Months later, versions of browsers later, this is still a Twitch issue that isn't fixed.

Whenever I load any page on Twitch, there is a high chance that many page elements won't load, and instead appear as a ghost icon with the text "Failed to load module", or will simply display the spinning circle permanently. The former mostly happens to buttons and menus, while the latter mostly happens to things like the stream video player.
I have to refresh the page upwards of 20 times in order to actually get everything working. It's seriously frustrating, especially when I'm trying to set things up for my stream. The situation is made worse by the fact that every page element can fail at random, so when hitting F5 makes two things start working, another one might stop working.
I've inspected what's going on in the browser's developer console while this happens, and it seems that it's related to Twitch's scripts failing to fetch CSS or JS chunks for various parts of the page in a nonstandard manner.
This is in Mozilla Firefox 91.0 on Manjaro Linux. None of the other websites I've accessed over the last year have had such a problem.

I don't use BTTV, FFZ, or anything like that.
If I turn off all other extensions, Twitch behaves a bit better, but I'm not about to use my browser with no extensions.
Interestingly, even though uBlock Origin's filtering is turned off for twitch.tv, its mere existence is enough for Twitch's frontend to misbehave badly. It's the only website I know to have this sort of bug.

Interestingly, this only happens in Firefox. I don't observe this behaviour in Chromium. From the troubleshooting I've done, it would appear that Twitch uses some super-special way of fetching remote resources, and it doesn't play nice with the way Firefox loads websites. Given that all other websites I've accessed work perfectly fine, I would expect this to be fixed on Twitch's side.

Switching between live stream player and various tabs of the channel page is still jank. Please, put a little bit of effort into this, if there are any frontend designers left at the company.

I don't understand why all these hosting-related requests got piled in here, but, regardless...
I like the "While I'm offline, check out ..." text, which gives a bit more clarity to what a viewer is looking at, but the mechanics are still confusing. If I host someone with /host, will their stream appear full-size, or just as a carousel card? Does autohosting work? How does a viewer expand something in the carousel (hosted stream or past broadcast) into a full-size player?
Ultimately I think the carousel is a misguided design that forces "modern app aesthetics" on something that should be given its own flavour. Have a larger layout with more things side-by-side. Put a large player on one side, and thumbnails on the other, and let me choose what featured content goes where, whether that's a hosted stream, channel trailer, latest vod, a popular clip, a new highlight, or multiple of those. Add a simple button to expand the player to full size.
And if the hosted stream is already being played full-size: Please, an **obvious indication** of that fact, instead of the tiny text under my username.

Last week I literally raided another streamer and was confused as to why they were responding to invisible chat messages and not the raid. Turns out they had just hosted someone else, but it's basically impossible to tell!

It's been over a year, and I reckon viewers can still have trouble noticing when and whom a channel is hosting when they have the full-size player open.

Right now, when hosting another channel (both autohosting and manual), the only indication to a viewer that I'm hosting and not actually live, is the small text underneath my username saying "Hosting SoAndSo".
Viewers will miss that. Nobody will see that. I had to specifically look for it when I thought something was off and I was seeing person A streaming on person B's channel.
The old colourful banner across the page that said "ThisPerson is hosting SoAndSo" and provided a link to their channel was a lot clearer. It communicated this in a straightforward, obvious way.
Now, the new way of showing this might be an interesting take on increasing viewer engagement with hosted streams, but viewers also need to be made aware that they're not watching the person whose profile picture and name is big and prominent, or else there will be a lot of confusion, and perhaps a lot of accidental unfollows.

Exactly. I've just done my profile banner, and it's a hot mess. The only good thing at the moment is that the banner doesn't get murdered by JPEG compression.

I uploaded a 3000x1200 90 kB PNG image. It was downscaled to 1200x480, then upscaled to whatever this is. It overhangs the corner, and neither tiles nor covers the background of the page like anyone would expect it to.
Does absolutely noone at Twitch do any validation on anything other than 1920x1080? Please fix.
