1. Stop Ads During Earthquake News Streams/Streamers

   Right now, we're dealing with the biggest natural disaster that happened to our country. Since we're living in a country with media blockage, Twitch is one of the few social media sites where we can get real news, especially for persons like me who are trying to figure out what's happening in foreign countries. When I'm trying to understand if my citizens are safe, I'm getting 3+ ads at least 3 minutes long. Please stop it for a while, at least.

3. Creators Need Tools to Customize Ad Content

   Creators need tools that customize ad content to improve the ad viewing experience on the platform. It is a serious flaw in the system that creators do not have any input on what ad content is shown to their viewers.

   To share what prompted this idea, the other night a viewer informed me that they had been shown an ad for Hogwarts Legacy. This was very upsetting, because my stream has become a haven for marginalized folks on the platform (I myself am a triple minority). The promotion of JK Rowling's media on my stream was very upsetting to my entire community, as she is an outspoken bigot who profits off of marginalizing others.

   To be clear, my complaint is not about the existence of the Hogwarts Legacy ad. I understand that Twitch profits from running ads on our streams; this was merely one of many ads being shown on the platform. My problems with what happened are the following:

   1) The ad was harmful. It actively marginalized folks in my community.
   2) The ad made the viewing experience on Twitch far less entertaining for my community.
   3) The ad was completely ineffective. No one in my stream supports or condones the product being promoted.

   Creators have zero tools available that address the problems I outlined above. We need a tool in our dashboard that allows us to set preferences for the types of ads that would interest our audiences: we need to be able to customize ad content for our viewership.

   Let's take another example. Let's say that a streamer knows that they have a disproportionate number of vegetarian or vegan viewers. As of now, creators cannot give the algorithm feedback on their viewers' interests. At some point, these viewers would be shown ads that promote burgers and other meat. Such an ad would not only be a turn off for most of those viewers, but also the ad would be ineffectual in advertising its product.

   Broadly speaking, viewers want to see ads for products that interest them, while advertisers want their ads to be effective. Without any tool for creators to customize ad content, ads only have a random chance of intriguing viewers.

   If we had tools to customize ad content, it would not only improve the ad experience for the viewer, but also would help advertisements reach target audiences. More effective advertising would make the prospect of ads more appealing to advertisers, generating more revenue for Twitch and creators.

   I hope that this suggestion can lead towards improving entertainment on Twitch.

5. Option to disable ads entirely

   To keep it short, let streamers disable ads entirely.
   Not all streamers want to make money off of streaming, but with all the fun interactive stuff (channel points, emotes) locked behind affiliate and thus - monetization - some streamers feel like they can't do much unless they make the leap.
   But, naturally, smaller streamers can't really grow an audience if they're either A) stuck rolling pre-rolls or B) Have to manually run ads themselves. I'm sure you've seen enough complaints about pre-rolls and mid-rolls that I don't need to elaborate.
   The Stream Display Ads were a nice idea.... but since they don't contribute to disabling pre-roll ad time at all, it's basically worthless.
   Therefore, there should be a way to let streamers have the fun interactive stuff like channel points and emotes, but not be forced to push ads.

7. GO Train Ad, insensitive for people with eating disorders. I suffer from bulimia and dont want to see and hear people vomiting.

   I live in Toronto, Ontario. I am 25 years old and have/had suffered from bulimia in my lifetime. I do not feel like is a unique issue, especially considering the demographic on this website. I do not know why or how, the GO Train ad go approved for this website. I would really appreciate not seeing that while I am trying to feel comfortable and safe.
   The ad is just very insensitive for people with eating disorders. It is also a known fact that hearing or seeing other people vomit, induces vomiting. Why would that ad be made then, what was the thought process behind it. I think if the wrong person sees this ad and reacts incorrectly they could be hospitalized. Please Twitch taking eating disorders seriously.

8. Scale the ad revenue split depending on the number of ads

   From the latest blog post: "First, we’re updating the way disabling pre-rolls works for channels. Running three minutes of ads per hour in any way will disable all pre-rolls — they no longer have to be split into 90-second ads every 30 minutes."

   I feel like this is not enough. I dislike pre-roll ads on Twitch, both as a viewer and as a creator, because they discourage checking out new channels. I understand that ads are necessary for Twitch, but they're not necessary for me, so I suggest giving creators four (or more) options:

   • 180 seconds of ads/hour with a 55% split (<-- this is the current system)
   • 90 seconds of ads/hour with a 27.5% split
   • 60 seconds of ads/hour with a 18.3% split
   • 30 seconds of ads/hour with a 9.1% split

   These are sample numbers, but here's the gist of it: I want to EARN LESS on my channel, in exchange for fewer ads.

   I understand that simply asking for fewer ads would be unrealistic. By scaling the revenue split accordingly, Twitch's earnings would stay the same, while creators would be allowed more freedom in how many ads they get.

9. Option to TURN OFF ADs

   Why are we FORCED to play ads??? Small streamer like myself only get stunted by them and forcing people to sub to not see them is just BULLKAKA. Why noy give the affiliates and Partners the right to turn them off? After all the only one losing on not showing ads ate the stream. But when you think about it the viewer will win by not being forced to watch! Not to mention that Advertisers will get better placement of there ads and twitch might make a few coins more! Either way FORCED ADS have forced me to not care about twitch or even streaming anymore! I'm not here to make a few penny's, I'm here to have fun and interact with the community I want to build...     Would like to request a feature for us streamers I run ads on my channel were I have no issue in running these ads or my Community seeing them!!

    What bugs me in the middle of a Slaughter fest AD… there’s no Notification saying when a ad will start…
    Can you put something in chat where the Stream will know a Ad is about to start Example “YOUR Ad STARTING IN 30 secs after that “AD STARTED”

    After the AD HAS FINISHED “PUT THIS IN CHAT STREAMER SIDE ONLY”

    This let’s the streamer know and the community not to miss anything the streamer is talking about

    Any ad ran, either manually or through the Ad Manager should count towards the creators 3 minutes per hour of required ad time in order to earn the 55% split. After reading the following text in the Ad Manager support page, it became clear that manually running ads while I am taking a quick break to stretch or grab a drink, those ads are actually hurting my overall revenue split.

    Can Affiliates earn 55% ad revenue splits by running ads manually, or via a third party tool?

    Hello, can you add popup little ads in the corner from xsplit or OBS not from site when twitch show ad on live we want just turn off stream or turn on adblock but twitch can do ads inside the video stream, yes that's ads be unskippable but this ads don't block stream and show the product. Sorry but this is better, obs or twitch can do ads market where all companies can sell ads directly to the streamer with a small commission for twitch or obs and this ads be 100% better cuz streamer can turn it off or enable to start earning. You can create a small advertising platform with a simple interface where ads and their conditions are displayed and each streamer can choose what to advertise
    you will control almost all ads
    even small partners will want advertising promotions and this is growth and forward movement, we know that you are the best in this.

13. Make it possible to review the ad incentive agreement per month

    Currently the only way to review ad incentive agreements per month is by taking a screen shot and comparing it to the revenue stats for ones Twitch channel.

    However if there ever is a dispute between payouts and incentive agreement, relying on screenshots is going to be a weak argument (since they can easily be photo shopped).

    Making it possible to view past ad incentive agreements would benefit transparency and would help if there ever was any kind of dispute.

    advertisements are not working properly as they shoould no one in my channel is getting the correct amount of ads i have them turned on for 1.5min every 30 min and they are only getting 10 seconds ads every 30 min and when i activate my ads they dont work even tho in my activity it shows i ran it ... explain please

15. Remove gambling ads from twitch

    So Twitch banned gambling (which I do think is a reasonable thing to ban), yet they continuously show gambling ads which include slots (one of the main gambling activities they banned). If slots and gambling are so bad for Twitch, why do they continue to accept money from these corporations and display their ads on their website? What double-standard garbage is this? I know Twitch doesn't have the spine to decline the money they get from gambling companies, so this will never change. I'd love to hear the explanation from Twitch as to why streamers showing gambling is bad, but Twitch ads displaying and promoting gambling is A-ok.

16. Selective ad viewing option

    I'm not sure this is the right place but I need to put this out there. There is a specific, local, ad that plays during every ad break. This ad includes multiple people pretending to vomit. It's so disgusting that I have to mute whatever I'm watching as the sound is actually stomach turning and it continues throughout the whole ad. I get the point, but it's gut wrenching. Any option that will allow me to NOT see this ad again (I've already subbed all I can lol) would be great but I can't seem to find anything like 'don't show me this ad again' or similar, which would be nice.

    Audio ads less disruptive. I am never going to reply to an ad, I am FORCED to listen to dozens of times. I already buy cheetos, I shouldn't have to listen to that music countless times an hour. It makes me mute ALL ADS. Find another revenue stream. It is ******* people off.

18. Gambling ads shown to Finnish viewers, but they are illegal here

    I, as well as some other users, have recently noticed that Twitch has started showing online casino advertisements to Finnish viewers.

    Advertisement of any kind of lottery games or gambling is very strictly limited by law in mainland Finland, only being allowed for one government-owned company and only within very specific guidelines and situations. For example, any games that have a risk of causing addictions can only be advertised within the casinos themselves; never on TV, magazines, outdoors etc.

    These ads come up on nearly every stream as pre-rolls if I view them in an incognito window, regardless of whether the viewer is asked about their age through the mature content warning. This technically means that gambling is also advertised to minors, due to minimum age of Twitch being 13 years.

    There are so many things wrong in this, that something needs to happen. "It's the Internet" is not an excuse, as any viewer's IP address can be very reliably located into a specific country to be able to target the ads correctly and not break the laws. And I'm not even using a VPN that could mask my country of origin, so that's not an excuse either.

    For a comparison, back in late 2021, Eurosport was told by the Finnish Police Board to stop showing gambling ads on their Finnish TV channels, with an 800'000€ fine waiting for them if they were to continue. Showing gambling ads in video format during a live stream is very much comparable to ad breaks during a live TV broadcast of a real life sports event, so these ads seem very much illegal.

    I am also considering reporting this to Finnish authorities for investigation.

20. add ads for mods

    I still don't understand if the mods
    see the ads. I think it's right that mods see ads, maybe not all at the same time, but I'd say that the most loyal people want to make mods from a channel, thus losing a large part of the revenue for ads. The streamer for the time of the advertisement can moderate itself, and in any case the chat remains visible even in the advertisement.
