  1. Many games have chapters, which could be listed here potentially alongside a time to beat for each chapter since games can have 30 minute chapters or 2 hour chapters. This would help people get general ideas of where they are in the game, or simply compare playtime by chapter.

  2. Currently, when titles do not have an included Screenshot, the highlighted backdrop of the page displays a green background color. While I'm sure this is intentional in order to entice users to always be sure to add one, there isn't really anything that communicates this is what caused the green background. Further from an aesthetic point of view, it highly clashes with the purple "theme" of Twitch/IGDB.

As a suggestion, Twitch channels that don't include a background image will display a repeating pattern of the user's name. Or, an icon to signify a broken image to tell users to add…

  3. I find filtering options missing in the results of the Karma Hunters sections.

For example to be able to filter in the section "Missing Covers" by platform, or in the section "Under 25% Information" by "Empty developer", "Empty Publisher", etc ..

Having these filtering options would make easy, and also would encourage users, to fill in missing information

  4. I think System requirements tables based on official minimum and recommendations specs for PC games is very useful and important. It's a must have feature that will be used by a lot of users! :)

  5. When trying to tag my stream as the game Sonic the Hedgehog (the 2006/2007 game for Xbox 360 and PS3), it is impossible to tag in any list or drop down, be it Twitch, Twitch Studio, OBS, Streamlabs, etc. I see that the game is on IGDB, so why doesn't the game ever show up?

  6. Currently, the basic search algorithm on IGDB seems to value popularity over anything -- even the title of the game being searched.
When I searched for "Persona 2", it being a 2-part game, the games "Persona 2: Innocent Sin" and "Persona 2: Eternal Punishment" appear as the 16th and 19th entries down the list respectively, while "Persona 5", by dar the most popular game in the series, showed up first.
The algorithm needs to prioritize the search input much more than it currently does, as the current system renders inputting sequel or series entry numbers (2, 5 etc.) quite useless.

  7. As some reviews age, some sites can go out of business or just shut down. However there doesn't appear to be an automatic way the database removes or reports broken links or updates scores as they go away. Additionally, some of these will push scores averages down if they continue to inaccurately are placed as Review Scores, yet hold broken links.

    Steel Battalion

    - 404 Review Links (Gaming Trend)

    Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly
    https://www.igdb.com/games/fatal-frame-ii-crimson-butterfly
    - Inaccurate count of 3 reviews on Game Page, but 2 reviews listed on Critic Reviews breakdown page.

  8. Do it by using both:

Content filtering (content-based filtering): a user rates games and/or adds games to their personal library or lists, and then is shown stuff that has similar metadata to the games that that user has rated highly and/or added to their library. For example, games within the same genres, games from the same developers, games released in the same year, etc.

Collaborative filtering (user-library-based filtering): a user rates games and/or adds games to their personal library, and then is shown stuff that other users who highly rated those same games and/or have those same games in their…

  10. Noting the [CN] China region as well as [KR] Korea, but it is worth adding that releasing in mainland China is and has been EXCEPTIONALLY difficult for western publishers, which is why most devs have historically opted to release in [HK] Honk Kong or [TW] Taiwan and let those sales be an "in" to the region.

This is interesting, so even though TW or HK release are a way to enter the Mainland market, they are actually different? in terms of content and/or release dates?

Sounds like we need to investigate this further.
If you happen to have example of some titles please share them in a comment in here as that would help.

    Thanks!

  11. Please add options to order our lists by name, date of addition, date of launch, etc. The lists options are too scarce!

  12. It would be great if your database had a link to live stream channels for the game.

For example GTA V could point you to these links.

    https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Grand%20Theft%20Auto%20V

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOquqcRMJmURiGfEnaitptg

    https://www.facebook.com/gaming/game/grandtheftautov

Not sure if there are other similar sites... But also if you add this please open it up to the API as well!

    Thanks!

  13. Add Brazil and UK region for game release dates, because there are games released specificaly for those regions. Mainly Brazil, because there the Master System and Zeebo consoles have many Brazil only games released.

  14. When using a reference ID field, such as requesting https://api.igdb.com/v4/games/ where release_dates.platform [48,49,6]; as shown in an example in the API docs, the API returns a syntax error "You are trying to compare and exact array with an non array field: platform". This seems to be true of any field which is a reference ID when using this syntax. the array OR syntax (48,49,6) works fine.

  15. To build up our personal libraries on IGDB, we wouldn't have to manually search for and add each game. We could simply connect our IGDB accounts to our accounts on all of those services, and IGDB would automatically populate our libraries with the games that exist in our libraries on each of those retailers. Steam, for example, has a 'sign in with Steam' function that IGDB could implement, and we could use it to connect our IGDB accounts to our Steam accounts. Other game retailers have similar functions; that's how GOG Galaxy 2.0's integrations work.
    This way, in IGDB I'd…

  17. A user wanted to sort the release dates of platform versions by date and get the name of the version. But could not since platform-version-release-dates field platform_version is missing.

    Example query:

    https://api.igdb.com/v4/platformversionrelease_dates

    fields *, platform_version.name; sort date desc; limit 500;

Expected: A sorted list of platform version release dates and the name of the platform version name

Actual: A sorted list of platform version release dates without the platform version data.

  18. Some lesser played games don't have an icon, a streamer should be able to submit an icon to Twitch after streaming the game for a certain amount of time.

    Hey there!
By icons, do you mean the (game) box arts/covers?

If so, we have plans to improve coverage of those on Twitch via IGDB covers, but also eventually help streamers and viewers add to those on IGDB.

    Thanks!

  19. Something that can become rather repetitive and even prevent users from adding all the Add-ons for a given title is repetitively entering the same data points over and over.

It would be extremely helpful if you set an entry to be an Addon, Expansion, Version or other relevant entry to copy all data relevant data from the original title.

    Such as:
    - Categorization fields
    - Company fields
    - Websites
    - Engine
    - Age Ratings

    Ex. LittleBigPlanet

Hey! Excellent suggestion, in fact we have something very similar in our Backlog already, with a ‘inherit data from parent’ feature.

It’s just at an idea stage for now, but we’ll look into planning in in accordance with our roadmap as soon as possible.
    Cheers!

  20. When Bundles include titles of a long running series, it is possible to encounter times that have too many titles to display with the basic name.

    Ex. Mega Man (1).
