  1. When a entry is "deleted" in favor of a duplicate.

Send a update for and update both entries.

The old/dead entry, remove all data (consider the remove optional) and add a

    replaced_by: new_id

    entry.

The new entry is updated with an existed_as which is an array of "old id's" that have been merged into the record

  2. Currently, the basic search algorithm on IGDB seems to value popularity over anything -- even the title of the game being searched.
When I searched for "Persona 2", it being a 2-part game, the games "Persona 2: Innocent Sin" and "Persona 2: Eternal Punishment" appear as the 16th and 19th entries down the list respectively, while "Persona 5", by dar the most popular game in the series, showed up first.
The algorithm needs to prioritize the search input much more than it currently does, as the current system renders inputting sequel or series entry numbers (2, 5 etc.) quite useless.

  3. Specifically for PC games, this website gives info on how to get games running correctly and well, with patches such as widescreen support and workarounds to DRMs. For many older games, the information on this website is essential to get the game running correctly. Thanks!

  4. Add language options as games data, according to the release (each platform and region may have different language options).

  5. When Bundles include titles of a long running series, it is possible to encounter times that have too many titles to display with the basic name.

    Ex. Mega Man (1).

  6. Add information about if a game is on/included in a subscription service.

Such as gamepass or stadia (included with the stadia sub)

And if a removal date exists (as games will leave gamepass)

  7. The EAN on the back of packages are a unique way to identify different versions of games. This could help to find details about a game and revision.

  8. Instead of using random algorithm for similar games on IGDB pages. Make users enable recommend games based on their review. See MyAnimeList for the implementation. Its something like this :

If you like [Insert game title], then you can try this based on users recommendation and similar theme.

  9. Several games have interesting or obscure caveats in terms of their release or their playability, and it's worth mentioning them for the sake of completeness. For example, Donkey Kong Junior is listed as a Gameboy Advance release, which is technically correct, but it was only playable via the e-Reader, which is not obvious. Additionally, Donkey Kong Junior also exists as a playable game within Game and Watch Gallery 3 and 4, which may technically not count as a release but deserves mentioning somewhere. There are several examples of games with unique scenarios like this, and this data doesn't really have…

Hey! This is excellent, we ourselves have been wanting Triva data for a long time. Although this isn’t a high priority data it would offer a lot in terms of general knowledge.

However this is a difficult data to handle, as verifying it can be quite difficult and time consuming. Eventually we will revisit the concept and see what options we can come up with to faciliate this.

Leaving this ticket open if other users have suggestions, such as sources of gaming trivia that could be researched.

    Thanks!

  10. My idea is simple; adding GameFAQ pages to the possible website additions on the website. This will allow people easy access to both answers to questions they might have regarding the game as well as a walkthrough if needed.

  11. Many companies exist on the site under two or more names, with a number of games attributed to each of the various forms of their name. A procedure to flag and combine these disparate developer and publisher listings under a single company name would allow this data to be cleaned up and made more useful.

  12. Ability to add game-specific controllers/accessories to their page. For example the guitar in guitar hero games, the camera with Eyetoy games, the dance mat for DDR games and so on. Along with the option to set whether the item is mandatory or not.

  13. This goes slightly with the request for alternate cover options for titles, it would be helpful if various regional titles displayed beneath the main page titles, rather than a small subtext at the bottom of the page.

    Example:
    Title: Fatal Frame (NA)
Subtitle: Also known as: 零 (Zero - JP), Project Zero (EU)

  14. As it stands, there is a lot of confusion and mixed up data between Collections and Franchises, all relating to the series in which a game belongs. Some games will be within a collection without a franchise, while other series titles such as "Legend of Zelda" has 2 different database ID's for its collection and its franchise.

Because of these differences, it's hard to utilise the series distinction in searches, as it might be in one category or the other, or both. If both are merged, there would be a more consistent way of determining a "series", with many games…

  15. Just a button on IGDB to go to a random game in the database. Maybe you can set a date frame or different filters to it but in general a button to show a random game would be awesome.

    Hey!

This is a good suggestion thank you! This has been discussed a couple of times in the past. We can’t promise any ETA on such a feature but it would be interesting to investigate.

Our main concerns so far would be what can be included is random: should it have filters, should it be games on all platforms or only selected ones, all age ratings etc..

If you have more ideas or specifics that always helps, we’ll leave this ticket open meanwhile!
    Thank you!

  16. I find filtering options missing in the results of the Karma Hunters sections.

For example to be able to filter in the section "Missing Covers" by platform, or in the section "Under 25% Information" by "Empty developer", "Empty Publisher", etc ..

Having these filtering options would make easy, and also would encourage users, to fill in missing information

  17. Another release region request. Generally these will almost always be included in a general North American [NA] release, but there are rare exceptions.

    God of War Saga
(known as God of War Omega Collection in Latin America, released November 20, 2012 and released as a 3 disc bundle instead of 2)

  18. By showing the version title, it would be easier to know which version is which for games with the same name in different versions. It could be shown in front of the release date.

  19. Noting the [CN] China region as well as [KR] Korea, but it is worth adding that releasing in mainland China is and has been EXCEPTIONALLY difficult for western publishers, which is why most devs have historically opted to release in [HK] Honk Kong or [TW] Taiwan and let those sales be an "in" to the region.

This is interesting, so even though TW or HK release are a way to enter the Mainland market, they are actually different? in terms of content and/or release dates?

Sounds like we need to investigate this further.
If you happen to have example of some titles please share them in a comment in here as that would help.

    Thanks!

  20. I've noticed a large number of my games have no critic rating in gog due to gog using igdb for their database.

There also appears to be no way of adding critic reviews or flagging a game as requiring them?

Would it be possible to have this feature and perhaps provide a link to another website that has documented them to speed up the process? This way they can still be vetted by yourselves.
