Make all AI features optional, and opt-out by default.
For any features on Twitch which use AI, allow all creators to opt in or opt out of them individually, and set the default to Opt Out for all new AI features. We as creators should have the choice whether to use AI or not on our channels. If we do not want to use it at all, it's important for us to be able to have that choice, AND for us not to be opted in by default.

A breach of trust in entirety. Twitch as an employer, this being on by default is the equivalent of working at a burger joint and your manager just taking your wallet from your back pocket and buying themselves a radio without your permission on your dime and then slipping it back into your pocket. When you ask "Why did you do that?" They would then say something like "Oh well I know if I asked you to buy me a radio you'd say no so I did it anyway." As someone who puts alot of work, time, and energy into my streams this is an insult. It was already bad enough having to resort to alternative platforms to even make a cent and now we are seeing them pull the rope to cram their Ai junk down our throats, stealing from us without consent, and no compensation. I refuse to put up with that any longer. The gall to do all of this while also enforcing copyright for other corporations is insane. The old "Do as I say not as I do" approach. Amazon/Twitch is a soulless corporation. I'm done.

This garbage has taken over my life. And at a time that I've been trying to keep myself drawing after years of depression and slaving away for cooperate shittery. And here I was having considered creating again. It's really disheartening.
You can take your AI and shove it so far you can teach it with your own lack of skill and humility.
Among all the other reasons everyone hates AI, shame on you for even thinking we want you STEALING the creative efforts of those already lining your over stuffed pockets with their hard earned skill, time, and effort. -

Generative AI started out by collecting tons and tons of info from the internet without care for copyrights or other issues. And now all the AI data centers are literally making this planet worse for everything that still tries to live on it.
Twitch forced us into generative AI data collection without notifying us clearly and without giving us a choice beforehand. This can not be how things are done.

No, I would NOT like to hasten the destruction of the planet so that you can make better fake images.
Anything done with our content must be something we actively choose, not something that is decided for us by people who have never seen it and do not care.

AI is a tool often used to steal real artist of their talents and products. To use a tool like this violates many of these hard working people's talents. Many would refuse to use it.
To turn on these features in the background, with little to no warning to those it woudl affect shows a lack of trust to your users and admission that this measure is unpopular by the majority.

I'm not gonna rehash all the reasons people hate AI, it's been covered and you already know what they are.
What you actually care about is the money, and I'm willing to just take it and leave at this point because I'm so sick of this. I'm not the only one.

I cannot stress enough how much this whole debaucle has made me reconsider using Twitch at all.
For them to silently start using my face and likeness to train their AI models, and hide the Opt-Out switch which they have defaulted to Opt-In is nothing short of sinister.
For Mike Minton to reveal that they implemented a feature they knew nobody would like, and purposefully defaulted it to be active in every user's settings in order to combat the fact that they knew nobody would turn it on feels like Twitch is more concerned with tricking their userbase than working with them to provide an enjoyable user experience.
As a smaller Twitch Streamer and Affiliate I am beginning to feel as though Twitch views me as a nuisance, and would rather I not be streaming on their platform at all. -

All Twitch will accomplish by throwing their creators' output into the AI blender is hastening the demise of the platform. It should be painfully clear to anyone who doesn't have a financial stake in the proliferation of AI that _nobody_ wants AI to train on their work.
Many feel so strongly about this that they are prepared to up stakes and move to another platform to feel more secure against the danger of being scraped for AI training, and nobody's going to be ATTRACTED to this site by the prospect of AI training on its creators.
Be smarter than this, Twitch. Stop making decisions like this that can only hurt your business and the prospects of those humans that make you money. AI won't make you money. It'll only burn it, as it's burning money in every other AI company out there.

AI is a very controversial topic.
I personaly do not want to use AI, not participate in AI training or development for the following reasons:- Ecological disaster!!!!!!
- I do not trust the owners of the different AI software to have the best interest of humankind at heart
- AI training lead to copyright infragment, intellectual proprety theft etc
- AI have a dangerous impact on human psyche and can cause psychosis in healthy individual
- AI can be used to brainwash population (intentionally or unintentionally)
- The overabundance of AI fakness on social media and more is atrocious. It make dubt everything I see and disengage with contentI am insisting and asking that Twitch respect the ethical and philosophical wishes of their users, and creators by providing the full capacity of opting out entierly from AI involvement.

AI is the antithesis of creation. as such, it really doesn't belong on a platform like Twitch, unless Twitch isn't about encouraging creations, but feeding a machine that steals from people to output...nothing of value.
while the heading says it's Opt-out by defaut, the reality is the it is set as Opt-in. if that is the intented setting the the Original message is the lie, then is it telling where Twitch stands when it comes to caring about the creative community that has come into being withing it's ecosystem.

Did you mean set it to (having to) opt-in by default? That means consciously choosing for something. Opting means you as the user making a choice.
Having to opt out (being automatically forced into something and choosing to turn it off/withdrawing permission or consent) is the current default. I get the feeling people are using the terms backwards. Unless I'm being dumb, but that's how I understood it forever and after googling 'opting meaning'.
Anyway, supported!

I've been watching streams on twitch since they were justin.tv - but since 2020, like many people, I've been working from home and Twitch has become the source of most of my social activity, as I work from home. My recap says I watched over 7,000 hours in 2025 (do the math.)
Because of this I have twitch turbo so I never see ads, but I also have many subscriptions because I like supporting the work of streamers. Until Amazon/Twitch sends an email to all users to let them know they need to opt out, and lets Streamers and viewers opt out of ALL AI use, I will cancel my monthly subscriptions and instead support on Patreon, Kofi, or Youtube if they have a monetized channel there. It might only be about $50 a month difference for me but let's see how quickly that adds up.
You know we don't want it, you said yourself you know we don't want it and that's why you turned it on by default.Generative AI is not inevitable. It just takes one big company to draw a line in the sand and say NO, we will not feed our 2 most precious resources (humanity and our planet) into the slurry garbage disposal. Unless Twitch/Amazon decides to be that company they're going to continue to lose market share.

The opt-in construct being used is very likely illegal within the EU and could result in fines of up to 4% of Twitch's revenue (not profit, revenue) depending on cooperation with GDPR watchdog agencies. I encourage everyone from the EU who has been impacted by the automatic opt-in to file a complaint with their national GDPR watchdog.

AI goes against everything streaming stands for--it is inherently in fundamental opposition to streamers and content creation, taking the creativity of a streamer and their community and removing the support of the streamer from the process. It is worse than ads without providing compensation, in that it is stealing from the content creator while providing them nothing in compensation.
