Change/Add Categories of/to Clips
It would be nice if you could edit or add a Category to existing Clips on Twitch.
Example No. 1: A lot of my clips on my channel had their category removed, after the game category "Deponia: The Complete Journey" got removed from Twitch. If it would be possible to edit categories on clips, these clips wont be categoryless anymore.
Example No. 2: Imagine a VOD, where someone plays two games. Lets call them "GAMEONE" and "GAMETWO" for orientation. If the VOD is live and a clip is created, it get the category of the game which is currently live. But if the VOD isnt live anymore, and a clip gets created, the category will ALWAYS be GAMEONE, regarding if the category has changed when the streamer was live. So there it would also make sense to change the game category on clips as well.
This severely affects the discoverability and watch time of the clips made due to them being in the wrong game category.
For example, if there is an awesome Animal Crossing clip being saved under the Fortnite category, it wouldn't be discovered almost at all since no one in their right mind would search for a game's clip in a different category.
I really want this feature!
As someone who streams multiple categories per stream and makes clips from the VOD after stream, this feature would help A LOT. I have quite a few clips miscategorized due to them defaulting to the first category of the stream.
Can we please make this happen already?
would like to say I just had the same exact thing happen to me just now. made a clip from a VOD, but because it is from the second game I played during stream, the category is showing a game that's not even the same genre, let alone right game.
Just found a miscategorized clip I have and would like to change it. I can edit the title, but not the game. I'm imagine there are others I haven't noticed yet.
it would be a good thing to be able to change the category of existing clips,
so creators have the ability to correct their mistakes in forgotten category and title changes or wrong allocated clipcategories after they change it midstream
the inability to do this is a variety streamer's NIGHTMARE.
yes please, it will be a big help, in case you play difrent games during stream.
and also if you do things like stream raiders
Can't believe this is still an unresolved issue
This would be great!
It astounds me that Example 2 is still an issue more than four years after the VOD Chapters feature launched. The site knows which category the stream was in at any given time, so why don't clips inherit that same information?
Of course this doesn't help any pre-existing miscategorised clips, so the ability to change them manually should still be implemented even if they make clips work with chapters.
I'd be careful about giving viewers the power to select the category of a clip though. It seems like something better kept to just the streamer, editors and mods.
I make clips from vods all the time. The most frustrating thing is not being able to change the category of a clip during or after its already been made. The only way to do this is to first change the category of the entire vod and then make said clip.
It would make things so much easier if Twitch allowed the broadcaster, their editors, maybe mods, and whoever made this actual clip to change the category afterwards.
In addition it would also be super helpful if editors could make clips directly from the highlighter tool.
Please do this! It's annoying when categories can't match the clips 🙏🏻
I agree with this whole heartedly, as a fellow streamer who switches between games mid stream
The clip generator should check the category at the time of the clip and not the initial category the stream was started with.
Streamers regularly change categories mid-stream and currently clips are being miscategorized.
Currently when you change categories after starting stream, any clip made will always be categorized under what you started stream at.
I would love to have a feature added in the video producer where there is a clip section for editing. Or even just the feature to edit the category in the clips section.
Yes please. Let us edit the category of clips we made.
