1. Stop with the Ads, Bring back Prime users being Ad free!!!

   Since this change I've been driven further and further away from Twitch.tv as a platform. I find it ridiculous that the only way to not have to see this annoying Ad spam is by using my ONE prime sub or just not watching content on Twitch.tv. There is a major problem with that approach, and until something changes (and I'm certain thousands of others would agree here), I will no longer be using this platform for my viewing pleasure.I hope you guys get this figured out and find a better solution soon, like putting the Ads responsibility back on individual streamers, since that empowers THEM to generate revenue for themselves, as opposed to the obviously fake cop-out of "this ad supports -insert random streamer here- " since that just seems so disingenuous.

2. Don't show an ad when a channel begins to host

   Overall, ads on Twitch are reasonable and not too intrusive, but this one quirk makes it more difficult for small streamers to support each other.

   If someone ends their stream by hosting mine, I would like to be able to thank them and welcome them and any viewers who came along with them. But at the moment that I receive the host notification, I have to assume that none of them can see me because an ad just started playing for them. And if I host another streamer at the conclusion of my stream, my viewers and I don't get to see their reaction unless without pre-loading their stream, or watching the VOD later, or enabling an adblocker.

   Revenue from host-transition ads must be next to nothing, and this does not seem like something that is done to nudge people towards paying for Turbo because the hosted streamer obviously cannot assume that most of the viewers coming over to their channel have Turbo.

   Overall, ads on Twitch are reasonable and not too intrusive, but this one quirk makes it more difficult for small streamers to support each other.

3. Ads Overhaul

   Dear Twitch,

   I think I speak for most of the streaming community when I say we do NOT like your new mid-roll strategy. Ads are among the biggest annoyances on the site and the solution is not to give us more ads. Here are some ideas on making ads on Twitch better for both the creator and the viewer.

   1. Give the creators an actual cut of the ad revenue
      Right now, this is absolutely peanuts when you compare it to other video content sites, it’s actually insane. This would make running ads also a bit more attractive for creators and viewers will know that these ads would actually support their favourite creators a lot more than now.

   2. Make your ads shorter and skippable
      The ads that are currently running on Twitch are often way too long. Myself and other viewers have often skipped these ads by simply going to a different channel, that is not okay. That should not happen.

   3. Consider adding closable lower third ads
      When you first launch a stream you can have a lower third ad hovering over the videoplayer. Be sure to make it so that viewers can click these away.

   4. Let creators and viewers (individually) control mid-rolls
      I really like the fact that as a creator you can roll an ad, for instance, when you need to take a snack break or toilet break. What if we add a feature like that for every viewer. Let’s say you have a button somewhere next to the stream that viewers can opt for an ad to support their favourite creators, this way both the creator and the viewer has more control over when they want to see ads.

   5. Bits for ads
      Why is this not a thing worldwide? This is such a nice concept and should be implemented all over the world because it gives the chance for viewers that can’t afford a sub or bits to give bits anyway by just saving them up by watching ads here and there. This can go hand in hand with the ad button for viewers.

   6. A certain amount of paid subs (gift subs excluded) = Twitch Turbo
      Lastly, make it so that viewers that have a certain amount of paid subscriptions across multiple channels have Twitch Turbo perks. However, they could still opt to see ads to support a streamer with the button and still see mid-rolls from the streamer.

   In summary, I think there is a lot to learn from other platforms in regards to ads on Twitch. These are just some loose ideas, I’m sure there are plenty of people that have better ideas than me or that can make these ideas even better.    This discordance in user experience is confusing.

   IMPLEMENTATIONS

   Full Feature Parity with Subscriptions - Turbo renewal periods would be: month, 3-month, 6-month and offer the same 10% and 15% discounts

   Industry Parity - Monthly or Annual renewal, with a discount equivalent to 2 months on the annual plan ($5/month or $50/year)

   PROBLEM PART THREE
   Turbo has not provided users value for quite some time - and that is prior to the price increase. Many Turbo users do not benefit from VOD storage, since they do not stream. Additional global emotes are worthless. Name colours… yeah.

   The price increase will lead to Turbo cancellations - the very least Twitch could do is to enable multi-month purchasing to allow users to save some money.

   CLOSING COMMENTS
   Directly asking users to create a UserVoice Suggestion for this issue, or any specific issue, is nothing short of asinine.

   If Twitch is aware enough of a problem to voice it to the community - the community does not need to submit a UserVoice suggestion.

5. Allow Ad Blockers

   Please stop the fight against ad blockers. Not everybody is able to afford Twitch Turbo and those aren't people who you want to serve with ads, anyway, since they're low converters. Or do you want to sell ads to your worst viewers? The ones who don't spend money on your premium subscription are also unlikely going to purchase a product after seeing an ad and your advertisers will sooner or later figure that out when they see their low conversion rates...

   Users who use ad blockers are annoyed by ads and naturally indisposed against companies who try to force their way into their door as well, so they are selling a spammer image instead of gaining reputation.

   The only thing you do by pushing those ads is creating an artificial need on users who can afford to pay to remove them by making your platform substantially worse. Youtube has a massive back library and their subscription service is much cheaper than yours, they don't fight ad blockers and people are much more willing to subscribe to their premium service.

   Now, if you don't want poor people in your audience, maybe you should put the entire site behind a paywall instead and be done with it.

   Allow twitch turbo users who want to purchase bits for the new cheer system get a 5% discount in total price so that would be an extra benefit in being a turbo user on the site

8. idea for Better Turbo benefit for streamers

   I don't like ads and I don't really like serving ads to my viewers.
   But Twitch as a platform needs to make money and logically cannot exist without such a revenue stream.

   But what if I could pay to covers the cost, at least partially or up to a certain amount of viewers?
   I find that Twitch Turbo is rather well poised already for this, at least price wise, sitting at about the same price point of 4 separate tier 1 subscriptions.

   The idea is, that as a streamer, having Twitch Turbo would mean that the streams they do would be ad free until they have above 4 viewers.

   I think this is also a good idea, if Twitch intends to have more expensive tier's of Turbo, like with subs, because it could scale the ad free threshold based on tier pricing.

   Now I understand if this is not logistically variable for Twitch to do and also I understand if pricing would have to change to match this benefit.
   But, if this is possible, I believe it would be of an extreme good value for smaller streamers or new streamers looking to find an audience while not having to serve ads to anyone.

10. Turbo Regional Pricing

    Please Twitch, explain why Turbo will cost $11.99 in USD and £11.99 in GBP. I live in the UK and so, according to current market rates, that means I'll pay 23% more for Turbo than someone in the US. That can't be right. Did you math wrong or something?

    If I consider the old price of Turbo as well, then overall, this is a 64% price increase without any improvements being offered once the new rate takes effect. Could I perhaps get 100 days of VOD storage to go with that price hike, hmm?

11. Twitch on PlayStation & Xbox

    I am a regular Twitch consumer. I watch Twitch mostly on my PlayStation 5. The experience on the app is however, not as satisfying and flawless as in other devices, such as PC or mobile. There’s so many ads that play throughout streams, and there is zero way to subscribe to the channel you’re watching. It is not the most convenient thing to log into your PC or mobile just to subscribe.

    Overall, I think you should be able to access these things on the Twitch PlayStation app: Subscribe to a channel in all tiers, subscribe to Twitch Turbo, collect points and point bonuses, gift subscriptions, edit your chat identity (such as colors), be able to part take in predictions and polls, be able to see pinned messages, etc.

    These features would make watching Twitch on the PlayStation app a more pleasant experience! I hope my feedback can somehow help!

    Growth is hard, especially as a small streamer. Twitch Turbo is an existing feature that isn't well advertised but it could be used to an even greater benefit for both Streamers and Twitch. By giving streamers who are subscribed with Twitch Turbo who have less than a certain amount of typical concurrent viewers to provide their content to viewers without pre-rolls, it would enable both better growth for the streamer and more profit to Twitch to cover costs.

    30% of new viewers leave a stream before a preroll finishes playing, and a large number of viewers will leave a stream when an ad is played in the middle of it.

    As of 2020 streamers made aprox US 3.50 per 1000 individual full ad views, not taking into account length of the ad. Twitch Turbo is currently US 8.99, so a bit over 2.5x as much as 1000 ad views' generated revenue to the streamer. So let's say that Twitch Turbo in accordance with my idea should cover any streamer who gets less than 2500 views per month. 2500 views over an average of 30 days (although most small streamers aren't streaming every day) is 83 views per day, which is rather close to the CCV needed for Partner.

    Thus I suggest making this feature available to all Affiliate or under streamers, up to the CCV when they become eligible for Partner. If their views drop any given month, they can still retain the Power of Ad-Free Streaming with Turbo.

    Weigh your options against statistics Twitch! Odds are high you would make a lot more money having streamers buy Twitch Turbo subs than you get from the paltry amount of ads people are actually sticking around for.

13. I would rather close Twitch than watch a pre-roll

    I'm dodging pre-rolls like crazy. I'm not talking about muting the tab and doing something else while Twitch advertises to the void; I'm either closing Twitch and not engaging with the service or I'm going to keep refreshing, bouncing between streams until the system gives in and plays the stream without the ad—which, miraculously, works after roughly 15 seconds—a net gain given that most ads that play on Twitch much longer. And, keep in mind, the moment Twitch fixes that strange loophole, I'm going to revert back to closing Twitch and disengaging 99% of the time.

    That is to say that I'm not willing to, upon my first visit to any stream during a session, sit through an advertisement(s) that I can't skip when I'm not even sure that I want to watch that stream yet—no matter if it's a streamer that I've just discovered or one that I've watched for years: it makes no difference to me. I'm not invested in that stream yet and so why would I tolerate unskippable pre-roll ads?

    Pre-roll ads should have the option to be skipped or they should be removed. Simple as that.

    Let me be clear: I respect and understand that Twitch must advertise to make themselves and their partners money, and stress that I am perfectly accepting and receptive to a carefully-planned and well-developed advertising system, which I believe Twitch's current system to be neither.

    Twitch Turbo is not the solution where the advertising system exposed to free users is unfit for purpose. Why would I, as a level-headed, principled consumer who doesn't wish to simply buy a "free" pass, want to support a company that fails to develop a fair, working, thought-out system for its free users and partners? The only way I'm going to subscribe to a premium service is if I like what that company is doing for ALL of its users and believe in its mission.
    I won't go into detail, but your advertising system has directly impacted my decisions when choosing whether or not to renew my subscriptions to streamers and Prime.

    You don't need me to offer solutions past what I've already suggested here; there's others far more passionate, educated and experienced in what makes a good advertising system, and I know for a fact that some of Twitch's advisory council (namely CohhCarnage) have some excellent ideas to offer.

    I must add that I am very surprised by the small numbers of tickets and votes that the issues present on this site have achieved, though I can understand why as it took me more than a few clicks to land here.
    That said, I hope Twitch is not looking solely at this site as the source for feedback on their ad system for I cannot imagine it is only a vocal minority (of which I am not usually a member of) who is displeased with ads on Twitch.

14. Sub Tokens for Turbo users.

    We should get Sub Tokens for Turbo Users.

    Keep Turbo an Ad Free experience but give us a way to have Sub Tokens every month we renew Turbo, that way we can use our Sub Tokens like Prime to support streamers and we get the benefits of a sub in the streamer's chat (also make Tokens giftable, that way you incentivize the use of Turbo over Prime)

    We could even have Turbo Tiers that change the number of Tokens and benefits we receive.

15. Reduce Ads, or Skippable Ads?

    As we know, ads are common on any platform and I understand they're a primary source of income. Generated for both parties (twitch, and content creators) and is evenly split between both parties. However, sometimes these ads are intrusive and lead to a reduction in viewer retention.

    While the viewers suffer from advertisements but also streamers, streamers stream for 4 hours a day, sometimes every day, and some stream more. That's a part-time job, and some aren't gaining anything out of it. I, myself am a streamer and try to stream 5 days a week, but I find it very difficult since I'm forced to run 3 advertisements per hour to reduce the chance of newer viewers running into a preroll ad.

    Here are ways we can fix this:

    1. Add skippable ads,
    2. Add non-intrusive advertisements, and
    3. Add a subscription-based system, or reiterate on the twitch turbo subscription, raise the price to CAD$13.99 (10.99) that removes all advertisements while still allowing users to contribute to the streamer they're watching.

    These are some possible ways that you (twitch) can make the user experience better while making money, and helping content creators/streams make a living.

16. Bring back 2 weeks to make a highlight & default crop entirety of VOD

    I've lost enough footage (including world records) because of only having 2 weeks to make a highlight. Having only 1 week just because the stats say that most people don't watch VODs after a week, doesn't justify users requiring prioritizing hours of Twitch highlighting over other deadlines. If users are really only gonna be given a week with a paywall as the only other option, then atleast make the highlighting process faster. Highlighting 100+ streams a month takes many hours due to the default being that only the middle gets highlighted, so you have to manually drag it outward each time.

17. Pay for Music Licensing

    Music is universally loved by many. Its addition to a stream can set the tone for a community. Amazon/Twitch: please pay for licensing so streamers do not have to worry about DMCA strikes. Let people share and enjoy music!

    At the very least, include licensing for Amazon Prime members and/or Twitch Turbo users.

18. Twitch Turbo Lite for Ad Block only. $4.99 / mo maybe

    I've been interested in twitch turbo for some time now, but the only feature I want is the ad-free viewing. It would be neat to have a lite version at a cheaper price for ads only. $8.99 is quite steep if ad-free viewing is the only feature I use.

19. Twitch Turbo Automatic Opt-in to Rate Changes

    I loaded Twitch and got this notification to renew Turbo or it would automatically expire. What a pain in the butt to pull out a bank card or whatever that I already used with the current subscription and retype in the information. That's just really annoying. It's annoying enough to have a price hike, but to have to go through the process again is like being drag through the mud. I get it. Inflation happens. Just send us an eMail notification, give us a tick to check in our settings to auto renew with card current information, or give us a notice that allows us to use the current card when we join the site. I really don't want to have to retype in my card info unless the card expires or there's a problem. No other streaming services require this manual renew process because it's bad business. It puts a bad taste in the customer's mouth having to jump through another hoop during an already unpleasant rate increase. Just notify and allow opt-in for auto renewal like everyone else.

    An extra benefit to Turbo subscribers that are not only supporting a single stream but all streamers.
