Make all AI features optional, and opt-out by default.
For any features on Twitch which use AI, allow all creators to opt in or opt out of them individually, and set the default to Opt Out for all new AI features. We as creators should have the choice whether to use AI or not on our channels. If we do not want to use it at all, it's important for us to be able to have that choice, AND for us not to be opted in by default.

Why are my own privacy/security settings overridden if I'm chatting in a creator's chat who has settings different from my own? I have no way to know if my consent is being honored in every chat that I am in due to there being no way to tell which creator's have opted out. Am I supposed to stop chatting in new chats where I don't know the streamer? There's no way for me to ask them if they've turned the setting off without potentially risking my data being used in a way counter to my OWN privacy/security settings. If you are giving us the chance to opt out, that needs to be across the board or at the very least honoring the opt-out signals by default when there are creators and chatters with conflicting settings.
What's going to happen with the game devs who don't want their game content being fed to AI? Are they just out of luck? Even if you allow them to opt out of their game category, that requires streamers to correctly categorize their games, which they often do not. We're allowed to stream these games because devs and IP holders allow what could technically be considered copyright infringement if they weren't feeling particularly favorably towards us or the platform. Are we trying to burn through the goodwill that allows this website to function for 99.99% of gaming streams here?
The stream-together issue also needs to be addressed to default to honoring the opt-out signal when creators have conflicting settings. This was candidly a half-baked roll out and there needed to be forewarning, ANY amount of on-website notification, and better communication. Twitter is not the place news should be dropping, especially as many creators have fully moved off of that platform. As everyone has said, this should have been opt-in, but if it had to be opt-out, there were better ways of rolling it out than this.
Deeply disappointed in y'all and deeply concerned about my own privacy/security settings. This is embarrassing. Do better.

I do not consent to my comments in twitch chat being used for ai training. I think it's disrespectful of the users to pull this over our heads

If you have to admit that no one would use it if it were opt-in, it''s not a feature worthy of even existing in the first place. Remove this, Generative AI, AI scraping, and the legality surrounding it make it a nightmare to begin with, on top of how it's a completely worthless technology that provides nothing of value to anyone, especially not to those who your company pretends to support. Truly embarrassing, do better.

Since I first commented, I discovered that genAI training was pushed through – despite widespread objections. It’s also on by default, evidently in hopes of catching as much free training as possible – and knowing full well that it’s unwanted. In fact, a *Twitch* staff member had this to say about consent on stream:
> "If it was opt-in, nobody would opt in." - Mike Minton, Chief Product OfficerI’d like to remind Twitch that on-by-default does not constitute realistic consent. The bandwagon appeal is also not a valid claim to consent. Twitch knows this, and has been told exhaustively, via many communication channels, many times. This comes on top of Twitch having forcefully cluttered the Channel Points menu, replaced category images with genAI (including Art!), and gutted VOD archives.
Combined with Twitch’s evident disdain for the user base, this pattern is a severe violation of trust. I’ve been on Twitch for nearly seven years, and I’ve personally been seriously reconsidering streaming here. The way to regain users’ trust at this point is to remove the genAI training entirely.

What in the actual f? This is wrong on so many levels. The billions spent on AI is going down the toilet, just leave us alone with this ****, it's so violating.

GenAI sucks, and is unpopular, and companies KNOW this, which is why they have to sneak it in!
Also, wtf is being "trained" on our streams?!

If your "feature" is only on by default because you KNOW and ADMIT that no one would willingly turn it on, then you aren't pushing a feature, you're pushing a scam that relies on people *being tricked* into giving you information and control that they would otherwise never consider doing.
No to training AI on twitch. No opt-in. Please just stop.

Hello? So WHAT does that tell you then?????
NOBODY ASKED FOR IT.
NOBODY WANTS IT.
THEN YOU. DON'T. ADD. IT. SIMPLE AS THAT.
Everyone in their right mind will ALL change it to opt-out.
Effing MORONS need to actually LISTEN to your platform users. -

If you have to sneak in a failing to thrive technology because you know it would be unpopular at absolute best, that should be your sign to not bother with it. This is scummy and not even effective in terms of management. If you really want to test the waters, opt-out by default is the only considerate, intelligent option.

This is so unbelievably unethical to be opt-in by default - way to slap your users in the face and disregard their preferences. AI should ONLY ever be optional, most people are against it, especially anyone that values the art on their channels that THEY paid REAL ARTISTS to make for them. The rights are to these streamers and to the art creators, who neither approve of having AI models learn off of or steal their likeliness to train your AI with. This is actually art theft. I’m ashamed to say I stream on Twitch, and no one I know would consent to their channels being used to train your AI.

The fact that all of my friends are sending each other the link to opt out of the generative AI because we know that none of us wants to be part of this. New features needs to be opted out by default and communicated properly, and this isn't happening since this was attempted to be slipped in.

It's absolutely appaling that you said with your own mouths that the only reason this "feature" was made Opt-In by default was because YOU KNEW that no one would CHOOSE to do it. Made our point for us, didn't you? YOU'RE SO CLOSE to the truth...

"If it was opt in, nobody would do it."
So you know what you're doing is unpopular with the majority of the userbase and you're doing this anyway. Making it Opt-Out by default is the bare minimum for doing this kind of AI scraping BS along with a way to see whose Opt-In to AI for their streams.

Recent polls show that 70-80% of the population is anti-AI in its current implementation and you choose to push this out as ON by default and not announce it to everyone. Doesn't really seem like a decision that cares much about the the customer base you have. If you're not going to pay people to use their content to train AI, it should be opt-out and OFF by default.

Shadow launching this is a show that they know this is unpopular, not wanted, and ethically dubious.
As usual, it should be Opt-Out by default.

I don't even see an alert about this in my Notifications. Basically, any streamers not on the right social media & not watching Patch Notes just won't know to toggle this off. There should be a pop up, or banner, informing streamers of this!!!
Also, the toggle has very limited protections! Do you have unique emotes that you own the rights to? ANY ONE of your subs can use it in the chat of a streamer who hasn't toggled this off, and it'll get thrown in the AI soup.
Chatters who care about not getting scraped will just have to take a streamer's word for it, on whether they have it on or off. The personal consent/control is so nefariously obfuscated.
On top of all this, streamers aren't even *compensated* for feeding their likeness, face, voice, content, and creativity into the machine. That's how much they think you're worth.
