1. Allow Streamers to use existing Sub Emotes as Follower Emotes w/o creating doubles

   Where I see Follower emotes working best is by giving your followers access to 5 of your existing sub emotes, and if they want the remainder, they would need to subscribe. It would allow them to get a taste of your library and still feel like a part of the community. However, the way it's set up now makes that complicated.

   THE ISSUE: If you decide to make some of your existing sub emotes available to followers with the current system, you have two options: either you have to make a second version of the same emotes, or you have to move 5 of your sub emotes to be only follower emotes. Both of these options have problems.

   Creating a second version would lead to, for example, a Love emote having to be Love2 emote or LoveF for followers. This leads to people who are both subs AND followers now having two versions of the same emotes.

   Making the follower emotes separate from your sub emotes also has problems, as it makes those follower emotes ONLY useable on your channel and nowhere else, even if they are subscribed to you. This is incredibly limiting.

   I've seen people say to just make the follower emotes useable everywhere, but this also has some issues. It basically forces subscribers to follow you if they want the remainder of your emotes. While it may seem like being a subscriber and being a follower should go hand-in-hand, the harsh truth is that some users may simply want to subscribe to a streamer for their emotes and do not care to watch them. By forcing them to be a follower to get the remaining emotes, they now have a channel on their followed bar that they don't care to watch.

   THE SOLUTION: Simply make the follower emotes like a lesser sub. They are not new emotes, they just use five of your existing emotes, but they can ONLY be used on your channel. A subscription, on the other hand, allows them to use all of your emotes, including the follower ones, everywhere. Simple as that. Followers will now only follow because they care about your content and want to use some of your emotes during your streams. Subscribers don't have to follow if they don't want to as they already have all of your emotes and they can use them anywhere. There are no second versions of the same emotes.

   The only potential downside to this is that you won't be able to make new emotes for followers, but in my opinion, it doesn't make sense to make follower emotes different from sub emotes. Most people will make their first five subscriber emotes the most representative of their community and the most used ones. Those should be the ones followers get access to, not some random off-kilter emotes that they'll barely ever use.

3. Add exception to Nudity rule for animals

   From Twitch Emote Guidelines:

   Prohibited: "Nudity, such as depictions and imitations of nude torsos, buttocks, genitals, and anuses."

   This prohibition on emotes has been applied to emotes which are technically unclothed, but feature animals, which are not generally considered nude when unclothed.

   In short, please unban cat butt. There is no reason to ban cat butt emotes.

4. Restrict the use of chat modes to prevent abuse

   Describe more clearly that for example the Emote Chat and other modes are timely restricted functions for moderation and nobody should use it to abuse its viewers. It's not helpful for anyone to use a follower-only chat to grow a channel or use emote-only chat to be a lazy mod, channel owner, or have no mod in the chat at all.
   The best way would be to communicate more clearly what the functionality of those modes is for OR restrict the general use to 600 seconds.

5. API for renaming an emote (not emote prefix)

   Would like to be able to send an (authorized) API request to rename one emote to another, for example swapping an "angel/halo" emote with a "devil/horns" emote, or mixing up (or unmixing) all emotes for a redemption so that anyone typing an emote gets something random. Would be a fun way to interact with chat but there is no way to do it without manually deleting/reuploading the emotes in question, or renaming them to temporary names, swapping, etc... all by hand. Not very spontaneous/fun/interactive.

6. Allow Emotes For All Streamers & A Free Option

   I know this might be a bit farfetched, but in my short time on Twitch I've noticed that emotes can become a HUGE part of a channel's branding.

   If someone is just starting out but really serious about creating a solid brand, they should at least be allowed 2-3 emotes without having to reach affiliate or partner first.

   Every streamer has to invest time or money into their own emotes anyway (cause Twitch staff sure ain't paying for our emotes to be designed) so why not?

   Figure out a way to streamline the approval process and there you go.

   Something else I would love to have as an option is to offer emotes for followers and none followers.

   If they become a follower, it would give them the emotes for use like it already works.

   If they don't, they could at least use the channel emotes in that specific channel's chat ONLY.

7. Create an option to take away Tier 2 and 3 subs to add two more emotes to Tier 1 subs

   Just as it says in the title, I think creators would love to have the option to take away Tier 2 and 3 subs to add two more emotes to Tier 1 subs. In my case, I’ve maybe had someone tier 2/3 to me 2-3 times each over the course of my 3 years of being an Affiliate. It’s only usually just once out of the blue, never continuous.

   For my stream, I would rather add two more emotes to my first tier, totaling it to a maximum of 7 instead of 5 (for Affiliates) than have a tier 2 and tier 3 subscription option that no one is going to pay for. I want to incorporate my emotes into my community as much as I can, and with collapsing tier 2 and 3 to get two more emotes for tier 1, it would really help.

   I think this would be easy to incorporate; it would just be within your emote options, a switch you can click that disables tier 2 and tier 3 subs and adds two more slots to tier 1. For those people who are subbed to a streamer at tier 2 or tier 3, they would automatically roll over to tier 1 the next month, keeping all of their emotes, just paying the tier 1 price.

9. Removing Emotes From Autocomplete

   I see someone has touched on this already, however, I feel it worth reiterating that it would be beneficial to delete emotes or blacklist them from appearing on autocomplete when users type : (colon) to start typing for their emotes.

   Deleting emotes: it would be nice to be able to go through individual emotes and delete them on a case by case basis. For example, particular Hyperscape or Hype train emotes that just aren't appealing to a particular user.

   Blacklisting emotes on autocomplete: a suitable solution for many people would be to simply make it so that certain emotes don't appear when trying to type out a word. For example, many streamers upload "hype" emotes to let viewers show excitement for something that is going on. I've seen many people complain that hype train emotes and hyperscape emotes completely bury other streamers hype emotes when trying to type out ":hype" to see the list of emotes that have that in the word. Blacklisting would be a good solution to both solve that issue, and keep emotes in their lists for the few situations they would be used.

10. Can we have a larger number of frequently used emotes?

    I and many others use a large number of emotes to hype streams. I am subbed to a lot of streams and it makes it tedious to scroll between subscribers to create an artistic message.

11. Instant Upload and Request Approval Option for Emotes

    Instant upload for emotes is a fantastic thing, but what if those creators who have the ability are also given the option to request approval on a specific emote. When uploading the emote, there can be a dropdown that gives two options - Instant Upload or Request Approval. This would require that their emote is approved by Twitch before it is uploaded, just like normal.

    I think this can eliminate any issues that some creators might have with their emotes. If a creator believes that their emote abides by all guidelines but want to make sure, they can request approval rather than having it instantly uploaded. This can ultimately save their "good standing" on Twitch and not have the instant upload ability removed from their account entirely.

    If the creator chooses to upload an emote that violates the guidelines, Twitch can handle it as normal - removing their instant upload ability. Whereas if the creator chooses to have it reviewed by Twitch, they will not be punished for a rejection.

12. Remove the BLM emote and replace it with Every Life Matters

    Hey twitch why are you adding this to a streaming website this has no purpose being here. No one here wants to load up twitch and want to spam that emote in a chat, people use twitch to watch streamers. I'm Hispanic and to see only BLM on there and not any other race on there ****** me off. You can't just cherry pick the race that matters when everyone is equal. Remove this emote from twitch or add one for every race. This is completely uncalled for and just tarnishes your name for bowing down to this. Once more remove BLM emote and replace it with ELM(Every Life Matters), or add one for each race. Up to you but this is completely uncalled for adding politics to a twitch globe emote. Especially when it's unfair for others that aren't black so who's lives apparently don't matter. Show some equality here that's all I ask.

    Maybe have different types of designs for VIP badges for viewers and friends because I personally like to VIP my friends but at the same time I would like some viewers to be VIP alternatively add in a friend badge maybe and keep VIP's for viewers

15. "Get Emote Sets" enhancements

    It would be useful if the following values could be added to each emote:

    • Channel Name (e.g. "owner name") - Obviously the name can be retrieved from the "owner id" by doing another API request, but it would be nicer to require fewer API requests
    • Tier - The "Get Channel Emotes" endpoint already contains a "tier" value, it would be nice if this one would also have it

    Additionally, not all emote sets appear to be supported by the endpoint. For example the following emote sets (from the "emote-sets" tag and also valid emote sets in the v5 "Get User Emotes" endpoint response) only return an empty result:

16. Larger emote display size when only emotes are used in a chat message (like Discord)

    Emotes are a key part of twitch, to the point that you can often convey more with just a certain emote than with a message.

    Many people would love to see emotes displayed in the maximum size in chat.
    I'm guessing there are probably some limitations in in-line emote display tied to text pixels or something (either for practical reasons or esthetic reasons)...
    ...but some platforms have a solution for this, and I'm hoping it can be implemented on twitch.

    In Discord, in-line emotes are displayed small, similar to Twitch, however, when ONLY emotes are used, they are displayed at full size.
    People constantly use emotes as separate messages to follow up their text to get emotes to show up nicely,but more often than not just the emotes are used to communicate.
    The better emotes show up, the easier it is to use them, and it really can set the tone for a community.

    I hope that a proper emote size display is doable to program as long as there is no other message text.

17. Creator new feature rollout status

    It would be nice to know approximately how long we will have to wait for some of these new features to rollout for affiliates. With the follower emotes I waited months (checking my emotes section daily) to see when they would unlock as I already had emotes waiting. Now I find the same thing happening for animated emotes. I rushed some animated emotes hoping I would have them immediately and I am now in the same cycle checking daily as I have no way of knowing when my channel will actually get the slots.

18. Remove the 28x28 size emote

    Many artists work hard on emotes for themselves or other streamers and so much detail is lost when sizing down to 28x28. It's incredibly disheartening. Please make 56x56 the minimum size and abolish 28x28 entirely.

19. Allow Marijuana icons for Emotes in legal states?

    Living in a legal state for marijuana, you should be allowed to have banners, emotes, etc with marijuana related themes. It's a fun way to connect with your chat, whom will enjoy the art and emotes. It harms nobody. You guys allow people to do drinking/drunk streams which is much worse than smoking by far, and we all know that. ~ On that note. We should allow emotes and things like that to have a marijuana related theme.

    Because follower emotes can only be used in the channel which they are unlocked, it would make sense to let follower emotes be shaped like individual letters, since those emotes aren't able to be used elsewhere to circumvent chat rules.

    Personally, I have wanted to have Tetris-related emotes for some time, but because the pieces are letter-shaped (LJSZTOI), I cannot reflect this significant part of my channel. I understand why these emotes can be harmful on other channels, but when they are restricted to just my own, I should be allowed to take the risk that people will be less-than-wholesome with them.
