1. Provide transparent and clear communication about changes to function and features of Twitch.

   Twitch has asked us to hold them accountable and we have been met with a wall of silence accompanied by shadow changes like the ones made to auto-hosts.

   Twitch must communicate to creators with transparency about the plans and the data that leads to them. Without streamers there is no Twitch. We deserve to be able to ask questions and voice concerns about potential changes to the platform that we make possible.

   These are the changes we would like to see:

   1. Allow for comment periods in advance of finalizing rollouts of changes to existing features.

   2. Provide open access to data from studies that lead to changes to the function and features of Twitch.

   3. Communicate clear timelines for rollouts of new features and changes to existing features to allow streamers adequate time to prepare.

   4. Provide a roadmap of expected changes to Twitch so that creators can understand the trajectory of the platform that many of us at least in part make a living on.

2. New viewer count algorithms are questionable and only allow two simultaneous streams

   I have recently tested your new viewer count algorithms and have found results that point to two simultaneous streams are allowed only... not a 'handful'(?) as you stated on twitter?
   I believe this will make things impossible for the smaller streamers and hurt Twitch a little bit too in the long run.

   The smaller streamers are basically the collateral damage in this as most streamers on twitch have a slow moving all important chat until they get into the 100s of viewers. Most of the viewers that do stay behind will usually have multiple streams open as their main, whilst they come by to say hi and see what's up every now and then. These are usually the early base of viewers that increase their viewer count to somewhat respectable for them to be noticed by more and more people and THAT is when their personality and charisma can come into play to get the snowball of rolling. By limiting these streamers to the 'two streams on max or their views won't count' law, the little guys basically have this taken away and it leaves practically only one option for them to realize their dreams: a once in a lifetime occurence causing them to go viral and blow up. A hard task has only become harder.

   These new algorithms also don't take into account the fact that these days alot of people simply do not have a high attention span and seeing as the nature of streaming is more comparable to a 5 course dinner instead of quick fast food (Youtube), viewers are bound to be inclined to have multiple streams open simultaneously, and usually more than the two that are allowed nowadays.

   In the long run I feel Twitch could discourage a large amount of streamers with this viewer count system and could lose promising streamers who will never realize their potential and who will never be discovered because of the new viewer count algorithms? If need be, at least make the competition fair by correcting the codes and make the rule affect everyone on twitch because I have come upon quite a few irregularities during testing. But ideally, a midway compromise could be adjusting the algorithms to 5 tabs, which seems more in line with the honest lurkers' viewing behavior on Twitch.

   Thank you for your time and again, I hope Twitch will review their decision and at least leave a little bit more breathing space for the smaller streamer to grow.

3. Allow partnered streamers to keep sub points

   Sub points should be accumulated & not get expired along with expired subs as it helps streamers to unlock emote slots quicker. And with more emotes available, potential subscribers would be more enticed to sub or continue their subscription.

   Looking at "expired" sub points on our partnered dashboard not only demoralized streamers before the start of each stream, we'd get less interested to help promote subscription to our viewers & would encourage direct donation instead.

   My current subpoints which unlocked 24 emotes is now at 366/1,000 because 600+ gifted subs expired this month. I don't see how I could get my next 25th emote slot unlocked if Twitch doesn't allow partnered streamers to keep the subpoints earned fairly & paid for from viewers.

   Let us keep our hard-earned subpoints so we can grow Twitch together!

5. [Experiment] Follow Cues

   We’re experimenting with cues as a way to help streamers while they're live. Follow cues are a feature that reminds streamers to tell viewers to follow when they are live. Timing of these reminders are based on real-time data that tells us when the percentage of viewers not following you is higher than usual. We are testing location of these cues in either Chat or Activity Feed.

6. Reconsider the recent changes to the Twitch Terms of Service (6/6/2023), including those centered around branding.

   After receiving a notification about the changes to the Twitch Terms of Service on 6/6/2023, it is clear that there are changes that greatly affect streamers and how they are able to earn an income through the Twitch platform. Before I begin, I highly recommend that Twitch consider creating a way to be able to highlight changes made to their Terms of Service when they are updated, as there was no indication of WHAT changed specifically until I saw a thread on social media explaining it. This is an easy fix to a frustration that many have when a website's Terms of Service are leagues long.

   There are new guidelines as to branding and what is allowed (found here: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/branded-content-policy) that seem anti-creator, not to mention the fact that a recent event specifically breaks many of these rules just by existing. Take for example Games Done Quick, which does all of the items that are now theoretically prohibited. An event like that would no longer exist, or have to completely overhaul their process, to be able to fit within these rules. And creating exceptions for specific events seems an unreasonable response when many creators live off of the fact that they are able to earn additional income to help them run their stream, or make a living, based off of external factors. Limiting a streamer to not allow them to run these types of advertisements does not convince an end user to spend their money with the streamer in another way that benefits Twitch and Amazon as an organization.

   Please reconsider these changes or open discussion with the community in order to allow creators a better path towards earning income using your service, lest we choose other services for our communities. Thank you.

7. No affiliate for those who stream private servers

   Twitch needs to investigate the games that their affiliate requests are playing before handing out Affiliates. There are people who stream private servers who are getting affiliate status when they are in fact breaking Twitch rules!

   It is written in Twitch's community guidelines that "Unauthorized Content Sharing & Other Copyright Violations
   Uploading any content that you do not own, do not have the rights to, or are otherwise not authorized to use, violates our Terms of Service and may make your account liable to DMCA takedowns by third-party rights holders. We do not tolerate, for example: rebroadcasting other Twitch broadcasters’ content, playing pirated games, showing third-party movies and television shows, rebroadcasting a sports match, playing on UNAUTHORIZED PRIVATE SERVERS, or uploading content from other sites without permission of the copyright owner."

   Do not let Private server streamers get affiliate status.

8. Annual partner poll

   Nowadays there are lots of content creators on Twitch with follower/subscriber camps of sizes that easily outnumber those of some who have already reached their partner status. Yet, these persons still struggle after years (if not decades) of streaming to cross the required average viewer boundary which would grant them considerably wider possibilites to fascinate the audiences of theirs and other people.
   I've heard from them that if their follower camp would watch their stream at the same time, they already were partners. That is a fact that it is not a simple task for such amount of people with various daily routines to be able to gather for their content creators every time the streamer they support broadcasts. But, there might be another way for them (beyond the present methods) to help the creators to achieve their goals:
   For affiliate creators whose follower or subscriber number reaches a threshold accepted by mutual agreement of Twitch managers, I hereby propose the opportunity of annual partner polls among affiliate streamers in each country.
   Content creators satisfying the requirements could nominate themselves on an official website each year and viewers would be able to vote among the candidates on an online platform for a specific period of time. The winners of the poll would be entitled to possess the check alongside their channel.
   I hope this recommendation will be taken into consideration and proper measures will be made. Thank you for your attention.

9. Cozy Gaming category

   Cozy games are often indie projects and rarely get popular to the point that people are manually searching for them on twitch. I suggest we get a Cozy Gaming category so everyone can browse for cozy streams. Cozy gaming is a niche sector women and lgbtq+ people had to carve out for themselves in the industry and I hope with time it will bring more people in ❤🥺 As of right now, it's hard to find cozy streamers on twitch. I find most of them on tiktok because the algorithm makes it easier for me. I know we can have a cozy tag but people tend to forget it. Having a Cozy Gaming category would be great to facilitate exploring new comfy games that we might not be aware of, plus meet more comfort creators. It also could make it so much easier to raid because I'd know my audience would feel safer in a cozy space. When i stream cozy games i also struggle with finding more cozy streamers online. Unless I'm playing an extremly popular game, I'll not have many people in my game category. I'm hoping this idea will make it easier for all of us to connect and grow our cozy spaces 🌱

10. Start listening

    This really shouldn't be a suggestion but rather something that should've been done a long time already. Time and time again we hear stories about how Twitch isn't making money and that you didn't hold on to the momentum of COVID. And while I believe the first part of that I seriously doubt the second part, and with every update it starts to feel more like a poor excuse to cover up mismanagement. And I’ll explain why I feel this way and with me I suspect a lot of others.

    First let’s start with Gues Star/Stream Together. Today it received yet another update called “Drop Ins”, a feature nearly no-one asked for, for a product nearly no-one is using (less than 1% of streamers). Yet it seems to be the primary thing you’re developing. There’s not a single data point to support the insane amount of time spent developing this, and for some reason this isn’t clear to you. Yes, you as a first party have more data points, but it doesn’t take long to browse around and still see more people using Discord, Teamspeak, Zoom, and other products to collaborate than there are people using Guest Star. If there wasn’t a collection for Guest Star users that’s also used as a shelf on the front page, then you could call Guest Star users easter eggs by how difficult they are to find. So far, it’s not working out and that’s after all the marketing to try and get us to start using it and forced popups to add Guest Star panels to our dashboards. And while doing this you’ve killed a feature people would actually use for collaboration in the form of Squad streaming, which to this day many people use 3rd party websites for and making it available for more streamers is still the top voted idea in the Creators and Stream Features category.

    Then onto the mobile app, the new update feels like a cheap copy of TikTok, and somehow its not rolled back yet. The number one goal of the app at this point feels like trying to be some clone of TikTok. What is clear by all the reactions most users don’t want, with it absolutely dominating the mobile uservoice category with still many highly voted requests to undo the update and that’s after you’ve merged most ideas into 1. If we wanted a TikTok experience most of us would open the TikTok app which also has clips and livestreams. While the clips feed is a great feature it should’ve never been merged with live and made the home page. Rather than that it would’ve been much better if you took the same approach as Instagram where reels primarily got their own feed.

    I already briefly touched on the killed squad streaming feature, but in the same category there’s another feature people actually wanted to use but that you killed before it had a proper roll out (no just partners is not a proper rollout). Moments, many people liked it but for some reason you killed it before it had a proper roll out. For these 2 features in specific it feels like you roll it out to a group and then based of those data points decide to kill it or not, often you use partners for this, many of which indeed wouldn’t use features like this but are features that would be used by a lot of affiliates. Simply by listening to the community you would’ve easily known this rather than going off data points of a roll out to the wrong group.

    There’s an insane disconnect between the people in charge and the community. And that disconnect is pushing people away and causing a (if not the) decline in viewership. And this is not even touching on massive enforcement failures and other flawed programs like the Ambassador program (the idea isn’t flawed, the execution is).

    Please just start listening, many of us love Twitch but with each update love it a bit less.

11. Twitch Alerts: Speak Emotes

    Text-to-speech is a great feature of the Twitch alerts integration. However, when viewers trigger an alert that uses TTS on my channel, the integration does NOT read out emotes. Instead of hearing "fletch61Heart" read out, the text is skipped. I'd like an option to enable / disable reading of Twitch emotes so that broadcasters can choose for themselves what gets read during alert messages.

12. Show up in follower feeds as a guest on someone else's Stream Together session

    Right now, if you are not broadcasting and join someone else's Stream Together, you will not show up in your followers' feeds as "live": you show up fine as a +1 for the host of the stream, as well as the other live participants, but your own followers have no idea of your involvement in these streams on their follower feed unless you start your own broadcast (which is bad in certain scenarios, that I will expand upon in a bit).

    Hence why I suggest that if you are not "live", but still participating in a Stream Together session, you should show up in people's follower feeds as a guest on someone else's stream.

    Forcing people to go live for maximum visibility can actually hinder these efforts for certain types of projects, like group podcasts, tabletop sessions, game shows or other events centering around a certain stream: by encouraging people to have multiple streams on for a specific activity, you end up splitting the chats and audiences and ultimately cannibalize the group activity as a whole.

    The current Stream Together setup only works well if both/all streamers have their own PoV to contribute, like specific gaming sessions, but that one should already be covered by Squad Streaming: right now it feels like Stream Together is a bit haphazard in its implementation, since the podcasty nature of it gets muddled down by splitting the audiences.

14. Twitch dj changes as a variety streamer

    While I do understand the need for the changes allowing for a DJ category and also the perks of there being a DJ category - variety streamers who DJ and do other types of streams seemingly get left in more confusion. Being forced to separate your channel into multiple channels when you've built an audience on being a variety streamer doesn't seem fair - however if the revenue percentage fees for the DJs is channel wide and not based on categories or even whether you're a DJ who even plays copywritten music - it effectively means even non DJ streams my channel would do would also be subjected to the same fees even though they don't include music at all. I feel like there needs to be a better solution for that than making another channel when your existing one was built up for multiple things. It means effectively starting over for both things. There has to be a way to filter out funds generated per stream and take fees based on categories in the same way you can view your stats on how much revenue came through for each stream. If someone only DJs one day a week but games the rest of the time, it seems incredibly unfair that they'd either need to make a whole new channel for DJing and rebuild or choose to give up DJing or gaming to keep the same channel.

    I don't know what a best option would be, and I won't complain about the efforts to reach a somewhat reasonable solution for DJ stuff but I feel like the solution as existing does not meet the needs of the streaming community as a whole effectively enough. It creates additional confusion that is unnecessary, and it leaves those of us who don't only DJ and have a community based around that variety having to make some decisions that were never supposed to be part of it. The cool thing about twitch was the freedom to do whatever kind of stream I wanted depending on how I felt - sometimes games, sometimes DJing, sometimes just chatting. Now I have to pick a lane. No other category of streamer is being forced to make multiple pages or pick a lane. If I wanted an only DJ page for streaming I'd have paid the membership fee to stream on mixcloud or continued doing so in private server set ups as I did prior to pandemic. But also, I did come to twitch because I could DJ ALSO.

    Either finding a way to filter out categories that aren't DJ and exempt them from from additional fees or simplifying the DJ situation and making the DJ category a membership option with a monthly subscription that allows you to stream as a DJ unencumbered while also being able to continue being a variety streamer seems to be a better solution that could better benefit more people.

    Twitch channels got the ability to reach a lot of people and eternalize some pretty cool moments through Clips made by those who participate in their community. We all love that, those are mostly pretty great!

    But sometimes, people would clip stuff out of context that'd just be mean and could be harmful to the creators. For example, something taken out of context could be seen in a serious and really bad way, when the intention was not even there in the first place.

    Of course, we can always delete some of them that doesn't feel right. But I just wish it would be like something that the creator alongside their mods could at least supervise it first, allowing it or not to be published AND keep or change the Clip Title (really important, cause some people write some wild stuff, the clip is great but that title man...) as the Content Creator wishes it to be. So we get to keep building a great community and shaping it in the best way possible as we wish it to be.

16. Streamers choose their ‘shout out’ clips

    Wish streamers could choose what clips are shown when they receive ‘shout outs’. Example: the clip that shows of me is me troubleshooting during a video game. Not a good luck as far as promoting channel.

17. Make viewer streak start without missing a stream

    Hi,
    I have the viewer streak feature on my stream and noticed the streak only starts when missing a stream first.
    It would be nice to have the streak start even for viewer who didn't miss any stream.

18. Twitch streamer handlers/talent scouts.

    Some of us are exceptional but need a direct line to those with influence within management structure.

    Some of us are more valuable for other reasons rather than just a streamer and we are going to waste. You should have people hunting for that sort of person of whom can be a tremendous creative asset to your functionality and increase revenue.

    I've been wasting away on social media for 5 years now. I'm not socially acceptable, not a picture perfect marketable product for the likes of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube but a valuable product nevertheless. Just going to waste over here for so many different applications.

19. Shorts - 7-10 Second reels of clips

    Instead of just having discoverable clips, take inspiration from apps like Youtube, Tiktok and Instagram and have a reel/shorts section. Give creators the option to edit and upload their short clips to a reel with other creators for the casual observers to swipe through. Encode it so that every clip ends with a link to the channel, enable likes, share and follow commands on these clips. Provide options to scroll through all channels, recommended, friends, followed channels, subscribed channels etc. Ads revenue could be generated through this , discoverability for smaller channels, or large revenue you through top creators. This could be via a separate mobile app or integrated into the current twitch app. The key would be speed.

20. Do not allow streamers to imitate children, pretend to be children, or use avatars/vtuber models that depict them as children.

    There is a dangerous precedent on Twitch of adults using streamer avatars to bait "lolicons" to promote and monetize pedophilic-type content.
    In order to avoid this kind of content being promoted, Twitch should take a bolder stance and stop adults from pretending to be kids on their platform.
