Badges/Emotes

How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

If you need help:
This forum is for ideas only. If you need help, please check out our help portal for tons of articles that may answer your questions. If you still need help, you can reach out to our support team in the help portal as well!

Appeals or commentary on suspension decisions, support requests, suggestions disparaging others, and non-constructive feedback will be closed without comment.

    Liebes Twitch-Team,

  2. Let emotes, like a lick emote, be approved or when rejected give feedback on how to improved it so it will be approved the next time the streamer submits it.

  3. On October 21st, 2024, Twitch will be deprecating the Game Developer badge. This badge has, in my opinion, a pretty important benefit for both game developers and streamers alike: It weeded out viewers that would pose as game developers.

I can't tell you how many times I heard from streamers that they were glad our studio had badges verifying who we were, as they often had new viewers claim they worked on our game. Knowing that the badge existed made them skeptical, especially as they'd seen us in their chat before.

With the badge's upcoming removal, this opens the door…

Thank you for your detailed submission and articulating the usefulness of the badge for game developers. We agree with the sentiment and additional context can be found in the deprecation announcement. You are correct that there was an increase in requests to verify organizations. This process is also used to gain access to other features such as Drops campaigns and game analytics. Product updates to limit requests for a global badge and remove confusion, such as enabling the badge only on a matching category as you mention, will take considerable time while continuing to block new developers from using these organization features. This change will reestablish the 1-week SLA for organization requests and an improved implementation of the game developer badge can be considered in the future while we enable new game developers to onboard.

  4. Twitch spends a lot of time and resources monitoring/removing emotes. Whether it's responding to reports on "inappropriate" emotes that "violate Twitch guidelines" or declining emotes uploaded by creators, Twitch could reduce the amount of emote management it has to do in perpetuity by creating an 18_plus attribute that could be applied to all emotes. This will give creators the freedom to upload emotes without the fear of violating guidelines that are designed to protect minors from cyber bullying, being exposed to sensitive and/or sexual content.

The addition of an "18_plus" attribute will give Twitch the ability to:

  6. Rather then having slots for static and slots for animated, how about an option to just let us choose per emote? I think there are many that are underutilizing there emotes purely cause they don't have enough of the slots they need, ie streamers that have maxed out static but empty animated emote slots, and vice versa.

If there is a technical limitation due to things like file size, perhaps a trade feature? Ie, trade an unused animated slot to gain 2 extra static, or vice versa. Perhaps even implementing a slider feature to adjust allocations.

    For a very strange…

  9. I think that that since we already have follower emotes (albeit non animated) and tiered subscription emotes, we should have a smaller selection of emotes for turbo users that are in channel. Maybe 3 normal and 2 animated? I really think since we're being paid for them to be in the channel, that they should have some benefits for being turbo so they don't feel forced to subscribe after already paying for no ads and us gaining from that.

  10. Let viewers buy (and possibly trade) global emotes or emote packs from developers and games. Similar to the Steam points shop, game developers could upload emotes from their games, and viewers could earn them through twitch drops, and/or buy them from a points store. The currency for buying emotes could be either the existing Bits currency, or a new "viewer points" currency earned from subbing to any channel, gifting, bits or even just viewing channels similar to channel points, but on a global level.
In the future, this "points shop" could also be expanded to include profile frames and other…

  12. Allow us to toggle founders badge in chat identity section like you can with bit badges/other global badges, you can only either fully disable the founders badge for every channel you are a founder in or enable for every channel you are in, some channels I want the founders to show, others I don't.

I don't know why we don't have this simple customisability function, and why do you have to toggle it under Security & Privacy settings???

  13. Dynamic emotes! Imagine emotes that adapt to the streamer in real-time. For example, in DJ streams, they could dance or change colors to the beat; in FPS games, they could carry the streamer's in-game weapon or wear their gear. Other possibilities include emotes that change based on viewer count or change to seasonal themes.

I was thinking maybe allowing streamers to upload emote variations under the same title but tagging them based on a trigger. For example, happyhello, happygoodbye, happyday, happy_night. In this case, when a user uses the "happy" emote, it would see if the…

  14. The option for a viewer to remove a unlocked bit emote from their respected emote picker library.

People can fall out, and sometimes the falling out can leave less then savoury memories and if that person is a streamer you supported with bits, then you have unlocked their emotes, it would be nice to either hide or remove those emtoes from your emote picker and not the streamer's emote library.

One day you may rekindle the friendship, but not always and emotes can make you remember the bad times with afore mentioned streamer.

  16. Context: herokerrey was hosting a charity stream and Twitch donated to her charity for a 'name on body's incentive. Kelley, very flustered, misspelled Twitch as TWITH which started a silly meme interaction on Twitter.

With Twitch retweeting the mistake and going as far as changing their profile picture to TWITH, it would be memorable to keep the meme forever as an emote. Please consider this silly little mistake as a global emote and Kelley will never forget her C's again!

  17. The DJ club was launched with the creation of the DJ category on Twitch. At the same time, the IRL creator club was already created. The DJs got parties and an awesome emote called bopbop. It looked like a rainbow gummy bear jamming it out. I propose a touching grass emote to be released for IRL globally similarly to the release of BopBop. You would be required to watch a certain amount of time in the IRL category to obtain it.
It's related to IRL and getting outside and would be highly coveted by every type of user as it's…
