How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

  1. It would be nice if the endpoint multiplayer modes provides a boolean "isGameOnline" and "isGameOffline" (or something like that), showing if the game is entirely offline, entirely online or the both. For example, Dark Souls can be played online or offline, so the parameters will be set to "true". Cuphead, for example, would have the first parameter set to “false” and the second as "true" because the game does not offer a way to play online. I'm sure this simple parameter can be extremely useful!

  2. I've noticed several games (it seems largely this happens with games that used to be one single entry but got split into a main game and ports) where the main game entry reports several platforms via the API that it no longer has in the web interface. If you go into try to change it, it seems to believe that only the single main platform is actually listed, but the API reports all of the platforms that had previously been associated with the game. A really good example is pulling the info for this game via the API:

  3. When trying to pull this game via the API, several items are blank including the game's name:
    https://www.igdb.com/games/dragon-knight-4

    IGDB's API response:

    {
    "msg": "success",
    "roms": [
    {
    "igdbid": 45959,
    "slug": "",
    "name": "",
    "summary": "",
    "url
    cover": "https://images.igdb.com/igdb/image/upload/t_cover_big/co4o3m.jpg",
    "urlscreenshots": [
    "https://images.igdb.com/igdb/image/upload/t
    original/sc8wdv.jpg",
    "https://images.igdb.com/igdb/image/upload/t_original/sc8wdu.jpg",
    "https://images.igdb.com/igdb/image/upload/t_original/sc8wdw.jpg",
    "https://images.igdb.com/igdb/image/upload/t_original/scgoiw.jpg",
    "https://images.igdb.com/igdb/image/upload/t_original/scgoix.jpg"
    ]
    }
    ]
    }

    Unfortunately, I've noticed this isn't the only game that does this- but is definitely an example of it.

  4. While Demos are not permitted as entries, a "Demo Available" Data Point would be something that could help guide traffic to titles they can try before they buy.

  5. While you can enter something into entries in Keywords, and the Guidelines require a title to have completed the funded stage of any crowdfunding effort, it would be nice to include a Data Points on a title being started in a crowdfunded effort such as a checkbox of a title was funded this way. Or, a Release/Status date that you could denote the date in which it was funded.

    It would also be helpful to link the original funding pages like Kickstarter, Indigogo, and others.

  6. I'm not sure if this is the right category to report website bugs such as this one, but I recently noticed the "default" sorting orders of my custom lists aren't showcased properly on the downloadable CSV, but the public page will be sorted ok and correctly numbered.

    Thanks in advance!

  7. The popular category 'Games + Demo's' currently has missing cover art.

    I reached out to the IGDB team and they said "As these specific categories are directly handled by Twitch and generally handled internally, it would best be submitted to their UserVoice" with that being said, I would like to submit a piece of Cover Art for approval for the category.

    As I can't attach a photo, here are my two submissions (I prefer option 2):

    1) https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GBw7CcibkAA7a85?format=jpg&name=small (Alternative link: https://imgur.com/Fl9OeNW)

  8. As I make changes to entries on existing titles in the database, the Karma Hunters Contributions listing focuses on entries that are Missing Covers or box art entirely. This omits entries that have been uploaded from Steam that display in 600x900 and do not adhere to the 3:4 ratio that would display in the Twitch category. It would be great to see a global breakdown of those that are in error so they can be addressed by the community.

  9. I find it a bit disappointing that IGDB does not allow users to change their username, display name, and profile picture unlike over on Twitch. While such features might not seem important for a database site, adding such would benefit users who may not be comfortable continuing to use an identity they no longer go by. Providing such features, even in the form of just resyncing a user's Twitch account with their updated information, would also allow users to keep their karma score instead of having to start from scratch by making a whole separate account just to use a…

  10. There are multiple regional languages that aren't available as options when adding new localizations for a game.

    I'm Spanish, and in our country alone we have several smaller regional languages, some of which are in danger of becoming extinct - and none of them have any presence in IGDB yet.

    There are several initiatives that push for those languages to be brought into the modern era and, as such, many people are doing an enormous amount of work in order to localize as many games as possible to our languages, officially or otherwise.

    It would help us out a lot…

  12. When using the "games" endpoint w/ the python igdb-api-v4 wrapper, the query used to get the age ratings covers (ESRB, PEGI, etc) should be "ageratings.ratingcover_url" but it never succeeds in providing the cover url, but it also never returns an error saying the information isn't available or that the query was structured wrong.

    Here's my full example I'm using (so far) that doesn't produce a result:

    # This is in python3
    wrapper.api_request(
            "games",
            'search "'
            + game_name
            + """\";
            f id, name, first_release_date, age_ratings.rating_cover_url, cover.url, platforms.name;
            limit 20;
            where first_release_date != null;
            """

    All the other "data.thing"s work…

  14. Played the game? No = skip to next, Yes = rate and confirm to proceed to the next.
    I don't want to search one by one the 400 games i've played. If you guys can make it personalized based on games already rated, even better.

  15. Right now on Twitch, if you search for "Master of Orion", which is a 4-games franchise, you can't find the most recent one from 2016, because it shares the same name as the first one.

    Can you please fix this? Either call the new one "Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars", or add a (2016) at the end. Or rename the first one "Master of Orion I".

    That would fix it. Otherwise, can't find the most recent one.

    Thanks.

  16. Currently, there isn't an option to select Streets of Rage 3 as a playable game on Twitch. I was watching another streamer trying to select it today, but it wasn't available, so when others joined the stream, they were confused because they thought they were playing Streets of Rage 2, but in fact they had moved on to playing Streets of Rage 3.

  17. I did a quick advanced search of games, which I wanted to share with my freind. But the URL does not display any filtering. It would be cool if we could click share link and it would create a link I can give to him so it shows him my filtered list. The only work around I have is to screenshot the page and send him the image.

  19. Would be great to navigate the database of a Plataform letter by letter, like Gamefaqs website, is a chore to manually reach the page of a plataform if you are seeing the games starting with M for example.

    Thanks would be much appreciated!!
