Consolidate "Collections" and "Franchises" As it stands, there is a lot of confusion and mixed up data between Collections and Franchises, all relating to the series in which a game belongs. Some games will be within a collection without a franchise, while other series titles such as "Legend of Zelda" has 2 different database ID's for its collection and its franchise.
Because of these differences, it's hard to utilise the series distinction in searches, as it might be in one category or the other, or both. If both are merged, there would be a more consistent way of determining a "series", with many games…

Notify about game data changes for followed games It would be great if I could get notified about game info changes for games I follow. Maybe you could show a message in notification section for this.

Show the "version title" in the search results By showing the version title, it would be easier to know which version is which for games with the same name in different versions. It could be shown in front of the release date.

Game list container pagination missing The element used for browsing lists of games that fit a certain page’s criteria (e.g. game engine pages, category/keyword pages, franchise pages) sometimes does not display the pagination, preventing users from seeing any games beyond the first 10 shown. Changing the sort mode can allow you to see a different slice of 10 games, thus verifying that there should be additional pages visible.

Add negative filtering (exclusion) by categories in IGDB advanced search. Introduction: The Problem
"The current advanced search functionality on IGDB.com allows users to include specific genres, themes, game modes, and player perspectives to filter results. However, there is no option to exclude games that belong to certain categories."

Allow users to change their username, display name, and profile picture I find it a bit disappointing that IGDB does not allow users to change their username, display name, and profile picture unlike over on Twitch. While such features might not seem important for a database site, adding such would benefit users who may not be comfortable continuing to use an identity they no longer go by. DLC View I think IGDB should borrow the "All DLC page" from Steam.
So, on a page that has lots of DLC, say

follow company On game pages we have "follow" button, would be nice to have same button for companies/publishers, to receive info about upcoming games/releases.

We have plans (and needs) to redo how we handle companies, but we also need to rethink how Follows are handled. Right now even follows on game page are underused in terms of potential.

Information which company worked on which platform It would be great if the API returned which company worked on which platform, for example Company A worked on platforms X, Y and Company B on platform Z. This information is visible on the edit page on IGDB, but not via the API (should presumably be included in the "involved companies" endpoint).

Treat null as zero When sorting an API request on e.g. totalratingcount descending, I'd expect the highest numbers to be at the start, and games with no ratings to be at the bottom. This is currently not the case, where games with no ratings (null) are at the start. This essentially makes the sorting function broken. Please treat null as zero in the API so that these games appear at the bottom of the response as expected.

Adding GameFAQ's My idea is simple; adding GameFAQ pages to the possible website additions on the website. This will allow people easy access to both answers to questions they might have regarding the game as well as a walkthrough if needed.

Add user review section to front page I was thinking about how to increase the amount of user reviews and interactivity between members and think this may be the best solution. Right now there is a section for recently reviewed games, but that doesn't seem to be showing user reviews? (Clicking on most items returns nothing, may be recently rated?) This would give more incentive to leave reviews which would appear on the front page for a short amount of time. Standalone Expansion not available in series collection pages Currently if you look at a series collection page, the main games, dlc and expansions are listed, but not standalone expansions.
Examples:

I think it is hard to find those stand alone expansions from the perspective of trying to find all standalone games in a series and would really like to have them represented.

Tooltip Definitions for Game-types and Theme-types Often when entering different Themes, Game-types, and/or Genres to define or classify a title, it is often up to the Editor's personal definition to what entails each category. Some may feel a "Shooter" only means FPS, others may include Shmups, or anything that fires a gun like Mega Man.
It would be very helpful to have a defined definition for each category display when entering each one into a Edit page by hovering your mouse pointer over the entry.

8 votesSo, we actually used to have Tool Tips on our game edits, specifically for the Franchise and Series field.
This feature broke at some point during our infrastructure migration post-acquisition, and disabled it.
Now, we absolutely would like to bring this back indeed, and expand to more fields. As we are not constantly adding new data points and are putting a big focus right now on our contribution tools this is an excellent suggestion.
We’ll take a look at the best places to implement them!

Game category needed for: Tomb Raider IV-V-VI Remastered I understand you don't do "Bundles" but then how come you have a game category for: "Tomb Raider I-II-III Remastered" but not for the latest release: "Tomb Raider IV-V-VI Remastered". Dear Twitch website devs and tech support, please consider doing this. People broadcasting these games and viewers searching for these games are flustered and all over the place. This is not right.
