'@@[username]' to reply to last message by user
When replying to users, an individual is required to remove their hand from the keyboard to the mouse to click on the message of the user.
For a smoother replying experience, more in-line with the current practice of using '@', I would suggest offering '@@[user]' to reply to the thread containing the last message of that user. If there is no last message, this would default to '@' behaviour.
This update would improve accessibility for users that have difficulty using a mouse and also facilitates ease-of-use for those without accessibility requirements. Overall I believe this would improve the utility of, and experience in using, the chat reply feature.
I like the chat replies feature, it has the potential to make moderating easier by providing better context to messages.
Currently however, I do not believe the feature offers a comfortable keyboard-only way to reply, and so it risks being under-utilised.

You have to scroll through a bunch of messages, find the other user’s handle, understand the context, not mistake it for another one.
I often want to follow fun/interesting conversations in chat but lose track easily if it’s 4+ messages long.
Even on desktop, threads are sometimes broken into messages with @mentions thanks to people limited by their phones.
Such inconsistencies between desktop and mobile drive me nuts.
Why do transitions between those two have to be a pain?
Not to mention missing chat history… -

I like the reply feature. I would use it more often if it didn't do this. Often I find myself using it, getting this error and reverting to simply @-ing other users. Further, I find other users reply without using the feature by @-ing or just not marking their reply to myself at all, which brings down my overall chat experience. -

Could You add the possibility to reply to an existing reply in chat ?
The “reply” feature is cool but I think it’s kind of limited in the fact You only can reply to one message.
