1. Disable "save streak" notification for users that you have blocked

   when blocking a user you have previously watched before blocking, you still receive a prompt to "save your streak" on the For You tab. I think it is safe to assume that when a user blocks someone they do not wish to view their content either.

   Some users might be tempted to not use twitch desktop at all until the 24 hour period is over just to not see the profile picture of the blocked user.

2. Hydration and food

   Eating and drinking are important, especially for viewers of live streams, since they can easily get distracted by the exciting content. I’m aware that it’s possible to use bots in the chat to remind people that it’s time to eat or drink. However, some chat participants are known for often neglecting their physical needs, and there are various people in the chat who point this out to them separately. It’s not always mods who take on this task. I think it would be great if streamers could award these people a special badge: on the one hand, as a kind of reward for taking care of others, and on the other hand, as a way to let other people in the chat know that there are certain individuals in the chat who fulfill this role. I can envision this as both a badge and a role (similar to VIP/Mod), and I suggest a wooden spoon as the icon.

3. Stop Websites From Saving Our Chats

   Twitch needs to change its chat system so third-party websites can't pull up our personal chat history. Right now, anyone can search your username on random tracking sites and see everything you've ever typed, which completely ruins our privacy. Locking our chats to our official accounts and blocking outside sites from grabbing the data will fix this issue. Please upvote this to help us get our privacy back and protect our accounts!

5. Limited & Rotating Chat Access for Non-Subscribers

   I’d like to suggest a new chat feature for livestreams that could potentially increase both viewer retention and engagement.

   The idea would be to expand the current subscriber-only chat system by allowing streamers to grant chat access to two additional groups:

   • Selected users: The streamer could manually choose certain accounts that are always allowed to participate in chat without needing a paid subscription. These could be friends, family members, collaborators, regular viewers, etc.

   -A limited percentage of regular viewers: The streamer could choose to allow a small percentage of the current audience to participate in chat, even if they are not subscribers.

   For example:

   A streamer has 10,000 followers, with 100 paid subscribers. All subscribers would retain access to chat as usual.

   The streamer could additionally give permanent chat access to 5 manually selected users.

   Then, if the livestream currently has 1,000 viewers, the streamer could set 1% of the audience as eligible to chat. This would give 10 additional regular viewers temporary access to the chat.

   These slots could work dynamically: if one of those 10 viewers leaves the livestream, their chat slot becomes available to another viewer who is currently watching and waiting for access.

   This creates a kind of rotating chat access system.

   I believe this could provide viewers with an additional incentive to stay in a livestream, since continuing to watch gives them the possibility of gaining access to the chat. At the same time, it allows creators to maintain a more controlled and manageable chat environment.

   The percentage or number of available slots could be configurable by the streamer.

   Overall, I think this feature could help improve viewer retention, engagement, and interaction, while giving creators more flexibility over who can participate in their communities.

6. Feedback on Follower Information in Chat

   I recently noticed that the date when viewers in the chat community started following the streamer is no longer being displayed.

   This information was actually quite helpful for identifying unusual or potentially suspicious accounts. For example, when several accounts that don’t follow the streamer repeatedly appear in streams and stay until the very end, having this information available can be useful when trying to understand whether those accounts are genuine viewers.

   I’m sure there was a reason for removing this information, and I completely understand that there may have been considerations behind the change. However, I do feel that this feature was quite valuable for streamers who want to keep their communities genuine and healthy.

   Another issue I’ve personally found frustrating is receiving raids from streamers who appear to be using view bots. When this happens, it can bring a large number of suspicious accounts into the community, which makes it difficult and stressful to manage the chat.

   I was wondering if you could share the reason behind this change, and whether there might be any possibility of bringing this information back in the future. I believe having access to this information would be very helpful for streamers who are trying to maintain a genuine and healthy community.

7. Cannot send the same message twice within 30 seconds even though first message wasn't sent.

   Description: When a message fails to send and the user is notified of the failure, the user is unable to resend the exact same message within 30 seconds of the failed message. When a message fails to be sent, the user should not be blocked from sending the same message within 30 seconds.

   Reproduction steps:
   1. Log into twitch.
   2. Go into a stream where the user can chat.
   3. Type in something in the chat and cause a failure of the message to be sent
   4. Within 30 seconds of the message not being sent, try and send the exact same message.
   5. Observe the chat and check that the user gets a warning that says that the same message cannot be sent within 30 seconds of each other.

   Expected results: When a chat message fails to be sent, users should be able to send the same message within the 30 seconds window. Only when the message has been successfully sent and the other users can see it should the restriction of not being able to send the same message within 30 seconds go into effect.

   Actual results: When a user sends a message, and the message fails to send, the user is still restricted from sending the same message within 30 seconds of each other.

   I sadly do not have any screen recording of this issue.

8. /emojionly @username Command – An Interactive "Timeout Corner" for Moderation

   I propose an intermediate moderation tool between a total text mute (/timeout) and a ban: restricting a problematic user to posting ONLY emojis and emotes for a specified duration.

   Why it benefits Twitch and Creators (Key Benefits):

   ~ Higher Viewer Retention: Instead of forcing a user to log out because they can't chat, they remain active on the platform. The streamer retains the viewer count.

   ~ Toxicity Neutralization: Removing text entry strips the user of their ability to structure insults, malicious links, text spam, or complex hate speech. Emotes and emojis alone cannot articulate detailed verbal harassment.

   ~ Zero-Friction Workflow and Instant Adoption: It does not add complexity for moderators; instead, it simplifies their workflow. A quick, one-second command replaces the need to monitor a traditional ban, debate in whispers whether the user learned their lesson, or process lengthy unban appeals.

   ~ Universal Appeal and Chat Culture: This tool does not feel like a bureaucratic punishment. It fits Twitch's fast-paced, playful culture. The restricted user isn't pushed away; instead, they temporarily become part of the content by having to communicate solely through emojis, keeping the chat dynamic and engaging.

   ~Reduced Support Tickets: An intermediate tool prevents impulsive permanent bans, reducing the number of unban appeals that Twitch staff or mods have to manually review.

   How it works:

   ~ By typing /emojionly @username [seconds], the system blocks any text messages from that user. Their messages will only be posted if 100% of the characters are converted into system emojis or official Twitch emotes.

   How does it interact with third-party extensions (7TV, BTTV, FFZ)?

   ~ Absolute restriction of third-party emotes: To prevent any moderation loopholes, text-based codes from third-party extensions (such as KEKW or custom unverified channel emotes) will be completely blocked.

   ~ The reason: Third-party emotes do not go through Twitch’s strict safety checks. Allowing them could let users bypass the restriction using toxic custom images to continue harassment. The command will exclusively accept global Unicode emojis and native Twitch-approved emotes.

   Solutions to potential setbacks (Fail-safe mechanisms):

   ~ Mass emoji spam? Current bots and AutoMod already limit the maximum number of emojis allowed per message. Additionally, Twitch could automatically trigger a localized "Slow Mode" that applies only to users under this restriction.

   ~ ASCII text bypasses (like ¯(ツ)/¯)? Completely restricted. The system will exclusively accept Unicode emoji characters and pre-loaded official images.

   ~ Instant Mod Interface: Upon applying the command, the user's text box will turn gray and display the placeholder text "Emojis Only (00:30)". Additionally, a small stylized emote icon (🙂) will appear next to their name in the chat feed; hovering over it shows a floating countdown timer, and a single click on this icon removes the restriction instantly.

9. Show the whole Chat history

   As of right now, you can't see a user's full chat history. Assume someone sent a message back in 2018; you can't find it anymore. Making the whole history accessible also helps people sending an unban request years after getting banned. Now you sometimes don't know why they were banned. Showing the whole history would easily solve this issue and not have any side effects.

10. Bring back follow date info on other users

    For as long as I can remember, Twitch had a way to click on a user in a chat you don't moderate for to see their follow date on the channel you're watching.
    This got removed less than a week ago with many others reporting its disappearance on reddit, and I feel this was an important feature to bring back.
    It currently only exists if you're a moderator of that channel.

    As one comment states perfectly:
    "If someone starts acting strangely, checking their follow age used to let you instantly know if they were a long time regular joking around or a troll who just barged in. Knowing this helped you decide whether to play along with the joke, ignore them, or even report them."
    Especially for using this information in order to moderate another/your own channel, this was easily the most helpful deciding factor for taking preventative measures and issuing out preemptive bans.

13. Add Off-Screen Chat – messages show in chat but not on stream overlay

    Please add a simple way for viewers to send messages that appear normally in Twitch chat (for everyone) but do not show up on the streamer’s on-screen chat overlay. A small toggle or button next to the chat box labeled “Off-Screen” would work well. When turned on, messages stay fully visible to other viewers and mods in the regular chat, but overlays (StreamElements, Streamlabs, OBS chat sources, etc.) simply ignore them.

14. New Chatter Info Card

    New card is infinitely worse. Follow age and information about that chatter, like their about, recent streams, etc, are most useful. What badges they can use is neither interesting nor useful to anyone. Please remove change.

17. GIF chat improvements

    The GIFs in chat are an okay idea but as the feature stands, there is a lot of room for improvement. I feel the following could help a lot with the chat experience when using GIFs:

    • At this time, streamers can only enable or disable the feature.

    • Allow the Streamer to change the setting of the cooldown. As of right now the default (and only available) cooldown is 30 seconds, which doesn't help at all with spam prevention.

    • Allow the Streamer to change the size of the GIFs by a certain amount of %. Right now their size is simply too large and it creates a jarring chat experience.

    • Allow the streamer to choose which categories of GIFs are allowed in their chat. Ex. the Streamer could choose to enable GIFs in the "Animals" category and/or disable GIFs in the "Politics" category.

18. Gif Keyboard include Gipyh Creator Account in Search

    Gif Keyboard search currently only shows Gifs uploaded by brand accounts.
    I would love my community to be able to use my gifs that are available on e.g. discord/whatsapp/slack already. These were uploaded with a giphy creator account and currently Twitch Search only returns Gifs uploaded by brand accounts.
    So my suggestion would be to extend the search to also include giphy creator account gifs.
    I chatted with the Giphy support for a bit and they told me a Twitch Streamer in itself is not eligble to be certified as a brand account as this is reserved for companies.
    So my only hope is Twitch extending the search or else the gif keyboard is sadly missing an essential part of the fun.

20. Please decouple GIF-message animation from animated emotes.

    The current Chat Appearance setting ties two fundamentally different features together: animated Twitch emotes and full animated GIF messages.

    I want animated emotes. I do not want animated GIF messages continuously playing in chat. GIFs are substantially heavier and more visually intrusive, and disabling their animation currently also disables the animated emotes I deliberately want to see.

    This has had the opposite effect from what I assume the GIF feature was intended to achieve: I have stopped using Twitch’s native chat entirely and now use Chatterino, because it lets me retain animated emotes without the performance/visual burden introduced by animated GIFs.

    Please provide separate controls:

    Animate emotes
    Animate GIF messages

    Ideally GIF messages should also have a static-preview / click-to-play option.

    This is not a request to remove GIFs. It is a request not to hard-couple an established emote preference to a newly introduced, materially heavier content type.
