Currently, the basic search algorithm on IGDB seems to value popularity over anything -- even the title of the game being searched.
When I searched for "Persona 2", it being a 2-part game, the games "Persona 2: Innocent Sin" and "Persona 2: Eternal Punishment" appear as the 16th and 19th entries down the list respectively, while "Persona 5", by dar the most popular game in the series, showed up first.
The algorithm needs to prioritize the search input much more than it currently does, as the current system renders inputting sequel or series entry numbers (2, 5 etc.) quite useless.14 votes
Hey! We’re in the progress of making some updates to our search technology.
Import Previously Entered Data from Full Title entries into DLC/Addons, Bundles, Expansions, Versions etc.
Something that can become rather repetitive and even prevent users from adding all the Add-ons for a given title is repetitively entering the same data points over and over.
It would be extremely helpful if you set an entry to be an Addon, Expansion, Version or other relevant entry to copy all data relevant data from the original title.
- Categorization fields
- Company fields
- Age Ratings

Hey! Excellent suggestion, in fact we have something very similar in our Backlog already, with a ‘inherit data from parent’ feature.
It’s just at an idea stage for now, but we’ll look into planning in in accordance with our roadmap as soon as possible.
When a entry is "deleted" in favor of a duplicate.
Send a update for and update both entries.

Add more external game sources
- uplay / uplay connect
Add more website sources
- uplay / uplay connect
Yes absolutely this is planned. While External Games and External Websites are separate they are closely related and may tackle them together.
For External Games this will be a big focus for us going forward.
Add language options as games data, according to the release (each platform and region may have different language options).10 votes
Instead of using random algorithm for similar games on IGDB pages. Make users enable recommend games based on their review. See MyAnimeList for the implementation. Its something like this :
If you like [Insert game title], then you can try this based on users recommendation and similar theme.10 votes
Allow a link to a theme song (or theme songs) for a game. For example a direct link to a song.

Heya! This could indeed be interesting, however there’s a lot of possible legal investigation to look into when it comes to music copyrights.
In the short term it’s hard to say how we could approach this. Long term we of course would love to expand our data and game info with music, sounds like an obvious fit!
Add information about if a game is on/included in a subscription service.
Such as gamepass or stadia (included with the stadia sub)
And if a removal date exists (as games will leave gamepass)9 votes
Specifically for PC games, this website gives info on how to get games running correctly and well, with patches such as widescreen support and workarounds to DRMs. For many older games, the information on this website is essential to get the game running correctly. Thanks!9 votes
Many companies exist on the site under two or more names, with a number of games attributed to each of the various forms of their name. A procedure to flag and combine these disparate developer and publisher listings under a single company name would allow this data to be cleaned up and made more useful.9 votes
When Bundles include titles of a long running series, it is possible to encounter times that have too many titles to display with the basic name.

Hey! bundle dropdown has been fixed.
Versions will follow up next :)
I noticed that there are so many Minecraft categories but none from the Minecraft Bedrock edition.
In general, this is my suggestion. An extra category for the Minecraft Bedrock edition. I'm from the Minecraft Bedfrock edition scene and because there is no category for which many of my colleagues stream Minecraft Bedrock edition only on YouTube and not on Twitch. It is even often said that the Minecraft Bedrock edition would not be wanted on Twitch and something like that. And I think something should change so that another community can find its place on Twitch.8 votes
The EAN on the back of packages are a unique way to identify different versions of games. This could help to find details about a game and revision.8 votes
Add new category.
Called "AOFrost" since it is an independent development of another game, called "Argentum Online" that already has its category.

Several games have interesting or obscure caveats in terms of their release or their playability, and it's worth mentioning them for the sake of completeness. For example, Donkey Kong Junior is listed as a Gameboy Advance release, which is technically correct, but it was only playable via the e-Reader, which is not obvious. Additionally, Donkey Kong Junior also exists as a playable game within Game and Watch Gallery 3 and 4, which may technically not count as a release but deserves mentioning somewhere. There are several examples of games with unique scenarios like this, and this data doesn't really have a section where it could easily be integrated. Furthermore, some games have memes or cultural phenomena around them which also lacks a section. A trivia section to serve as a catch-all for data like this would be great, so long as said trivia can be cited and verified.

Hey! This is excellent, we ourselves have been wanting Triva data for a long time. Although this isn’t a high priority data it would offer a lot in terms of general knowledge.
However this is a difficult data to handle, as verifying it can be quite difficult and time consuming. Eventually we will revisit the concept and see what options we can come up with to faciliate this.
Leaving this ticket open if other users have suggestions, such as sources of gaming trivia that could be researched.
Sometimes users may not log onto the site for a time, while there may be pending questions from Admins that may require feedback or clarification to get approved.
Having the ability to enable Email Notifications for new comments on pending entries could help notify users in a more convenient way.7 votes
Hey! There is very much a need for this absolutely. However it wouldn’t be a simple implementation at this point of time.
We’ll definitely stay in touch when we proceed forward!
My idea is simple; adding GameFAQ pages to the possible website additions on the website. This will allow people easy access to both answers to questions they might have regarding the game as well as a walkthrough if needed.7 votes
The element used for browsing lists of games that fit a certain page’s criteria (e.g. game engine pages, category/keyword pages, franchise pages) sometimes does not display the pagination, preventing users from seeing any games beyond the first 10 shown. Changing the sort mode can allow you to see a different slice of 10 games, thus verifying that there should be additional pages visible.
Heya! Indeed definitely a bug, we’ve added this into our backlog and will look at a fix as soon as possible.
Ability to add game-specific controllers/accessories to their page. For example the guitar in guitar hero games, the camera with Eyetoy games, the dance mat for DDR games and so on. Along with the option to set whether the item is mandatory or not.7 votes
This goes slightly with the request for alternate cover options for titles, it would be helpful if various regional titles displayed beneath the main page titles, rather than a small subtext at the bottom of the page.
