IS there any data backing up the claim in the blogpost about the vast majority of streamers? "The vast majority of our creators don’t have recorded music as a part of their streams"
I'd like to know the data this claim is based on.2 votes -
Singing copyrighted music I’ve tried to triple check my clarity. Can I get in trouble for singing a copyrighted song if I use nothing like the music, original voice, etc? Just musicless karaoke style?

Clarification about whether or not video game music is safe when it comes to DMCA? Hello, this is CuppOfCocoa. A few months back, I sent a message to support asking if playing original video game music (for example, having Mario music playing in the background) is safe for DMCA, but the response was that there was not enough information available to give the answer. A friend of mine said that it should be safe, because if you were to be playing that video game (Mario) and streaming it, you would be having the original video game music on stream anyway; I wanted to see if there was new information/an official answer on this (Nintendo might…

Better feedback for VOD Muting I agree we as streamers need to be more responsible for what we broadcast. But having a VOD muted or content removed without full understanding of the reason isn't useful. I have had VODs mutes for in-game content, but I couldn't figure out what could possibly trigger such an action. Please, help us do better.

DMCA issue Some of us smaller streamers and even the bigger streamers. We like to play some chilled music but with DMCA we cannot do that anymore and we have to rely on just normal game sound. And sometimes the music in the game in poo poo an we do not like it. So that is why we have our own list of music. So anyway we can fix this?

Concerning DMCA Will the next steps to help creators with DMCA warning and take downs to be more proactive? So far, what I've seen, is that Twitch has been more reactive.
Is it a feasible solution for Twitch to be an intermediary for creators and the music industry to broker a solution that would allow creators to pay a fee for the use of copyrighted music. I'm sure that many creators would like to have that opportunity and if Twitch were willing to find a way to make a deal with the music industry to facilitate this, Twitch would be seen as…2 votes -

Give us a place to store our music liscences on our Twitch account Allow us to upload our music licenses to our twitch account so we cannot get DMCA'd for music we have been given permission to use or have created our selves any more. At the very least it would expedite disputing a DMCA in most cases...

Let us be proactive instead of reactive regarding music we play legally. Allow us to avoid the mute and then prove it Allow us to upload the license proof for rights to play or the CC Attribution playlist for music before a stream, so we don't get muted or a copyright strike. I got muted today for music I played was CC Attrib from an artist I am a patron for and they release all their music that way. I would be happy to give you my playlist and if applicable upload proof that what I play is ok to do so. The current system is super frustrating.

Royalty Free Music Getting Removed Clips using Bensound songs (which is a royalty free music site) are getting auto removed. This shouldn't be happening! I even have a license for use of music on Twitch and they're still getting auto removed. https://bensound.com/licensing

Please learn from the MixCloud platform and do the due diligence to handle the copyrights requirements at the platform level It is unfair to expect that individuals will be able to handle the copyright requirements for streaming all over the world, "it would be next to impossible for an individual DJ to clear the rights needed globally to stream a mix. This is not the fault of artists or labels. It’s down to the platforms"
Please follow the example from the Mixcloud platform. I think Amazon is big enough to be able to handle this.2 votes -
Alternative "Soundtrack for twitch app" for desktop audio An app to guide your desktop audio output through so it can be deleted without also removing the microphone output, so we can allow for the creations of clips again without fear of DMCA strikes on clips and VODS while maintaining the streamers speech. Just like "Soundtrack for Twitch" but without the forced 'royalty free music'. basically a way to mute/remove desktop audio from Vods/clips.

Make it more clear if you can play games with copywritten music in it (specifically osu!) Put a label on what's ok to stream in the game and what's not

Give a pop up warning for games that include DMCA songs when choosing your game category, so streamers know right away they'll get strikes When choosing what game you're about to stream on Twitch, it would be easy if Twitch could start keeping track of or have a record of which (major) games will copy strike their in-game music or sounds. Having to accept a checkbox stating 'this game does not allow streaming of its in-game music' would really be beneficial and stop hundreds of strikes from happening in the first place.
If streamers knew before hand and had to accept immediately-muted VODs for those games, it would probably save a lot of time on everyone's end.
If you accept the box, your VOD…2 votes
