Sensitive social issues Bullet points need to be removed, not 'clarified'
it doesn't matter how much you 'clarify' the point of the final two bullets, they are not fit for the political category especially when contrasted with the other things in the category. Putting peoples rights in there opens up marginalized groups to hate and bigotry. We want the points REMOVED and twitch's response is completely missing the point the community has been making.
At what point does something go from 'personal experience' to 'too political'? if a streamer talks about their own right to an abortion being taken away where they live, is that personal experience or political? it is entirely subjective. Is a trans person talking about their experiences with HRT 'fact based'? Who determines this? The bigots who will undoubtedly mass report said streamers to shut them up?
"intermittent mentions of (...) sensitive social issues are not required to have the politics and sensitive social issues label" how long is intermittent? most streamers i watch like to have small conversations with chat about social issues, how long can these chats go on for?
I don't understand why you refuse to just take out the 'Sensitive social issues' point. It's what the user base is asking you to do and it is the right thing to do.

we need to decenter whiteness.
I am sure why this content classification is even a situation, right?
we have to tag our stream as "sensitive social issues" because it's sensitive for the white people who don't like hearing about the realities of existing as a NOT white person?
most of your platform does not exist as a cis, het, rich, abled bodied, neurotypical, land owning white men.
and even the white population on twitch isn't all guys.
There are many queer, disabled, neurodiverse, gender non conforming white people on the platform.
When marginalized people talk about their experience and others try to silence them saying it's too political - it is more about how the marginalized streamer's lived experience is clashing with the reality of the privilege the viewer exist in.
and because of that clash of realities - the backlash happens, the dogpiling, group dms of white men complaining and saying the streamer is just an angry woman when not thinking of ALLLLLL the reasons why a woman may be angry on or offline, mass reporting. Because they can't handle that they the viewer are upholding systems that negatively affects people that don't exist in the same kind of privilege as them.
the fact the viewer probably doesn't have to worry about
- racial profiling
- being chased out of a bathroom for not fitting gender norms
- being punished for accessing abortion
- existing as a Black person
- being actively genocided
- Ableism
- Asiaphiles
- Fetishsization/Objectification/Dehumanization
- Justification of harm
- ICE Violence
- Transphobia
- Islamophobia
- Xenophobia
- existing and breathing outside by yourself as a femme presenting person
- being stalked and assaulted because people feel entitled to your body/person
- being doxxed because people get mad at You when talking about real lived experiences that clash with the viewer's perception of reality and are deemed "too political"
etc.as per the content classification
"Discussions or debates about politics or sensitive social issues such as elections, civic integrity, military conflict, and civil rights in a polarizing manner."WILD how anyone talking about their human or civic rights or the lacktherof might be considered polarizing. It's only sensitive or polarizing for those who believe some people deserve human rights and to be treated as whole human beings and some people are discardable or not even worthy of humanity.
I live in a state that has voter suppression, abortion bans, and is pressing AGAIN to fight against section 504 which is important for ALL of us, not just disabled people. I think all of us should be able to exist and have rights and be seen as whole human beings and I KNOW how unpopular that is. Because I AM VERY UNPOPULAR.
It is one thing to not be in the mental state to deal with it because maybe you have a whole lot of other trauma happening to process - like your family being indiscriminately murdered by state sanctioned violence - but just calling social issues "sensitive" seems to protecting people who don't want to acknowledge it happening or want to deny their role in it on and/or offline.
ANYWAY
while we are here in this era of racial profiling and ICE detention/violence

That is a good question... That is a very valid concern if one talks about their own personal experiences being too political and I think such things wouldn't need clarification
In a perfect world, anything that is legal should go any speech. We'd actually be living up the ideas of free speech even beyond the first amendment. At the same time, I have to ask if what you're saying is happening is actually happening

This comment misrepresents both the platform and its leadership. Twitch, like all major platforms, enforces clear community guidelines that explicitly prohibit hate speech, including antisemitism and extremist rhetoric. While no platform is immune from bad actors, Twitch actively moderates content, bans violators, and continues to improve its enforcement systems. Conflating the actions of a few with platform-wide intent is misleading.
As for Dan Clancy, there is no evidence that he has “promoted” antisemitic creators or tolerated hate speech. That’s an unfounded accusation. Criticism of leadership should be rooted in verifiable facts, not incendiary claims. The statement about Hasan "inciting to kill Rick Scott" is a gross distortion....if such an event had occurred, it would have triggered widespread legal action, which it did not, because it didn't happen in the way suggested.
The claim that Twitch is an "un-advertisable hellscape" also ignores the platform's ongoing partnerships with major brands and its continued relevance in the livestreaming industry. Revenue and ad models have shifted across the entire digital ecosystem. Twitch is adapting, like every other platform.
Accusations of harboring "domestic terror" are not only irresponsible, they trivialize real threats and emergencies by weaponizing emotionally charged language for drama. If you oppose certain policies or creators, there are constructive ways to voice it. But spreading misinformation doesn’t help anyone... it only polarizes the conversation and discredits legitimate concerns.
Also for added insight and context on the particulars of the matter and fauxtroversy, an insert of sorts:
The person's message also conflates opposition to Zionism with antisemitism, which is both misleading and deeply harmful. Being critical of Zionism, a political ideology, is not the same as being antisemitic. In fact, many Jewish people themselves oppose Zionism on moral, religious, or political grounds. It’s worth noting that there are more Christian Zionists globally than Jewish Zionists, especially in political circles that push aggressive foreign policy under a religious guise.
Equating Judaism with Zionism is not only inaccurate, it’s antisemitic in itself. It wrongly holds Jewish people collectively responsible for the actions of the Israeli state, which is a dangerous generalization. The distinction between Jewish identity and the policies of the state of Israel is critical, and ignoring it erases the voices of countless Jewish individuals who advocate for Palestinian rights and peace.
A recent interview with a teenage genocide survivor from Yemen underscores this nuance. He passionately condemned Zionism while simultaneously welcoming Jewish, Christian, and all people in supporting the struggles of Yemenis and Palestinians. His stance is not driven by hate but by a deep yearning for justice and solidarity. Painting such voices as “extremist” is not only unfair, it silences the very people who have suffered the most.
Criticism of leadership should be based on facts, not on emotional hyperbole or false claims. The statement about Hasan inciting violence is a fabricated distortion with no legal or factual standing. Claims of a "domestic terror problem" and "advertisers fleeing in droves" are exaggerated fear tactics that obscure meaningful discourse.

Twitch has become a breeding ground for antisemitism and extremist rhetoric. Streamers openly promote hate against Jewish communities, and disturbingly, Twitch’s leadership, Dan Clancy, has tolerated this by promoting these antisemitic creators. Ad revenue is falling drastically, big creators are being paid much less for ad runtime because the CEO, Dan Clancy, is making Twitch an un-advertisable hellscape, and it's only going to get worse. There are over 15,000 signatures for a petition to remove him and growing every single day. Normal people do not support this rhetoric. I will never give a cent of my money to Twitch/Amazon until the domestic terror problem is fixed on your platform. We all remember when Dan Clancy's poster boy Hasan incited to kill Rick Scott.
ADVERTISERS ARE FLEEING IN DROVES. DROP DAN CLANCY.

Twitch, this is actively hurting the LGBTQ community and does little else. All this does is shove down the "woke thoughts" on sexuality and gender, this topic is not triggering, it is necessary. Please revert this change.

You literally could have banned our account and we'd have taken less of an impression that you don't want us here from that than we do from what we're seeing here.
Between this and paving over entire communities' histories with the highlights thing, you have made it abundantly clear that all marginalized and vulnerable users are on our own.
We will be setting up presonal hosting and DIY streaming services through something like Owncast or PeerTube and urging all of our followers and subscribers to please cancel their Twitch subscriptions to us and instead show their support through direct tip jar sites and the like. I suggest everyone else left out to dry by these recent changes look into doing the same. If you don't know someone with a server, VPS services are often quite affordable depending on the actual size of your audience. Besides, at least that way you'll be free from having to fear what big company is going to stab us in the back next. (Everyone who thinks migrating their highlight archives to YouTube will keep them safe from being cast aside like this again, oh, honey....)
We wanted to stay here. Our subscribers were paying for our storage costs. You did this. You betrayed us all and pushed us out, and I sincerely hope your entire rotten organization goes the way of X as a direct result.

The changes to ad revenue metrics reflect that the 'sensitive social issues' category was always meant to be weaponized against BIMPOC and LGBTQ+ streamers.
This is a betrayal of the very people who built and popularized this platform. -

Hey, remember when I said it would be used to discriminate against minorities?
With the ad revenue changes, this is now effectively financially discriminating against LGBT+ people. And wow, that only took 6 months!

My life and experience with discrimination and repression are factual. Marking these as "sensitive social issues" is pure victim blaming. In fact, it is not neutral but taking a position that my rights and existence are debatable, and supposedly not fit for polite conversation and the general public.

Sensitive social issues require thoughtful attention and respect, rather than attempts to simplify or downplay them. It's important to recognize that these topics are often complex, and should not be reduced to bullet points or quick fixes. Instead, fostering meaningful dialogue and understanding is crucial. Seriously, by this point I'm beginning to suspect you actually genuinely do not care about the safety or wellbeing of your marginalized community members, and perhaps you're trying to "obey in advance" the pushback people anticipate from the incoming US administration. Was all that talk about Pride and supporting POC and so on just for good PR? If you truly do care about us at all, then you'll listen to us and not put something that can and will be weaponized against us into your rules.
