  1. In lists, I see that you can export those lists into csv files. However, when I go to view them, they don't have the user's personal rating, which I feel like is an important data point if someone wants to see their lists.

Essentially, this request is for a new column alongside the average user rating called "Personal Rating".

If no personal rating exists, it can either be 0 or empty.

Thank you for all your hard work!

  2. Previously, I had been able to submit coverart for games on Twitch via a form located on the Twitch support website. This was a critical feature of Twitch to ensure that smaller and/or older games on the Twitch platform wouldn't be left with incorrect or generic artwork. However, as of late, my submissions of coverart via the form have gone unanswered, and the link to the form has been removed from Twitch's support site as well.

For context, the form is located here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeHi3k8F8Vmu_uayd-ynHWh0fZ8O5FkAc3Smp4lJrj6r-I5eg/viewform

And it was referenced on this support page: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/adding-a-game-and-box-art-to-the-directory?language=en_US

In the past, similar issues have occurred…

  3. I'd like a way to link releases and publishers. For instance, a game might have been published by Midway in North America and Taito in Japan. Right now there's no way to distinguish such information, and both appear as publishers with no additional information. Also, a game might have been published by different companies at different times on the same platform - this would also be helpful to be able to differentiate.

  4. Have the ability to add links to the Internet Archive where older games can be streamed legally.

  5. According to contribution guidelines, "Genre is the first tier in our 3-tier categorization system. Choose the most fitting genre(s) to broadly describe the game."
"Indie" is not the primary, broad description for a game. Maybe in 2007, but not today. They are puzzles/platformers/etc before they are indie. Indie is better suited as a keyword, if anything.

  6. Allow a link to a theme song (or theme songs) for a game. For example a direct link to a song.

Heya! This could indeed be interesting, however there’s a lot of possible legal investigation to look into when it comes to music copyrights.

In the short term it’s hard to say how we could approach this. Long term we of course would love to expand our data and game info with music, sounds like an obvious fit!

    Hey there!

Could you clarity what do you mean by data in this case, is it to do with the lists and ratings in particular?

Curious to learn more about such a use case, is there a particular need to re-upload the exported CSV or Excel document rather than use the website?

    Thanks!

  9. Maybe this is just me, but I almost always miss something when I edit, update or submit a New Game, and never see it until I see the full list of changes on the Pending Submission page.

It might help to have an "Are you sure?" page between Previewing all Changes and Submit/Update.

There’s a good suggestion here, although it could also add some friction. In particular for users doing a lot of edits in a row.

Adding a page between would add extra pages and clicks, making the contribution flow slower.

I would picture more like having a recap visible at all times through in the sidebar maybe, somewhat like an online store shopping cart (-Cover, Keywords X2, Genre, Screenshots X5 etc..).

  10. It would be the desireable behaviour from a database like this to treat equally to all the information but in this case Unreal Engine seems to be in privilegie in Twich and here appearing as "a person" and also a engine, a game itself and everywhere else... Not the same case as the others.

In this case Godot Engine is a game itself done with itself... Yeah Godot is a "game" done in Godot Engine... It would be seen as Core in UE (wich is also there in the list, surprise)

It would be good for equality that all users…

    Hello!

Sorry not sure i fully grasp the issue at hand. Currently Twitch does not ingest game engine data from IGDB. So if there is a tag existing for UE that isn’t coming from IGDB.

As a database we do indeed try to be as neutral as possible, and all the engine data we have connected to games get the same treatment in the form of a discovery profile page.
Here’s the one for Godot Engine: https://www.igdb.com/game_engines/godot-engine

If you have more info on it please feel free to contribute to it, as all of IGDB is user contributable :)

    Thanks!

  12. Have a non-custom list like want/playing/played that lists all companies you have added as favourite.
The icon could be present in the company pages.

  13. Hi,
recently a super-admin had to merge two games wich actually was the same game, which just changed name and modality meantime.

In the fact I'm talking about Pagan Online (Action-RPG MMO) which became Pagan Absent Gods (Action-RPG Single Player).

While before they were registered as two different games, with two different pages, now they got merged as single page on Pagan Online's page (renaming the game), marking Pagan Absent Gods' old page as dupicate.

The consequences of the merging, anyway, are doubtful, because:

    • In IGDB website: if you search both for Pagan Online or for Pagan: Absent Gods, you…

  14. Sometimes users may not log onto the site for a time, while there may be pending questions from Admins that may require feedback or clarification to get approved.

Having the ability to enable Email Notifications for new comments on pending entries could help notify users in a more convenient way.

Hey! There is very much a need for this absolutely. However it wouldn’t be a simple implementation at this point of time.

We’ll definitely stay in touch when we proceed forward!
    thanks

  15. Something that would mirror my preferences from Twitch, as well as save battery life on mobile phones/laptops and be easier on the eyes from all the stark white would be the ability to have a Site-wide Dark Mode.

There are a few displays this would probably help as well, like you're daily output graph on the Karma Hunters page, which can be difficult to view on some LCD monitors at non-optimal viewing angles.

  17. Hey!

Seeing that there are already both screenshots, and Artworks it would be great to also be able to add game logos.
I make covers often from official artworks so I usually end-up downloading transparent logos at the same time anyway.

    Thanks!

Hey! yes this is a great suggestion, we’ve definitely been wanting to expand our Game Media coverage with logos.
    Especially for PressKits for example.

  18. There could be a way to link a game to another as a sequel or prequel, what would be good for game series like Metal Gear and The Legend of Zelda, for example. In the game page, there could be a place saying "Sequel to "game X" and "Prequel of "game Y".

Hey! we had a chat about this internally and landed on the fact it could become problematic, so we wanted to double check your suggestion in more details.
How would we define the order within a series? As this could be seen either as chronologically by release, or by story.

For example, MGS3 being the first one in the story, yet the 3rd one by release date. This could prove very divisive either way.

Another issue that could be problematic are differences in the order by region. Final Fantasy is an infamous case, where FFVI was released as FFIII in North America for example.

Was this the sort of approach you had in mind with such a feature? Let us know :)

  19. There is a variety of arcade games on IGDB, but there is no differentiation between the different arcade hardware. For example, Chunithm and maimai Finale are both on IGDB under the platform of simply "Arcade", despite Chunithm running on the Sega Nu 1.1 board, while maimai Finale runs on the Sega RingEdge 2.

While there are a lot of platforms that would have to be added should this change be made, I do believe that this change follows the mission of IGDB, as the website strives to be a collection of all relevant information for a game, and there are…

It's an interesting data point and it might be worth having in the future. However, before adding more in-depth data we want to update our platform page and make sure that the data structure is solid. After that we think it would be worth looking into additional Arcade platforms and differences as well. Thanks!

    Hi!

Could you give us more information what you mean in this case? By status do you mean adding a new one along side Alpha, Beta, Early Access, Cancelled etc..?

If so how would you define Dropped, it sounds like it would be similar to cancelled, as in the development has been in definitely put on hold.

    Thanks!
