Enabling AI is stealing from every single creator on twitch

Agreed we should absolutely be auto opted out with the option to opt in. I didn't find out about this happening UNTIL a different creator even told me. The fact that it wasn't well broadcasted to creators even is not fantastic.

"If it's opt in, no one would opt in" is LITERALLY telling on yourself. And then acting like we should be grateful that you gave us an option to opt out?? I'm not grateful, I'm angry that it's there in the first place. Most streamers on twitch are on the smaller side (less than 100 viewers), and we work our a**es off to get to where we are and earn what little we do. The LAST thing we wanted was our hard work to be fed into making ai slop. And I refuse to call it anything else. It's GARBAGE. The feature shouldn't be a thing in the first place: not opt-in, not opt-out. Literally no one wants this!

You knew exactly what you were doing by opting us in as the default. You said as much with your explanation that nobody would choose to opt in if you hadn’t. That is overtly deceptive and damaging to the trust of your user base, not to mention flat out unethical.

REPOSTING FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES

I DM'd Mary Kish on IG sharing the same sentiments they were mostly ignoring or giving non-answers to during the stream. Her response was simply a link to an article about how Meta is scraping our IG content for AI and we have to opt out. The absolute disrespect and tone deafness to respond to backlash about this with "this other company run by a corrupt billionaire that supports a felonious p3do billionaire does this scummy thing you all don't like, so why are you attacking our company run by a corrupt billionaire that supports a felonious p3do billionaire for doing the same thing?" Their whole stream was a joke, they told blatant lies about how the data isn't going to be sold, and couldn't answer whether all of our content had already been scraped or not prior to us being able to opt out.

Also, I've made the tough decision to no longer stream on Twitch, and am cancelling my subscriptions and Turbo.

AI training without public knowledge or my consent is very unethical and unlawful. Especially when so many young women's bodies and faces are used to train AI to make unconsented media, that is highly sexual without our consent. Remove this feature!

The fact that was put this into our settings and toggled on by default is already a giant red flag! The second fact that we are getting opt in by default because they know we would not want this, but you still make it a thing is another red flag! Ai has its place but in the entertainment world it is a HARD NO for me.

Absolutely no one wants this, Twitch. The overwhelming consensus on AI is flat negative. You would have better odds of finding a vegetarian dog than a streamer who actively consents to this immoral slop, which is why you tried to sneak it through. Your mods know it, your bosses know it, your engineers know it. So for the love of god, and the sake of your platform, stop doing it. Thanks.

1) Gen AI hasn't been around long enough for an industry standard.
2) YouTube, your biggest competitor, is opt-out by default.

The day after you announced this via Twitter and a single stream, you post a big banner about Audible Premium. Why not announce this in the same way?

Until this changes, I've cancelled my Turbo and subscriptions. I'll support creators in other ways, which don't benefit Twitch.

AI OUT, creators and twitch community deserves better!!!

I've been streaming nightly on Twitch since 2014. Put literally over a year of my life live on this platform. To know that Twitch/Amazon is now going to take that year and abuse it to their own ends, to steal my voice for their own ends is a real breach of trust. Opt in, opt out, just the concept itself makes me ill.

This is so disappointing. NO AI!

I've cancelled all my current subscriptions until Twitch either switches to default opt out, or remove data set training entirely, and will instead be supporting Streamers via alternate means.

Generative AI and data scraping has no place in our community and, as is evidenced by the 15k votes as of writing and near-universal backlash online, no one is happy with this decision. Fix this.

So your information said "it's opt in by default because no one would opt in " you already had all your information you needed you knew your awnser and decided to ignore it. Your awnser to the community of twitch is that you don't care . You could of still may Amazon happy with the scrapping and kept your good grace with the community but . If no one want it who are you selling to and why are they buying it. If not to feed the tire fire that is the ai apocalypse melting the earth.

Did you guys learn *nothing* from Meta trying this on Instagram??? Out of all the AI, you try to shove generative at us - a huge group of creatives that already struggle to keep their art/writing/etc. from being stolen as is.

You could be doing anything else. ANYTHING. Make the app a better experience for those who use it 95% of their viewing time. Protect your creators and help further support your variety and smaller creators. This is so tiring and frustrating.
