1. Advertising with a focus on the arts and entertainment side of the platform.

TWITCH IS A VIABLE OPTION FOR ENTERTAINMENT THAT NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT!

As people emerge from their Covid cocoons, we find ourselves competing more and more with entertainment in the IRL world -- we've lost a lot of viewers, and we're not gaining enough new viewers.

To that end, I wish Twitch would invest a little advertising budget in raising awareness of the non-gaming parts of the Platform. There are so many artists with so much to offer, and so many great communities, but people just don’t know we’re here. I think a large segment of the public would embrace the more personalized, interactive entertainment that we offer on Twitch than the “passive” interactive that TV or Netflix offers.

While we can't necessarily compete with all that's offered in the outside world, there's millions of untapped potential eyeballs who may feel uncomfortable in real life and prefer to stay home, and people who live in more remote areas, as well as people who live in places where the arts aren't as easily eaccessible.

I've met so many amazing people on Twitch, who are just introverted or shy or feel awkward in real-life social situations. These are our people! Let's let them know we're here.

3. Please Add more separation to reruns and actual live channels

Reruns have been killing the asmr section to the point where everything is now reruns. There are a plethora of issues with this one problem, still there are far more than what meets the eye.

The ASMR section was once filled with new live channels (when I started viewing this content was 2 years ago and now it has gone from pretty much all live to less than around 10% live)

This trend has done catastrophic damage to the potential of new creators, I believe there needs to be a major signifier of what is a rerun and what's a live channel. Twitch obviously needs to support new channels to grow the platform.
This system might work under a longer-time solution like YouTube, but this is Twitch. Reruns are a serious problem that needs to be addressed and given its own area. I'm not saying to eliminate it,.. champion actual live streams, the number of people who think a rerun is live is ridiculous, you don't think this is doing harm?

no hate to the team, you have a ton on your plate <3. I love Twitch and I want ya'll to keep really thinking about the bigger picture.

7. following channels jumping away

when I use "show more" in followed channels, every time I hover my mouse away from the list, the first channel added by show more scrolls itself to the top, so I scroll to the top so I can use collapse button, but before I reach it the list scrolls instantly down by itself ( if I use show less then it works fine, but its annoying to shorten the list every time I need to collapse and then when I wanna go to another channel relong it again...

and also, sometimes (dunno when yet) the show more does the same, I hower over the "show more" text and usually click it, and it first jump to totally different place of the list and then pushes the click to join a channel I didnt intend to! and that is also happening repeatedly, so I cannot click "show more" anymore in that case...

8. April Fools' IRL categories are a diss at the valid category creation requests that are being ignored

Twitch has allotted some resources into creating these categories as a joke: "Just Catting", "Sandwiches", "Cowboy Corner", "Inanimate Objects" and "Chores, Odd Jobs and Errands". They had someone spend time and effort brainstorming for their titles and descriptions, artists creating their cards and engineering adding them to the platform. They've proven that it's not hard at all to get it done. Yet, they still refuse to add some much wanted IRL categories that have been requested on this forum. They're ignoring so many of the valid requests that people have suggested and been voting on for so long. Making this move is disrespectful to all those people who've put their energy into making their suggestions. I'll admit the "Chores, Odd Jobs and Errands" category wasn't too bad of an idea since a lot of streamers do this kind of stuff anyway, but all the others were just superfluous. What was also interesting was they all had descriptions for what type of content they could be used for, yet none of the old IRL categories do. They could help streamers choose the correct category for the type of content they're streaming. Cramming everything into "Just Chatting" because streamers are unaware other IRL categories exist or what they can be used for makes it time consuming and difficult for viewers to find the content they're looking for. Streamers need to break away from "Just Chatting" and stop using gaming categories for IRL content.

The new Twitch leadership has made commendable efforts to understand the content creation / streaming culture and it's very much appreciated. Please also make an effort to take your viewers' feedback into account more. Just like streamers are like your employees, viewers are like your customers.

Question for Twitch: What did you gain out of adding these silly temporary categories as a joke and what would you have to lose by adding those much wanted permanent categories if it's so easy to do it?

UPDATE : Since these temporary categories were removed, "Just Catting" has been brought back and made official. This category is super redundant and irrelevant with the existence of "Animals, Aquariums and Zoos". Not even the channel who inspired the name is using it and is still in "Just Chatting".

10. Design

    Dear Twitch team,
I love using your platform for streaming and watching my favorite creators, but I noticed that there isn't currently a category for design content. As a designer myself and a fan of design streams, I think it would be really useful to have a dedicated category for this type of content. It would make it easier for viewers to discover new design streams and for designers to connect with their audience.

Please consider adding a "design" category to the platform. I have no doubt that it would be warmly welcomed by the design community and would greatly benefit both creators and viewers. Thank you for your consideration.

    Sincerely,
    The Entire Design World.

    Thanks!

11. Differenciate two games that share the same name

Hi friends! Is there a way to differentiate two games called "Copycat" and "CopyCat" in categories? One is coming in 2024, other is listed as 2019 but unreleased, yet both links take me to the page of an unreleased "CopyCat" game instead of the new one.

Every time I go on Twitch lately out of the 3 "channels we think you'll like" there is always at least 1 softcore ****/onlyfan streamer. I block one channel a day...

I don't want to see ***** and ***** on my front page! It's shameless! I get that it might happen sometime but it used to be pretty rare. Now it's recommended to me on a daily basis!!!! What is up with that?!!!

The Digimon Card Game is BOOMING! We are a fairly large and ever expanding community of competitive, hungry, and entertaining players/content creators that showcase this game on a daily basis. Although niche, we are the epitome of what it means to be a community. We will specifically need a category on twitch called: Digimon Card Game

Examples of streamers that show the love and content of this game would be:

    twitch.tv/maxtapera
    twitch.tv/truechampionsteven
    twitch.tv/mariogamingworld
    twitch.tv/benjaminlee

I think it would be neat if Twitch allowed affiliates and partners to give away 1 free sub a month. Neither the streamer nor the platform would make money off of this. Just like one freebee to give a community member for a month. Could be fun engagement with community and give back in a tiny way.

19. Platform Growth

There is around 7,800,000 streamers a month on Twitch active and only 0.01% are I'd say personally prioritised.

    If you have;
5 viewers on your stream, you are in the top 30%.
10 viewers on your stream, you are in the top 15%.
250 viewers puts you at the top 1%

How come there is still no way of someone with 5 viewers or around that number to grow organically?

I'd love to see a program that incentivises small streamers to grow, ways to get more reach, someone can sit at 2 viewers for 5 years but can become so popular over night from another platform, not even on Twitch.

If small streamers have more discoverability, Amazon would make even more money, so why not do it?

I'm not saying by any means promote every small streamer, but promote the ones that are putting in the work, quality streams, web cam or no web cam.

If the chat is moving with unique viewers, they should be pushed up more.

Also would be nice to see a 9:16 mobile view feature so it's much easier for mobile users as 9/10 the viewer is on a mobile. Just like TikTok for example.
Maybe incentivise that to streamers if they do well they get access to a dual encoder for Desktop/Mobile views.

20. "Just Chatting" Is NOT Enough!--Need Categories For Other Creative IRL Streamers (Actors, Voice Actors, Live Readers, Creative Writers, etc)

We need more specific options that's not "Just Chatting." ---and tags for them don't always work.

Since for many communities... especially for tiny ones, vtuber streamers, and/or female streamers owned ones.
This category is EASY troll, bots, and cyber bully bait.---

Had plenty of those in my channel due to being tiny community and "female owned."
(Even if I'm not on camera and I don't have the tag saying "female" "woman" Etc. related--- Just because of my u/n and my voice)

Also "Just Chatting" is way to vague... I get if you're talking about certain topics.

(Shout out also to suggestion to "deleting followers" because of reasons like that. Since banning them doesn't do anything since they can still view your content.)

But If you're doing something like acting, voice acting, or general live reading/reading aloud

(reading script you're practicing, a news article, a story, a comic (whether or not it's your own).
Not only is it more specific, but it might gain people who actually might want to watch the streamer.

As a live reading and voice actor streamer... And from seeing others who had streams similar in mine.

It's kinda awkward when getting shouted out when you're category is "just chatting."
When a stream aren't "just chatting" about something (a certain topic). Streamers normally assume at first "oh hey so what were you chatting about?"
And then when the answer isn't a "just chatting" norm. It's like "oh... So that's cool."
    Then usually it'll ends there...

Unless you get the rare case where the streamer will ask what it was about.--Whether or not they see it after that depends.

Unless it's a streamer that you may at times have raided often who knows what you do for "just chatting" streams.

(which thankfully is a few on my end and some even have agreed with me (viewers included) that there should be a category for channels that aren't "just chatting.")

Also I've seen some "Just Chatting" streamers when they raid get brushed off... So it's off putting.--I experienced this many times and seen it.

I've even called out a streamer for not being respectful about it. But the streamer had timed out since I was being "rude" to them.

Also tag don't work when it comes to when you raid someone either... Also sometimes when someone new comes into your channel.

They may be confused on why your not "Just Chatting."--have had that happened on my channel many times.

You have an IRL Creative category each for art, crafting, food, software, body art, and music streams...

So why not ones specifically for acting/voice acting, live reading, and maybe even creative writing.
They are all should have their own IRL Creative category(s) that should be taken into account.

(Seriously I got excited to see there was a category for "voice over" to find out it was for an indie game. And not a category for voice actors/actresses/overs.
Same with "writing" being steam game... not a category for writers... "Reading" is also a game apparently not an )

Oh and PLEASE DON'T even think about conjoining all creative as one category.

That'll be just looked at as lazy and not caring about each individual creative based streamers'.
Same goes for deleting any of them and even "just chatting."

I praise the Twitch streaming platform since I know you do hear us out. Not to mention it's a bit easier to become a paid streamer.

Especially when it comes to your only choice for a category as an actor (including voice overs/actors/actresses and/or live readers) is "Just Chatting."

    (Shout out also to… more
