1. Breaking Lines in chat!

   I would be very grateful if the twitch chat had a line break function. The commands and automatic messages would be easier and more friendly to the viewers.

2. military badge

   A global chat badge for verified military service. It could be a simple badge one for everyone or expanded for nations or nation/branch. ie: MilVet/Army/Marine/UK:Marine/US:Army/Aus:Navy, ect... lots of ways to potentially expand.

   First responder (dr/nurse/emt/fire/LE) also possible.

3. Add Profile Pictues to Chat

   On the left side of viewers names in chat, have a small profile picture so that people are more distinguishable. Would be better for smaller streamers and looks aesthetically pleasing. You could also make this an option that streamers can set in their chat settings.

4. Badges for streamers that have completed ****** assault/prevention and other types of training

   With the recent uptick in ****** misconduct allegations within the Twitch community I think that there is something that can be done to provide streamers, their moderators, and viewers a safer and more welcoming entertainment platform. As a veteran of the United States Air Force I have been required to take many hours of ****** assault prevention and response training along with suicide awareness training. This training is typically done through an initiative called Culture of Respect or Green Dot Training which can be found here https://cultureofrespect.org/program/green-dot-etc/ . This is a call for Twitch to partner with Culture of Respect and make their training freely available to all streamers and moderators. Upon completion, streamers should be able to display a badge on their profile and moderators a badge next to their name in chat showing that they have completed the training and have taken an oath to uphold a community of safety, respect, and well being.

6. Returning Chatter

   The "Returning Chatter" feature highlights the chat for people who have typed in chat at least twice in the last 30 days, this is a good feature but at the moment it appears to highlight all of their messages, could we get it so it only highlights their first message that stream?

7. Only the default announcement messages work through IRC

   At the moment, only the default "/announce" chat command works with IRC (chatbots etc) - "/announceblue", "/announcegreen", "/announceorange", and "/announcepurple" all fail to send messages.

8. Badges for "Sleeping" or "AFK" users

   We have one for those who have audio off, one for those who have video off... But what about the lurkers? Some people might be sleeping (or preparing to) and still watch through it. Other people might be unable to chat, but be watching and listening.

   Also add a quick way to set them on/off similar to how we can change the sub badge and the like.

9. Return login names instead of display names when using the /vips command

   If a user has a localized display name it will not be possible to use their name to query something from the api since it does not accept non English characters.

   The /mods command already returns login names so the /vips command should do that too.

   The command also returns usernames sorted alphabetically but when using the twitch web chat the command sorts usernames by the order they were added as a mod/vip so the irc command should match that behavior.

10. Don't open a Whisper box for every open tab

    If I'm whispering to someone in one chat, I don't need a whisper box opened on every other open Twitch tab. If for some reason this is necessary behavior, It would be nice if all the whisper boxes would close if 1 is closed.

    The way it works now, I have a useless whisper box still open, that needs to be closed manually, on every other tab.

11. Username/emote completion weird behavior

    I just came accross this bug multiple people reported in chat and only started to do it today:

    • While starting the sentence with @username and tabbing to auto complete the menu keeps poping up while writing https://i.imgur.com/DgJfTDJ.gif

    • While writing a message and then @username the auto complete menu does not popup https://i.imgur.com/xdUqFeL.gif

    Edit: Actually the same behavior for emotes as well

12. slow down chat for a single user

    Sometimes a user maybe chatting too fast/too much in a given time frame. I was watching a stream where a single user was constantly chatting and annoying the streamer. The relevancy of their messages decreased quickly overtime.

    Would it be possible to add a "Slow down Single User", where after each message the person can not chat for another 60 - 120 seconds. The time should be determined by the streamer. This way, we won't be effecting everyone in chat, and only that single user.

    The spaced out messages would hopefully deal with the user thinking about their messages before sending them.

13. enable link detection for non-standard latin letters

    The Problem:

    If there is a non-standard latin letter in a link, link detection ends with the last letter before that non-standard letter.

    For example:
    Link in chat: www.example.de/derötzi
    Link dectection generates a link to www.example.de/der and "ötzi" remains as plain text, but the text of the link and "ötzi" is kept together

    A fix would be helpfull, for this specific and other letters, for example there maybe letters like ä, ü, ñ, æ, ø, etc that may cause problems with link detection.
    (Note: I wasn't able to check myself if these other letters don't work in links, but I recommend to check them.)

14. Give chat bots a [bot] tag and separate them into their own user level/category

    I acknowledge that some parts of this concept has been requested in general, however I would like to offer a possible solution that will solve many of the suggestions at once, as well as offer further features down the line.

    ---Core Suggestions---

    I believe it would be beneficial to have chat bots strongly encouraged to note their account as such, and if possible, for known legitimate bots (bots that are known to serve a valid purpose, not lurk bots, stat scrapers, etc.) to be assigned a [bot] tag internally in the system, similar to how some other chat platforms handle them. This could either leverage the existing "Verified Bots" system, or preferably can be added as a generic tag to encompass other known bots that don't have or need "Verified" status if they don't actually interact with chat.

    With a bot tag present, it would be good to have a separate "Bots" category underneath "Users" in the chat user list. Bots set as moderators would remain in the moderators list as usual.

    ---Reasoning behind why it's needed---

    When researching how best to approach this issue, I read posts elsewhere from multiple users concerned about the lurking bots, especially when the bots are connected to chat when not even streaming. I personally see this with my channel, 3 bots connected 24/7, none of which I have added to my channel. Even if they are benign otherwise, having them mixed into the standard "Users" list causes many of the legitimate bots to be banned or blocked by the broadcaster or their mods without knowing their purpose, as many of the suggestions from other users is simply to mass ban. As noted in a similar suggestion from a bot developer, their bot is often found to malfunction due to users mistaking the bot as a user abusing their channel despite being a "Verified Bot", and they also receive negative or accusatory DM's.

    There has also been some amounts of discouragement felt by newer streamers that see a large number of "users" in their chat list, but not have many, if any viewers.

    If it is possible to integrate a bot tag, I believe legitimate bot creators would have no issue requesting that tag for their bot, in exchange for broadcasters and mods feeling safer having them present in the chat. Having the known useful bots separated would reduce the need of any further action by Twitch; it would simply give users more clarity regarding users vs bots in their chat, and empower them to make more informed decisions about banning bots that have not been compliant to add the bot tag. Such un-tagged bots would be more likely to be less desirable to have in their chat.

    There have also been instances of criticism from regular users directed at the broadcaster or channel regarding the presence of bots in chat. I too have personally received this criticism as a moderator of a channel in which no decision had been made by the broadcaster to seek out and ban benign bots.

    Some users are under the impression that non-viewing bots can receive gifted subs, and are dissuaded from gifting for that reason. As a channel moderator, I have personally experienced this situation unfold. If the bot tag is treated as a separate type of user level, this would confirm beyond all doubt that they would not be able to receive gift subs, and alleviate those concerns.

    On a personal note, I realize that for some this may seem unnecessary, and indeed, the raw viewer experience may not change much. However, seeing bots in the list at all times or consistently just really bugs me, for lack of a better way to put it. Multiple similar requests reassure me that I'm not the only one that feels this way. I'd rather not feel the need to play whack-a-mole with recurring viewer bots posing as users, and hope that my suggestion helps the community as a whole.

    ---Secondary Expandability---
    *Note: These suggestions would best apply if bots can be tagged as such internally.

    It may be useful to also add a bot global badge automatically bound to it in chat. This can be as simple as a grey monochrome badge featuring a line drawing of a robot face, a gear, etc. This would be beneficial for bots that post to chat mentioning bot info or containing a link, as it wouldn't be mistaken as a user self-promoting.

    Perhaps it can also be possible to have a channel setting to allow broadcasters to be able to hide the "Bots" category from showing for standard users, and only show for Moderators or above. This would also alleviate criticism from users regarding the presence of bots, as well as give viewers a decluttered experience.

    Another possible suggestion for bots would be to limit how many streams they can be concurrently in without possessing the bot tag, or possibly be verified. This would dissuade bots being in tens of thousands of chats while serving no apparent purpose.

15. Blocking people = Never seeing them

    You shouldn't have to deal with anyone ever again if you have them blocked. I recently had to block a friend because he was toxic but we are apart of the same community and so even with me blocking them, i still can see them being @'d and their name in chatlist also if you get blocked by someone why can you still see what their saying. Similar to Twitter if you are blocked by someone you shouldn't be able to see any interactions.

17. Automated IRC messages only updating on page load

    I’ve begun building an interactive intermission application for use on Twitch. Yesterday, the application was working fine.

    Today I woke up and chat messages sent via IRC are not visible to users in real time.

    Any messages sent by my application show up as past messages when a new user enters the chat, but no messages sent will appear in real time – they only update if the user re-enters the chat by reloading or opening the chat in a new window.

    For example, if the bot sends a consecutive integer every second. User 1 joins 10 seconds after the bot is activated, they will see a chat history of the bot counting 1…2…3…4… to 10. While in chat, User 1 sees no updates.

    User 2 joins five seconds later, they will see the bot having counted to 15 – even though User 1’s chat never updated.

    While in the chat, they will see no new digits, even if messages from other human participants are updating. If they reloaded the page later, all the missing messages update as though they had sent in real time.

18. Chat is not reconnected

    When the connection is lost for a considerable time, when reconnecting, a button can be pressed to reload the transmission but the chat keep frozen. The quick solution is to close the chat and open it after a few seconds, but it would be good if the reconnection is detected and the chat reconnects automatically as when the connection is lost for a few seconds.

19. Smooth scrolling chat bar (rather than jumpy)

    There should be an option on twitch where you can have the chat sidebar smoothly scroll up, rather than move up immediately each time a new message is sent. The current view makes it so hard to follow along, as you have to constantly flick your eyes upward in some of the more quick moving streams.

    The new option could speed up/slow down based on how much comment traffic is going on at the moment. Seems like a very easy idea for twitch to implement

    When a user clicks a link in chat.

    Where the link is written as

    A user in the Twitch app will click that and is redirected/sent to http://cohh.tv/store/

    Which results in an error page on android
