How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests

  1. The same way you can blacklist and whitelist terms in the chat, it would be useful to be able to whitelist links in the chat. Using a bot for this is not ideal because the links is deleted by the bot and still visible to users with extensions. Messages with links should not be sent at all and some links/domains should be whitelistable

  2. When replying to users, an individual is required to remove their hand from the keyboard to the mouse to click on the message of the user.
For a smoother replying experience, more in-line with the current practice of using '@', I would suggest offering '@@[user]' to reply to the thread containing the last message of that user. If there is no last message, this would default to '@' behaviour.
This update would improve accessibility for users that have difficulty using a mouse and also facilitates ease-of-use for those without accessibility requirements. Overall I believe this would improve the utility of,…

  3. Currently, removing a viewer's message also removes the previous message. Allow the removal of a single message.

  4. Please get some community feedback on how this should be added, modifications to chat greatly impact every community.

This idea makes sense, and I welcome and encourage it. This will be useful for mods and broadcasters to easily show they've responded to a question or concern, group bot replies and overall improve the chat experience, but its current implementation is messy. Consider reviewing the user experience that this holds. Although early and only a snippet of what the FrankerFaceZ maintainer has done, here is a prime example of a much better integration you could have:

  5. The new /shoutout command is pretty cool, but isn't able to replace the existing shoutouts that we all do in our bots. Since the bots are usually mods in their respective channels, those users should be able to use the /shoutout command (just as they can use commands like /announce); however, I have not been able to make this work. Please consider allowing chat (IRC) connections to use the /shoutout command, so we can augment our bot shoutouts with the new feature!

  6. If you want to make it easier for users to follow a conversation (which is a good idea, even if this implementation seems messy), let their @ mentions be a separate tab that they can click into and see, rather than cluttering the main chat experience.

  7. Say you have a Japanese display name and like to watch English streams and are English, the English streamers cant read your name because most of them use extensions which cause it to only show the Japanese lettering and not the English in parenthesis. So if youre in an English chat your display name should automatically be only English if you choose and If youre in other language you can have a non-English display name

  8. In the stream I mod, we are using the chat restriction feature to prevent trolls from spamming messages. In some case where we see the troll is spamming even if they are in chat restriction mode, we take further action to permanently ban. But since chat history of chat-restricted user appears not being logged, other mods / streamer cannot see the context of ban.

Can we make the chat history of chat-restricted users logged? I'm pretty sure there will be many other scenarios the chat log is going to be helpful for moderating the chat.

  9. To help combat hate raids while streamers are off-line, how about a feature to disable chat when a streamer is offline? It can be a simple feature toggle "Disable off-line chat", or even include the ability for viewers to chat for a period of time after the end of stream before disabling. Also, a switch would allow streamers to leave it on, in case they use it for community features.

  10. I think you could follow the chat easier if it was not immediately pushed one line up, instead it should be pushed in from bottom with a small animation.

the speed of the animation could be calculated by an algorithm involving messages/minute(second) the more messages the faster the animation.

  11. I've been in several streams now where I see people appear in the userlist that I know and say hello to them and have the streamer warn me about not calling out users. I would love it if there was an option to be invisible to everyone until you say something in chat! That way you can still read chat but not be disturbed until you choose to let your presence be known. :)

  12. I'd really love a proper DM system similar to other social sites, group chats, good comms, stable software etc. Personally love Instagram and twitter format, but ours really... sucks. I have ZERO incentive to use Twitch as a means of communication. I run a lot of giveaways for big streamers and have to DM people which usually results in a blacklist because im messaging too many people, hence why I never use whispers and just ask people to DM me on other platforms. I'd love to see reactions enabled, proper linking and formatting, no weird server disconnects, messages not sending/appearing,…

  13. This is to prevent the major issue with trolls. a Regular only chat would mean that a person has been WATCHING the stream for a set amount of time before becoming a regular, and is following as well. Not something a bot/troll can follow button and just randomly pop in to troll the next day. We should be able to set the time limit as well like let's say it takes about 4 hours to become regular, I've only found 1 troll that waited an hour after ban to continue trolling, all the trolls I've seen, only troll until the…

  14. Background:

I was effectively banned from talking with my friends on twitch this past Thursday afternoon (2025-04-17) after 7 years of my being on twitch because I do not have a personal cell phone to put on my account; the only cell phone I have is my work cell which I'm unable to use for this. (Already got chewed out once for using it to watch twitch & really do not want a repeat.) During the middle of a stream on a channel I'm subbed to, I was suddenly unable to send chat messages, instead having a box pop up…

  15. Leave a rules button next to the channel points to highlight the rules.
Note: I make this suggestion because many do not read the rules and the rules button is currently very "hidden" because it has to open the settings.

  16. Sometimes as a mod you need to tell something quick to other mods or to the channel streamer and you have to rely on other platforms like Discord or Twitter (or whispers) which makes it slow and tedious.

It would be great to write something in chat and make it visible only for other mods and the streamer, maybe a pinned message for 30 seconds on the same area where Hype trains and other important things appear.
The streamer could enable/disable this feature and the time to make this messages available.

  18. The option to assign a bot specific badge to your desired bot account, to help users in chat identify the difference between a human moderator and a bot.
This would especially be useful for people who use custom bot names, as viewers can mistake them for real people.

  20. One of my Twitch friends inadvertently blocked me. He would send me whispers, but I couldn't reply. Every time I attempted to reply, I would see the message "That user's settings prevent them from receiving this whisper." It would be helpful if a similar message was displayed for a Twitch user whispering someone he or she has blocked - "You're whispering someone whom you've blocked. That person is unable to whisper back to you."

Also, it seems as though blocking someone from whispering automatically blocks receiving a DM from them. In situations where someone was blocked inadvertently, it would be…
