1. Option to gift subs based on viewer follow age or channel points?

   Hey Twitch Support Team!

   I hope you're well! I was wondering - I love to give, and I typically like to try and find folks that have been following a channel for a long time, and reward them with a few months of a gifted subscription. Are there any plans to have an option to gift subscriptions based on a viewer's follow age or their channel points? I personally think this would be a wonderful option, rewarding those long time followers! Thanks for all that you do!

   Allow streamer to enable/disable option to share subscription anniversary. I always check the subs (to see if no one has unsubscribed), and each time someone shares a subscription anniversary, the bot counts as a new subscription and confuses me, as well as counting towards the goal and giving the person points.

3. Don't de-value sub gifts by making them more cheaper/expensive

   While local sub prices only affects individuals and their own subscriptions, sub gifting and sub gifter badges lose their value once the prices shift based on the region of the person gifting lives. I'd be happy to be able to gift more subs for the same amount of money (which is the purpose of this local sub pricing shenanigan), but this will not be the case if you live in non-participating zones; so while lucky folks get to gift 15 subs for $100 I only can gift 7.

   This is also a huge problem for sub gifter badges. If you're motivated by these badges and you're sub gifting, all of a sudden there's fluctuating value to those. No one wants to chase after an achievement where the progress varies for everyone since that's just not fair. To some it costs $6500 USD to get the 1000 sub gifter badge, and to some it can cost only $3000 USD to get the same badge. This doesn't make sense, and there's even less incentive now to be going after those milestones when they could be obtained a lot cheaper by other people.

   Please re-consider local sub pricing for gift subs; I can also easily see where this can be exploited and one being able to rip off a sub to channels for cheaper prices abusing the lower prices in certain regions. Please note that "supporting your streamer" and "enjoying subscription benefits" go hand in hand and they share an equal portion of the pie in my opinion, taking one away cracks that balance as there are a lot more ways to support streamers; subscriptions will become a niche, as if they're not already extremely inefficient ways to support the streamer in terms of $$.

4. Remove "Resubscribe" button for lapsed gift subs

   It shouldn't say "Resubscribe" if you were gifted a sub, instead it should just say "Subscribe" like it normally does. I don't want it to seem like I've ever subscribed to a streamer by having it say resubscribe simply because I failed to dodge a gift sub.

5. I would rather close Twitch than watch a pre-roll

   I'm dodging pre-rolls like crazy. I'm not talking about muting the tab and doing something else while Twitch advertises to the void; I'm either closing Twitch and not engaging with the service or I'm going to keep refreshing, bouncing between streams until the system gives in and plays the stream without the ad—which, miraculously, works after roughly 15 seconds—a net gain given that most ads that play on Twitch much longer. And, keep in mind, the moment Twitch fixes that strange loophole, I'm going to revert back to closing Twitch and disengaging 99% of the time.

   That is to say that I'm not willing to, upon my first visit to any stream during a session, sit through an advertisement(s) that I can't skip when I'm not even sure that I want to watch that stream yet—no matter if it's a streamer that I've just discovered or one that I've watched for years: it makes no difference to me. I'm not invested in that stream yet and so why would I tolerate unskippable pre-roll ads?

   Pre-roll ads should have the option to be skipped or they should be removed. Simple as that.

   Let me be clear: I respect and understand that Twitch must advertise to make themselves and their partners money, and stress that I am perfectly accepting and receptive to a carefully-planned and well-developed advertising system, which I believe Twitch's current system to be neither.

   Twitch Turbo is not the solution where the advertising system exposed to free users is unfit for purpose. Why would I, as a level-headed, principled consumer who doesn't wish to simply buy a "free" pass, want to support a company that fails to develop a fair, working, thought-out system for its free users and partners? The only way I'm going to subscribe to a premium service is if I like what that company is doing for ALL of its users and believe in its mission.
   I won't go into detail, but your advertising system has directly impacted my decisions when choosing whether or not to renew my subscriptions to streamers and Prime.

   You don't need me to offer solutions past what I've already suggested here; there's others far more passionate, educated and experienced in what makes a good advertising system, and I know for a fact that some of Twitch's advisory council (namely CohhCarnage) have some excellent ideas to offer.

   I must add that I am very surprised by the small numbers of tickets and votes that the issues present on this site have achieved, though I can understand why as it took me more than a few clicks to land here.
   That said, I hope Twitch is not looking solely at this site as the source for feedback on their ad system for I cannot imagine it is only a vocal minority (of which I am not usually a member of) who is displeased with ads on Twitch.

6. Subscribers should be able to change video quality of non-partnered streamer

   Subscribers of non-partnered-affiliate channel should have option to lower the video quality below source.
   Also this is in Twitch's benefit as a marketing option to sell subscriptions, And to use less bandwidth for subscribed lurkers.

   For example: If newer streamer has (at least) 1080p as source and I've subscribed to their channel then I might want the option to lurk at 480p or even 160p to show support & listen to audio, while downloading new game/updating windows/etc.

7. Reward people who subscribe to multiple streamers

   There's currently no incentive to actively subscribe to multiple streams.
   People who maintain active subscriptions to 10 or more streamers (excluding gifted subs) should we rewarded with something meaningful like not seeing ads across the platform.

9. Change the way the Founder's Badge works

   Changing the way the founder badge works would be nice. The current system allows 10 founder badges for Affiliates and the Partners, 25.

   My proposal is to allow people who sub in the first 24 to 72 hours of the streamer getting the sub badge to get a founder badge, if the streamer does not get up to at least 10 founders in that time frame, it will continue until the 10th founders badge is there. That way, for people with bigger communities, they people who sub day 1 still get rewarded, since they are still technically founders, just unlucky to be sub 26 by a few seconds.

   It's just annoying when a community of people all sub day one, and majority get cut out due to small limitations. Also, most founders in many channels are no longer there, so it makes it even more scarce after years of streaming.

   Even allowing the streaming an option/rules to the founders badge themselves as partners could be a good incentive.

    Please give the option to hide sub notification messages. A number of people find them annoying, and you can't even turn them off.

11. General Idea to re-haul current Subscription system

    Long Read, tried to format it in a way to make it easier to get through.

    The current Subscription system needs a re-haul. It works for content that is more centric on "On Demand" structure like Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc. But for content that is at the mercy of actual "live" broadcasts like Twitch, there is a better way to do this. I'm not a streamer, I don't have the knowledge to know how that side of things work firsthand (like the payout system from subs), so this is coming from a viewer (consumer) pov.

    General Idea:

    Change the way subscriptions are active. Instead of a subscription lasting for a total set amount of days, make it work by "hours streamed" by the content creator.

    Reason:

    Subs currently are at a length of 30 days. You can sub to a streamer, but there is no guarantee you will be able to take advantage of that subscription because that content creator could just decide to not stream for any amount of those 30 days your subsciption is active for. Let's be honest, that would end up being a total waste and there should be some kind of protection for cases like that.

    Switching to a "hours streamed" format guarantees a subcription will be used to the fullest. As a viewer, this makes subbing more enticing because you have the assurance the subscription will not to go waste. This format makes it so the sub is on the viewer to use and puts the control of their subscription directly in their hands. So if the viewer doesn't tune in to a streamer when they are live, the viewer can only blame themselves. "Hours streamed by content creator" does not equal "Hours watched by viewer". A subscription progress is based on the creator creator going live and streaming, they would be doing their part.

    So if a streamer goes on a hiatus for a few months, then a subscriber won't miss out on their benefits for the time the streamer is taking a break. Not naming anyone directly, but yes a certain situation did come to mind (your first guess is probably correct) and did spark this idea for a re-haul of the subscription system.

    How it could work:

    Based on a regular work week of 4-5 Days for 8 hours a day. That's about 128-160 hours a month. A number between that range would be perfect for a Subscription length.

    Most Partnered Streamers consider streaming their jobs and have considered it their full time career choice. Reaching a goal of around 128-160 hours in a month should not be that difficult to achieve for them. If they are worried about what "content" to do for a stream, there are enough games out there its impossible to complete or play them all in a lifetime.

    If 128-160 hours seems like a huge number, lets take this in consideration. A 30 Day month is 720 hours, so converting a 30 day subsciption to hours straight-up is not viable (for this proposed re-haul idea). Thats why we use a typical standard work week to base the hours on, hence 128-160 hours. Thats less than 25% of a 30 day month to stream to fulfill a subscription in this new proposed format. There are streamers that already stream hours close to this number and sometimes more, so they can actually benefit more by having subscriptions completing earlier than the current 30 days. Their viewers would be able to re-sub quicker.

    For Affilates, that number can be and should be lower for them. I'm assuming full time streaming is still in a stage of consideration and they might have other sources for main income as they work towards making Partner. So streaming is likely the secondary source for income to them and they may not have the time to focus on it in comparison to Twitch Partners.

    Other observations:

    While this new format would essentially make some streamers put in more effort into streaming, it can be highly rewarding for those who do. Take Subathons for example. There is an instance where a Subathon would actually finish a subscription cycle in 7 days. A streamer could turn a single sub into 4 if they are doing a 30 day 24/7 Subathon for that month.

    There have been an influx of alt channels and channels that run VODs and reruns 24/7 popping up on Twitch. I don't think these type of channels should be eligable for subs under this new proposed system. Instead, guess which system would actually be perfect for these types of channels, the current 30 Day subscription system. These channels are more like the Netflix and Hulu streaming services where the current system makes much more sense. This prevents loopholes/exploiting of the new "streamed hours" format. But this wouldn't be the case for 24/7 channels that actually provide real broadcasts of "live content" and not just run VODs. An example of this would be Alveus, which is another channel that would benefit much more under this new proposed system.

    Like I said, I have no knowledge of things from a Streamer POV like payouts specifically other than the revenue splits between Partner and Affiliates. I would like to hear from people who do and can add to the discussion to come up with an idea of payment system that might work well with this idea.

    I think there should be an option to prioritize respected members of the community like VIPS and moderators when it comes to gifting subs. This could be an option for the streamer or the gifter.

13. Providing viewers further options on the length/tier of their subscription.

    For the longest time I can remember, viewers have had the option of subscribing to a channel with renewal at one month, three months and six months at their preferred tier. Recently, we have seen the platform allow users to spend monumental amounts of funds, for example: either on large amounts of Bits (highest purchase 25K Bits at $527.35AUD) or the relatively new "1000 gift sub" option ($7,990AUD). But has lacked in accessibility to customise their subscription in tier and duration.

    Suggested features:

    • Allow users to have additional options such as a nine month or annual subscription renewal (e.g. new sub options – 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12) with ascending discount entitlements the longer the opted subscription;

    • Allow users to select a one-off/reoccurring amount of specific months subscription, the value picked from a drop-down box (e.g. anything between 1 – 11 months, 12 obviously be the annual subscription); and

    • Allow users to upgrade their current subscription at a discounted rate whether bought/gifted from a lower tier to a higher tier. Some streamers offer benefits or special features (intros/emotes) in their stream or in a community aspect external yet related to twitch, like discord providing access to permissible channels.

    These suggested features will not only provide reassurance to the streamer, particularly knowing a viewer/member of their community is committed to supporting the channel for longer periods at a time, but also give the streamer confidence, knowing what content they’re producing delivers an immediate first-hand organic reaction from the viewers, a live static, streamers can see in their chat during their stream without looking at the analytics.

    The Duration feature would provide benefit to viewers having to manage their funds or set the reoccurring subscription on a more appropriate time of the year.

    A upgradable Sub Tier feature would allow the viewers to set themselves to a preferred viewer experience.

    turbo refund if you forgot to cancel if its within 24 hrs. they will just send you constant rejection emails with the same exact macro if u attemt to refund. there was a button that said "request a refund" on the option on the day that i clicked. why is that button even there if its non refundable...

16. Create a sub/follow notification on mobile

    Hello, i would like to ask if it's possible in the future to add a new feature on the mobile app where you are notified when someone follows and subscribe to you.
    You see, not all people do livestreams from pc, most of us prefer livestreaming from console. Because it's easier and less complicated, not to mention that is much cheaper than owning a whole pc equipment. And to be honest, as a console streamer I feel very abandoned because i don't get to have basic notifications on app such as people that follow and subscribe to you. It's very annoying that you don't get to see from the app and miss important information during the livestream. And no, sometimes it's not immediate to see in the livestream chat when someone subscribe to you. You feel like you are flabbergasted. I think the twitch app should have those features! Would be really useful and helpful!

17. Allow a single, one time refund for Twitch Turbo subscriptions in the event someone forgets they signed up . Respect your users.

    You failed to do the right thing and give me a refund despite not notifying me that the subscription was about to renew, which is legally required in the US. You could do the right thing, like many banks and credit card companies would do, and offer a one time refund as a courtesy. This would eliminate any friction between you and your users by giving them a small bit of leeway in the event they sign up for a trial and forget about it.

    At the very least, implement a warning about upcoming renewals, as you are supposed to do under US rules.

    You failed to do the right thing and give me a refund despite not notifying me that the subscription was about to renew, which is legally required in the US. You could do the right thing, like many banks and credit card companies would do, and offer a one time refund as a courtesy. This would eliminate any friction between you and your users by giving them a small bit of leeway in the event they sign up for a trial and forget about it.

18. Subscription reminders LATE and PREDATORY

    I’ve been dealing with about 6 months of reminder emails coming in AFTER the payment has been taken.

    Turbo and subscriptions included. The most recent reminder email came in FIVE(5) HOURS after the payment was processed, leaving me no option but to subscribe for another month before cancelling.

    Reached out to twitch support and all I’m getting is auto responses on “how to cancel a subscription” and “no refunds”

    While still sending emails LATE! My community has had the same concern, this is going to put some people into overdraft because they didn’t have enough notice to cancel or make sure they have money in their accounts.

    But at least we can now gift 1000 subs

20. Send reminders a couple days before renewal

    Send reminders a couple days before renewal, NOT just after you get invoiced for the previous time period. This makes no sense as it’s not really a reminder since you’ve just been charged? The invoice is already reminder… Please send actual reminders.
