http://retroachievements.org/ is a platform which provides achievements for retro games running in emulators, Currently there are only achievement categories for Steam, PSN and Xbox.
If we had a RetroAchievements category we could add achievements to thousands of games which may never have achievement's otherwise. It would be very cool for things like GOG Galaxy 2.0 integration plugins5 votes
This is interesting for sure, we would have to look into it. One thing that comes to mind is whether or not those achievement lists are official, or approved by the original developer/publisher, as this could prove tricky from an IP perspective. Since we would redistribute the data, we’re very careful about the source and provenance.
We’ll be looking into this internally first. Thanks!
I was thinking about how to increase the amount of user reviews and interactivity between members and think this may be the best solution. Right now there is a section for recently reviewed games, but that doesn't seem to be showing user reviews? (Clicking on most items returns nothing, may be recently rated?) This would give more incentive to leave reviews which would appear on the front page for a short amount of time. Could be as simple as Game Cover art, reviewer name and rating, with a link to the game page, a more advanced method would be to link to the review itself.

By showing the version title, it would be easier to know which version is which for games with the same name in different versions. It could be shown in front of the release date.4 votes
Noting the [CN] China region as well as [KR] Korea, but it is worth adding that releasing in mainland China is and has been EXCEPTIONALLY difficult for western publishers, which is why most devs have historically opted to release in [HK] Honk Kong or [TW] Taiwan and let those sales be an "in" to the region.4 votes
This is interesting, so even though TW or HK release are a way to enter the Mainland market, they are actually different? in terms of content and/or release dates?
Sounds like we need to investigate this further.
If you happen to have example of some titles please share them in a comment in here as that would help.
The element used for browsing lists of games that fit a certain page’s criteria (e.g. game engine pages, category/keyword pages, franchise pages) sometimes does not display the pagination, preventing users from seeing any games beyond the first 10 shown. Changing the sort mode can allow you to see a different slice of 10 games, thus verifying that there should be additional pages visible.
Heya! Indeed definitely a bug, we’ve added this into our backlog and will look at a fix as soon as possible.
The 'follow' attribute for a game is never returned from the API.
For example, I would expect the following query to return "follows": 466 (as per the website).
fields name, follows, hypes;
where name ~ "last of us: part";
Instead, I get:
"name": "The Last of Us: Part II"4 votesAdminIGDB (Admin, Twitch) responded
Hey there, we don’t actively support Follows (and Hype) as a data point. We need to update our documentation to reflect this, apologies.
Follow is part of the private endpoint we are sunsetting.
Multiple selectable choices which defines what kind of distribution the game have:
– Physical media: big box, jewel case only, DVD, paper sleeve etc.

Display the user rating you rated for games in lists; would be easier to see which ones you have rated.4 votes
Ability to add game-specific controllers/accessories to their page. For example the guitar in guitar hero games, the camera with Eyetoy games, the dance mat for DDR games and so on. Along with the option to set whether the item is mandatory or not.4 votes
Company logos change with time and many of them do drastic changes. Suggestion to be able to upload more than 1 logo as well as date input accompanying logos.
Also have a nice logo picture timeline where each logo has a 'from' and 'to' date associated.4 votes
This goes slightly with the request for alternate cover options for titles, it would be helpful if various regional titles displayed beneath the main page titles, rather than a small subtext at the bottom of the page.
Title: Fatal Frame (NA)
Subtitle: Also known as: 零 (Zero - JP), Project Zero (EU)4 votes
(Confirmed in the Pipeline)
After confirming a duplicate listing for deletion, it would be helpful to users that have saved those titles by Following, Saving to Lists or to Played listings to forward those links to the correct page, rather than the "Oops" broken link.4 votes
So shedding some more light onto this.
While we are going to be working on a proper way to remove ‘bad pages, and duplicates’, this project is likely going to come in several phases.
The initial phase is removing the pages form the site, and stop syncing them with the API.
The later phase would be us building tools to automatically swap the game IDs on lists, reviews, etc.. which would take care of this.
Often when entering different Themes, Game-types, and/or Genres to define or classify a title, it is often up to the Editor's personal definition to what entails each category. Some may feel a "Shooter" only means FPS, others may include Shmups, or anything that fires a gun like Mega Man.
It would be very helpful to have a defined definition for each category display when entering each one into a Edit page by hovering your mouse pointer over the entry.4 votes
So, we actually used to have Tool Tips on our game edits, specifically for the Franchise and Series field.
This feature broke at some point during our infrastructure migration post-acquisition, and disabled it.
Now, we absolutely would like to bring this back indeed, and expand to more fields. As we are not constantly adding new data points and are putting a big focus right now on our contribution tools this is an excellent suggestion.
We’ll take a look at the best places to implement them!
Currently, only actual Bundle pages appear to display titles included. It would be helpful if those individual titles also displayed the collections and bundles they are included in.4 votes
Add Brazil and UK region for game release dates, because there are games released specificaly for those regions. Mainly Brazil, because there the Master System and Zeebo consoles have many Brazil only games released.4 votes
Instead of using random algorithm for similar games on IGDB pages. Make users enable recommend games based on their review. See MyAnimeList for the implementation. Its something like this :
If you like [Insert game title], then you can try this based on users recommendation and similar theme.4 votes
When using a reference ID field, such as requesting https://api.igdb.com/v4/games/ where release_dates.platform [48,49,6]; as shown in an example in the API docs, the API returns a syntax error "You are trying to compare and exact array with an non array field: platform". This seems to be true of any field which is a reference ID when using this syntax. the array OR syntax (48,49,6) works fine.3 votes
Currently, the basic search algorithm on IGDB seems to value popularity over anything -- even the title of the game being searched.
When I searched for "Persona 2", it being a 2-part game, the games "Persona 2: Innocent Sin" and "Persona 2: Eternal Punishment" appear as the 16th and 19th entries down the list respectively, while "Persona 5", by dar the most popular game in the series, showed up first.
The algorithm needs to prioritize the search input much more than it currently does, as the current system renders inputting sequel or series entry numbers (2, 5 etc.) quite useless.3 votes
I find filtering options missing in the results of the Karma Hunters sections.
For example to be able to filter in the section "Missing Covers" by platform, or in the section "Under 25% Information" by "Empty developer", "Empty Publisher", etc ..
Having these filtering options would make easy, and also would encourage users, to fill in missing information3 votes
A dedicated IGDB mobile app would be great however I would settle for your website to be better mobile optimized.3 votes
We actually used to have apps, but our (IGDB) team is quite small we decided to terminate them as we couldn’t guarantee high quality support for them. We don’t plan to refocus on apps until we can guarantee that seal of quality again.
However we do plan on revisiting and improving our mobile site before then!
Stay tuned :)
