How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

If you need help:

Appeals or commentary on suspension decisions, support requests, suggestions disparaging others, and non-constructive feedback will be closed without comment.

  2. Currently under "Release Dates", users need to hover over the platform name to see other release dates in other regions. It would be an improvement to list all the dates and regions without the need to hover, so you can see the info at a glance. Additionally it would be nice if listed in historical order.

  3. Right now is only possible to set a game as a remake of a single game, due to this games like the 'Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy'are set as a bundle of the PS1 trilogy instead of a remake of the trilogy.

The same problem happens with games like 'Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei I-II' which is a remake of Megami Tensei 1 & 2, but due to this is only set as a remake of the first Megami Tensei.

  4. It's sometimes useful to note things down for private use (like why you added a game to the wishlist), that wouldn't fit into the review section.

This could be either in list view or game view.

  5. Right now character data is linked to their respective voice actors, which is linked to the game credits, the thing is game credits is a feature quite forgotten at this point, and also not all characters have voice actors, would be possible to make us link and create character data for each game without needing to add the game's whole credits?

Something like a new "Characters" section in a game page.
And being able to create and link characters entries in games.

    Something like this:

  6. It would be a better way of showing which games have been played and which have ratings skewed by less amount of plays.

  7. Some games share additional content such as DLC, Expansions, Packs/Addons, Updates, Seasons, and Mods with ports of their game or sequels. While this would be a limited specific use case it will allow content pages to be shared between titles and limiting duplicates.

A great example is Minecraft. The latest update for Minecraft, the 1.19 Wild Update appears twice on IGDB. Once for the original Minecraft: Java Edition and another for the port Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. These two pages contain the same content and there isn't much of a reason for it to be separate.

    Java: https://www.igdb.com/games/minecraft-the-wild-update
    Bedrock: https://www.igdb.com/games/minecraft-the-wild-update--1

  8. A bit of a smaller suggestion, but I think it's a pretty vital one. The storyline description functions as a hook of sorts that attracts players to the game, just as much as the Description and Screenshot sections. I find it counterintuitive that the storyline is buried all the way to the bottom of the page... it should be more visible, in my opinion. i.e. both physical game boxes and game pages on online storefronts like PSN or Steam have game descriptions, storyline descriptions , and images all located close together because they're all important aspects to pull gamers in.

  9. It would be cool if the date the game was published was also in the game info card, next to the little text blurb summary.

  10. I think other categories for covers aside from Region-localization should be added.

Such as whether it's Digital or Physical (since game covers can differ between a physical box or the digital gamestore, i.e. PSN/xbox store/etc, even though it seems to be a fairly rare occurence).

Maybe even being able to say what console(s) a specific cover is for, which is helpful for some cases, such as games that might have different covers for re-releases across different generations of platforms (which also seems rare, but it does happen, i.e. the Devil May Cry HD collection has different covers for its ps3/xbox360…

  11. This one is pretty self explanatory - having a dedicated image category to reserve for game manuals. While it would be incredible to have a method of flipping through the images like a book, just attaching a PDF would still certainly be better than nothing. It's a definitely overlooked but essential piece of preserving game information, and it would be great to have it here.

  12. I think that while it's great that contributers can add a label to each image, it would vastly improve the image database if there were dedicated sections/categories to put specific types of images, and therefore allow specific categories of images to be called and viewed. Some databases such as MobyGames (ex. https://www.mobygames.com/game/ps2/silent-hill-2/cover-art) and screenscraper (ex. https://www.screenscraper.fr/gameinfos.php?gameid=5441&action=onglet&zone=gameinfosmedias) have such categories, and I think that having dedicated sections to put images such as rear cover, CD labels, spines, logos and Title Screens would be an extremely important part of preserving game information, especially older physical titles. I know it's a…

  15. Since people aren't going to automatically know what this is and won't necessarily want to go digging and researching it, why not just title it properly?

  17. Please add the game Hyakki Demons World of Demons to your games category.
I want more people to know about this wonderful game. The guidelines from the officials also give us permission to distribute it. Thank you for your consideration.

containing only 10 genres but many /games have genre ids that are not listed in said endpoint.

  20. I've come across a few videogame categories that should be merged together. First are duplicate categories for the same game:

    • "Digimon Battle" and "Digimon RPG" are the same game, the latter being the title of the current English release.
    • "Digimon World 2003" and "Digimon World 3" refer to the same game; the title change was a region difference. Should merge and rename to "Digimon World 3 / Digimon World 2003".
    • There are two categories named "Digimon" when I search for them, one with a cover and one without, not sure if that's a bug or something that needs to be…
