  1. One of my Twitch friends inadvertently blocked me. He would send me whispers, but I couldn't reply. Every time I attempted to reply, I would see the message "That user's settings prevent them from receiving this whisper." It would be helpful if a similar message was displayed for a Twitch user whispering someone he or she has blocked - "You're whispering someone whom you've blocked. That person is unable to whisper back to you."

Also, it seems as though blocking someone from whispering automatically blocks receiving a DM from them. In situations where someone was blocked inadvertently, it would be…

  2. It would be very helpful to have the current hidden character limit shown just like on twitter or similar websites, and not be able to send the messages when they are too long, instead of giving us the illusion to have sent them successfully when it is not actually the case. Both in chat and whispers.

  3. Sometimes you need to post information to your channel that is best viewed when its multiline, like a table with header and rows, list of items or some mini-report from the channel bot.

Since IRC can't use CRLF in messages, I suggest adding a way for channel mods (avoids abuse) to use a special symbol (or double-space as in markdown) that would visually act as a line break.

That way it would be possible for mods (users and bots) to post quick summaries to the channel that are easy to read and do not require several posts to make it…

  4. Add intelligence to detect and split Spam messages and real messages into two boxes for high velocity chat streams. Problem: When people have something valuable and meaningful to say, their message flies off the screen and into the void.

  5. Twitch has imposed a 4,000 character limit for DMs. It would be extremely helpful if there was a counter with the composition window that showed a user how many remaining characters may be typed in a message before that limit is reached.

I learned of this limit the hard way; one time I clicked 'Send' on a message, only to get a screen with a red box across the top of it informing me my message had exceeded the character limit and my message hadn't been sent. Unfortunately, the text of that message was lost too.

  6. Possibility to send a request to friends or other streamers which are streaming together to merge their chat together while they are streaming together so viewers can chat to both streamers without having to have multiple chats/streams open.

  8. It's too easy to create an account so once a user reports a bot account the staff bans them, they get a new IP and are ready to go again.

If you implement a shadowbanning system where their messages appear in chat but not to other users then that means that staff only have to ban the user once as they will not make a new account. It would be like a global ignore feature except the person being banned will not know that they have been ignored by every user. This would make the staffs job so much easier…

  9. Add ability to turn on a notification sound for new messages in channels you are in, but you are tabbed out. It could be set to: notify about every message, notify about friend message, do not notify about new messages. The sound could be a simple BLIP sound.

  10. Make chat customizable so streamers can turn on/off different stuff and combine them like badges/colors etc and make each chat unique.
In my case I'd like to turn off nickname color, combine all badges into one (i.e. if viewer is a sub and prime one then he will have badge with crown, if he is sub and moderator then he will have badge with green border), in case of regular viewer (just follower but always watches the stream) then he will have his nickname color

  11. If enabled, this command would prohibit the use of any emote within a stream's chat.

A need for such a command becomes apparent in large streams such as this year's SGDQ, but can also be extremely useful site-wide, for any stream that might want to enable such an option. Using such a command in combination with the "R9KBeta" command, especially in larger stream chats, could help create a much more substantial and positive chat experience for all users involved.

An example syntax for this command could be as simple as:
    /textonly
    /textonlyoff

This would be beneficial not only for large…

  12. Being able to increase the max scroll back value beyond the 150 limit would help a lot with chat moderating, and help with chat interaction from the broadcaster. This feature would disabled by default in settings but once enabled the user will be able to set the value to his/her liking. Having a maximum limit to start with ex. 10K would be a great start, with the set maximum value becoming bigger over time.

  13. You can like\dislike comments in live twitch chat and place most popular\unpopular comments at the top\btm.

    Make it interactive.

It would help broadcaster\users to read most interesting comments.

  15. Allow people to see their own chat history.

Wether it is someone who owns a channel, is a mod on a channel, or just a subscriber, it would be nice to come back to a channel a day or later and see what was said.

  16. Allow the option to have chat on the left side of the window and the other options like the search bar and the friends list on the right side. Reason being that with dual monitor setups, if I'm playing a game on my left monitor, the chat is much farther away from my line of vision, reducing the ability to mod effectively

  17. if you are in chat, and you want to contact a mod regarding certain question/need help regaarding something, then by using @mods will message all the present mods the same way as you message them personally by their twitch names. This will ensure easier way for mods to notice if chat require their assistance, or for a viewer to reach a mod.

  18. Recently I had an experience with something that i have seen plenty of people complaining about. Just like the option that disallows chat for those who havent followed for a certain amount of time, there should be an option that disallows people who have made their account for a certain amount of time. This is mostly because people who specifically come to your channel to harass always have a backup plan for being banned. People can simply be banned, make or go to an alternate account, verify a 5 second-made email (if necessary by the streamer) and then go right…

  19. Good afternoon everyone!

I think it would be a neat feature for users to earn a chat badge for a specific amount of the time that they have been on Twitch.

In my opinion, a 5 year badge would be appropriate for this feature (i.e. If I created my account in 2011, I would earn a badge in 2016).

This would also be a great way of saying thank you to those who have been using the website for a while and motivate those to remain on Twitch.

Users should also be able to enable/disable the badge in their settings…
