1. Default Page on load-up

   Please make us able to select a default page for when the Twitch App loads up.

   As no doubt many others did, this app was oriignally used as an AddOn updated for World of Warcraft, now we're forced to view so much useless streams and games every time the app loads up, and on top of that we have to then move over to the mods tab, select WoW, then again select which version of the game we want to update for (PTR, Beta, Live, other servers etc - even if you disable updating for them!), and THEN update the AddOns.

   tl;dr: Let us select a default page/game for load up, specifically the WoW AddOn page for the live game in this case.

2. Sort by Categories & Channels by Relevancy Instead of Current Viewers

   When browsing categories and channels on Twitch the results are sorted by the current viewer count. While this is one way to sort things, it doesn’t facilitate connecting viewers with the content they are most likely to watch. When looking at other content platforms such as Youtube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, etc… none of them present viewers with content based solely on how many people are currently watching it but instead use algorithms to present them with recommendations based on the viewer’s previous behavior and the viewing behavior of other viewers. I believe Twitch should have all of the data necessary to sort categories and channels by relevancy to the current viewer where the current view count is one of many factors used.

   The current Twitch “front page” has “Live channels” and “Categories” “recommended for you” so clearly there is already a recommendation/relevancy system in place. As a first step using this existing system to place all recommended channels and categories at the top of the list before reverting back to current viewer count sorting would be a big improvement.

   With this change, it will then become incredibly important that the recommendations are relevant. To improve the recommendation algorithm, I recommend that the organic path to discovering new channels is heavily weighted. The most common way a channel is discovered in my experience is when the channel is raided or hosted by a channel the viewer already often watches. This pattern can be repeated recursively with each step removed having less weight on relevancy then the one before it. While the “people who watch X also watch Y” type weighting has merit, Twitch is someone unique because of its emphasis on communities. The actions taken between streamers therefore should have at least as much weight as simple common viewership.

   In summary:
   Sort Categories & Channels by Relevancy
   Use the “front page” “Live channels” and “Categories” “recommended for you” at first
   Fallback on concurrent viewer count when recommendations are exhausted
   Improve the recommendation system to produce more relevant results

3. Give Twitch Users the ability to opt out of being redirected to hosted channels

   Picture this : You have just fallen asleep listening to a ASMR stream, then the ASMR artist you were listening to hosts someone who's playing video games with heavy metal music and it wakes you up. I would like the ability to either A) opt out of being redirected by the streamer I chose to a streamer I haven't. or B) opt out of being redirected to a host outside of the category profile. (Example if I am watching Rainbow 6, I don't want to be redirected to someone playing Super Mario, I would like to be able to watch people who only play Rainbow 6, only play music, only talk, and so on. [ The example I used it a real example as I was woken up in the middle of the night because the host of an asmr host, hosted a gamer playing heavy metal ]. Thank you.

4. An option to hide reruns

   I only watch twitch streams to interact with the streamer live. Would it be possible for the team to add a button to hide rerun streams?

5. would be cool if I could change the twitch website language

   Im from Montréal, Canada, my twitch is in french probable because my windows is in french. The thing is when I arrive on twitch, the front page show me streams from the european french and thats not what I want. I watch only english stream from Canada and US. Can I change language so when I connect to twitch I see the US front page? Thanks.

6. Allow users to create taxonomies/categories to sort streamers they follow.

   I would like to be able to sort the streamers I follow into different categories, perhaps based on a taxonomy system. For instance, I follow a lot of Rocket League streamers, I also follow a lot of Zelda streamers, and I follow a lot of musicians. I would like to be able to tag these streamers. So I may tag Rocket League streamers with: "Rocket League," "Games," "Funny," etc. And I may tag music streamers with "Original Music," "Covers," "Funny," etc. Then when I go to my follow page, I could easily sort and display streamers I am in the mood to look at.

   In the example above, to take it further, if I clicked "Funny," I would see Rocket League and Music streamers who I've tagged as "Funny," and that's fine with me.

   To take it even further, perhaps I could even choose to view other viewers' recommended tags (it could be like the Recommended section at the bottom of the follow page currently), to discover new "Rocket League" streamers or "Original Music" streamers, etc.

7. Use this idea to help to build new streamers into successful long-term content providers!

   New streamers that are grinding out their new streams and putting in the time, money and resources required to build a successful stream would grow more quickly and become long-term reliable content providers if Twitch could implement one simple change to their platform.

   Currently ONLY streamers with high viewer counts are profiled and listed at the top of the platform when browsing the live channels or categories. For a new streamer to be seen, a viewer must scroll down (WAY DOWN) to the bottom of the streamers list.

   Twitch should create 5 small thumbnails (Labeled something like "New Streamers To Watch" or "Up & Coming Streamers to Watch" etc.) and place them in the top right (or left) upper corner of the page when loaded. (The five thumbnails should always stay at the top of the page even as people scroll through the category or live stream lists.

   When a viewer mouse-overs the thumbnail, it could pop-out and show a larger view of the new streamers as they stream. If clicked, the viewer would be taken to the stream.

   So, to give an example of how this would be a HUGE benefit to the new streamer, this is how it would work:

   1.) Any new streamer that has been streaming less than 12 months and who has less than 25 active viewers while they are streaming would be placed in a queue with other new streamers in their category and they would begin to cycle into the thumbnail slots every 10-15 seconds.

   So, every 60 seconds at least 20-30 new streamers have positive exposure to a new audience that could lead to more Followers and help to grow their stream. This would provide a huge boost to new streamers and motivate them to grow their streams and not get discouraged before they have a chance to grow.

   As a new streamer, this is just my opinion of something that would help "me" and hopefully other new streamers as well.

8. sort results

   I like to watch small streamers. I want to be able to sort my search results based on viewer count. I want to sort showing least views first if i so choose. Tired of scrolling for days to get towards the bottom to click on someone to only start the scrolling to the bottom again

9. Add fliters for popular RP servers for specific games

   For games like GTA V, ATLAS, ARK and soon RDR2 on PC maybe this year or next year, can you add filters.

   For example I can search for streamers who are playing a specific server, like NoPixel, Family RP, TwitchRP, etc.

10. Ability to refresh the list of reccomended past broadcasts shown on the Home and "Following" pages.

    The "Videos recommended for you" and "Based on your viewing history" sections sometimes stop showing new recommendations and right now there's no way to refresh or dismiss them.

    As it is now, the recommendation algorithm seems to favor videos that don't necessarily match what you've actually been viewing recently. For example, instead of the broadcasts I'm in the middle of watching I see videos that have high view counts but are months old.
    ->It would be great to have a way to show a new list of videos or/and even a way to dismiss videos you're not interested in.

    small twitch streamers shouldn't be put at the bottom of the list because there only way to grow is the people that scroll all the way to the bottom or social media i think they should be mixed in with the bigger streamers

12. Add an Amazon Music channel

    My proposal is to set up a channel similar to AlwaysOn that broadcasts the top 100 purchased songs on Amazon Music. A countdown of the top ranked daily playlist could be cycled through and, for those who have Twitch Prime, free daily song requests of any Amazon Music song. Another possibility path to take would be hourly give aways of a few songs worth of Amazon Music gift certificates. With both being used, I feel that the requests will get the people into the channel, and the give aways will keep them listening longer. And as always...giving everyone another reason to buy Prime.

13. Adding an official picture to killzone 2 game category

    Hello,

    My gametag is DeMoNFH361 and I am looking forward to doing to elite live streams of killzone 2. Is there a way the game picture can be updated in the twitch killzone 2 selection because as of now it only displays a generic icon instead of the official Killone 2.

14. Reward viewers for watching new streamers

    The idea is simple. More views = More market share = More ad revenue, right?

    People tend to watch the same streamers and it becomes a routine. In order to maximize the amount of time a viewer spends on Twitch, it would make sense to reward viewers to tune into new streams so they are able to find more streams they may potentially like, which in turn increase ad views on the platform in general. By giving people an incentive to diversify their viewing habits, you are encouraging viewers to find more streams they like. The time a viewer spends on Twitch will go up without them even noticing! It would also make Twitch more interesting for the viewer and help the viewer be immersed in the Twitch community. For example, think of it as a buffet. If you know there are a lot of offerings you enjoy, then you are more likely to go back often and recommend it to your friends. Anything stagnant becomes uninteresting and in today's society, where there are so many options to spend your free time, it would be in Twitch's best interest to showcase a variety of streams to a viewer so they stay on the platform longer.

    My suggestion is that Twitch keep a log or history of a user's viewing activity. You can indicate a new stream as 1) a never-before-seen streamer or 2) a streamer the viewer has not watched within the past 6 months. If a user views a new streamer for 15+ minutes, you should offer a reward and maybe have an option that lets them consider following the streamer as well. You should keep a 15+ minute requirement for new streams because it would force viewers to give the new streams a real chance. A viewer won't be able to determine if they really like a stream or not if they don't watch it for a fair amount of time.

    Twitch can also potentially make more money off this new viewer reward system too. For example, if a viewer ends up subscribing to a new streamer through the reward program, you can potentially take a higher cut of that subscription fee because Twitch basically marketed that new streamer to the subscriber. It's the same way OpenTable charges restaurants for dining reservations. Nowadays, restaurants can choose to pay anywhere from $1 to $5 per diner and OpenTable will market a restaurant heavily if the restaurant chooses to pay them more per cover.

15. Allow refreshing of followers list

    Add a button across from "Show More" in the followers list to refresh the followers list without refreshing the entire page, and without leaving the streamer's page.

    My followers list is not always up to date and sometimes I'm watching one stream while waiting for another stream. It would be nice to have a button to refresh the list without actually leaving the current stream.

16. Search results page after search bar query

    Please add a page to click for a display of videos based on the word/s you have searched for. The current system of scrolling within the search bar is simply not good enough to look for a specific video in the seas of content now populating twitch. This would provide a user optimization in searching for content.

17. Choose what Game Categories to add to Homepage

    Currently the "Recommended Categories" recommends randomly selected games, I assume based on streams I've viewed before.

    I would request adding the option to add our own games that we're interested in to the homepage, perhaps in it's own separate section, or replacing "Recommended Categories".

18. Permanent filters

    I would like to be able to set permanent filters on my profile. An example would be to filter for English. Unfortunately I only speak English so I only want results that are in English. When I am searching for streamers I only want English streamers to appear in the results.

19. Browse front page carousel efficiently based on the mouse focus

    On the front page (either from Twitch desktop app or browser), I instinctively thought that scrolling "up" or "down" while having the mouse focus on it would scroll the carousel, and not the webpage.

20. Versatile speedrunning categories that change depending on the game.

    You could pull the categories from SpeedrunsLive or whatever, but this would be a real help and would help people find what they are looking for.
