it.

The left side bar is completely empty. Theres nothing in it. You can expand or contract it with the arrow but theres still nothing in it.

Nowhere outside of the following header at the top of the page can you see your followed channels

The main page is a disgusting hash of an attempt at social media with the stupid feed system and the forced moronic attempt at having "friends" on twitch which nobody uses, nobody cares about, and nobody wants.

Your activity is broadcasted to whoever and your online status is shown by default and even if you turn…

  15. on the left side followed tab you can expand it to show all channels, even the ones offline , but there is no way to compress it back

like i said , you can expand the followed tab on the left side as far as you want it to go , but there is no way that i see to compress it back to the few that were originally shown

  16. Stop trying to update the UI. It will never get better, only worse.

Twice in a row now Twitch has decided to try and "improve" their UI, and both times there has been community backlash that just goes ignored. I, and many others, do not want a single from the UI that existed a year ago. I am forced to use things like BTTV to attempt to restore it to what it once was, with limited success. Seriously, fire whoever is being paid to do this. Nobody in the community asked for it or appreciates it.

  17. Favorite Streamers option

Give viewers the ability to favorite their favorite channels. These favorited channels will take priority on the new "following" bar on the left.

For example, the viewer follows TimTheTatMan, Summit1G, Lirik.
All of which stream relatively around the same time. However, the streamer is partial to watching Lirik over the other two. Favoriting Lirik would put him towards the top of this 'following' list on the left, to allow quick access to the viewer.

This is a grand option for viewers that enjoy smaller channels but still have follows on the larger ones, as it bump the smaller channels to…

  18. reorder your followed channels on the left(filter)

Have a filter so that you can reorder the streamers you follow on the left so that you can filter it by "the time you spend watching each streamer", rather than ordering the streamers by the amount of viewers they having watching their channel

  19. Add Pole & Aerial Arts under Performance Arts

Now before you read "Pole" and start thinking "Stripper" it needs to be explained that they are NOT one and the same.

Pole fitness, aerial silks, hammock, and lyra are beautiful yet intense circus style forms of performance art that incorporate dance, strength, balance, flexibility, creativity, and a touch of unicorn tears (to heal all the scrapes and bruises you get from training).

By streaming training and routine choreography for Pole (mostly) and some silks, my intention would be to not only better myself & prep for competitions, but also to create awareness and break down the crappy stereotypes associated…

  20. The new layout is bad, specially for smaller screens like the one I have + recommendation

I use a 1440x900 main monitor and an even smaller second monitor (no I am not upgrading my monitors any time soon) and honestly anything that 'removes' space from the page is just horrible, you can very easily just put everything on the side bar, there's no need to add an extra bar at the top, it looks bad. This is the only feature that really annoyed me from the last few so I felt like posting it. Everything else you guys have done to twitch is great.

For the side bar, you could've used the same idea from the…
