Do not impliment the AI auto clip tool
Twitch has implemented a sign up for an AI alpha auto clip tool. This is very unethical in many ways to not just content creation but also to things outside content creation.
I ask twitch to remove this sign up and not engage in any use of AI when it comes to content creation.
Facts about AI usage
- Google’s single Iowa data center alone consumed 1 billion gallons of water in 2024. The first way AI uses water is for cooling. Data centers run thousands of powerful computers around the clock. As these machines crunch numbers and manage data, they generate a lot of heat.
To keep everything running smoothly, water is often used in cooling systems. This can mean circulating water through pipes to absorb heat or using evaporative cooling towers that release warm air.
Ai is trained to use already created content for training with out user consent. This has already been happening on social media. Twitch's AI clip tool ''claims'' they will not use user generated clips with out consent for training to assume what constitutes as high engagement moments for clip creation.
- AI data centers now generate 2.5–3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions, officially surpassing the aviation industry’s 2% contribution while growing 15% annually.
It is very important that people speak up and say no to the AI clip tool especially partners and ambassadors as this tool is very harmful to the community.
Turning it off as an option is not enough.

There is zero reason to add ai to this site. We are here to create, not to have our faces and voices stripped away and fed to a planet-destroying plagiarism machine.

Not to mention the water used for AI, freshwater—what we need to drink and irrigate our farms—is only 3% of the world’s water. It is a finite resource, nearly two-thirds of our world's population experiences severe water shortages for at least one month a year. Guess what happens? Some of the water used for cooling is used up and does not return to our world.
How many times have users and creators said they don't want any AI, any sort at all, your company is dumb and the CEO needs to go. We DO NOT want this, we have ways to make our own easier clipping with human interaction and fan interaction. Stream Deck, Chat Commands ect, this AI clipping is not a tool its an anti-human and anti-Earth scraper. If our subs and ad revenue get gutted even more into your greedy pockets to fund this AI you deserve to be abandoned by all your creators. No one wants the internet full of fake tools that steal other than the thieves themselves.
I have removed my turbo sub and my whole wallet for the foreseeable future until proper community wanted changes are made with Twitch not trash no one wants. If it comes down to it I'll leave for a different platform as well. I separated my channel from Sound Alerts, Tangia, and Blerp for their GEN AI TTS and art usage, I'll cut you off too. Shame shame shame.

STOP WITH AI.
YOU ARE RUINING HUMANITY IN THE LONG RUN.
Will people actually think of the bigger picture of why AI is an issue? PLEASE.
Yes, it can make things easy at the time, but in the long run you are ruining us.NO TO AI!

Twitch please I am begging you not to do this. You are going to lose a lot of people and yes that includes me.

I do not like that my voice can just get grabbed to make me say things I wouldn't say. I do not want that to be easier to do by having a scraped database of my voice. Scraped videos of me to be used to fake me saying things or doing things. I know people can already do this manually but must we make it easier for them?

"yeah just throw AI at it" while having absolutely no thought about the actual costs
destroying highlights because storage was too costly but now making a bunch of clips nobody is going to watch? yeah great job, well thought out and definitely something people want
i'm being sarcastic
stuff like this is why i don't push subs. what's the point? there's no value and it's just fueling ridiculous, anti-streamer decisions like this.

Really? REALLY? What, is someone paying Twitch off to make such a braindead decision?
I will literally obliterate my account in an instant if this gets implemented. Twitch is not the only streaming platform out there, and I can always take my stuff elsewhere.
Absolutely tone-deaf decisionmaking, ever since AI became a 'thing', it's like corpo dweebs suddenly lost more of their already-diminished walnuts that pass as 'braincells'.
Literally based off the other comments here? This is the opposite of whatever solution was hoped for with all the shortcomings I and other streamers have encountered in our time here on Twitch.
I'm tired. We're tired. We are all. So. TIRED.

Please don't join the long list of companies i am deeply disappointed in and removing from my life. AI is horrible for the environment, the bills for data center upkeep/utilities is being passed on to much of the nearby working class, making their cost of living even higher. Generative AI is constantly being trained on creators art/music etc. without their consent across so many platforms. Why would i want an AI scrape my streams to make clips? That is a thing my community members do so we can have special memories together. I don't want that replaced with tools or bots of any kind. You did also just destroy people's archives of highlights because it was "too expensive." So why are you trying to make a tool that will just generate heaps of junk clips? It's such a waste of energy, and an even bigger waste of your server resources. Your users are the only way you have a platform, so why are you trying to replace their interactions?

For a system which will not let us have more than 100 hours of highlights, this idea which will cost far more, deliver far less value, cause more harm, and increase streamer workload is absolutely unhinged. Do not attempt to use the plagiarism machine on your creators.

Short answer; I hate auto-clips, I hate generative AI, get rid of this and stop it before it starts.
Long answer; I'm going to get very logistical here, since I think that is likely to reach Twitch the best.
1. AI, in any form, is a PR nightmare right now. Why you would participate when many stores, websites and companies have been taking major financial hits is beyond me. GenAI, especially, goes against the creators and their communities that make Twitch what it is.
2. Speaking of communities; this will alienate a major backbone of Twitch's userbase that makes it work, which are clippers. They are the heart and soul of every community on this website; people who go out of their way to capture special moments or funny mishaps for their streamers. Those clips, in turn, get used to bring more traffic back to the streamers individually but also Twitch at large.
3. There just isn't a reason for this tool, honestly. Smaller streamers are already hand-clipping things that they think were fun, and their small communities' will clip what they thought was memorable. Big streamers don't need the help; they can hire Clippers or their massive communities will likely already be submitting handfuls of clips for them to look through.
Please reconsider launching this "tool". All it will do is tank user and viewer levels, ruin any good faith Twitch has left, and is likely to destroy not just the reputation of the platform but the lively hood of the creators on it. Listen to the people who actually care about what they're doing and not investors looking for a quick buck. It'll be better in the long run.

Twitch, you destroyed streamers' highlights if they had more than 100 hours claiming it was too expensive to store that minuscule amount of data. In what universe can you possibly think this move would be cheaper than continuing to allow streamers to store over 100 hours of highlights?
This is a stupid idea in a long list of stupid ideas Twitch leadership has either bandied about or implemented. Stop it. Stop being stupid.

A Twitch AI auto clipping tool would ultimately produce a mountain of junk data to store, causing needless server overload for the entirety of Twitch as useless clips are created, never or barely watched, and only occasionally deleted. Importantly, this is very likely to make vast numbers of streamers either migrate off of Twitch entirely, or disable all clipping abilities on their channels just to be safe from having their brands compromised. There is also a real and very likely possibility that such a tool will quickly begin to cannibalize its own productions to build its dataset (making it progressively worse at its job, not better) and forcing your overhead costs to skyrocket as it does nothing useful for anyone. The only thing I can guarantee is that such a tool would provide no payoff for Twitch as a platform that could possibly make up for the permanent loss of a significant amount of its revenue-producing talents. The only reason Twitch should implement an AI automatic clipping tool is if it actively and sincerely *wants* to fail as a business and a platform for content creators. The whole thing that makes live streaming services unique is the human aspect, that we get to interact with the host and others in the chat, it's a connection. By trying to manufacture this artificially will undermine the one advantage over watching pre-recorded content.

I'm a small streamer but if Twitch implements this feature I will cease streaming on Twitch immediately. I have already stopped playing games due to companies implementing AI so I will not hesitate to do so and I would urge all of my friends to do the same.

This is such a waste of resources, in so many ways, both financial (for Twitch) and environmental.
We already have access to metrics of our streams, and can see where to clip stuff ourselves.
Plus streamers and viewers already have decent tools to clip during streams. -

Even outside the obvious glaring issues with AI like its environmental impact and the slippery slope of this likely meaning every stream VOD will be fed into a generative AI model and possibly used by the model without the consent of the creator, this just seems like it'd be a really stupid idea???
Like, I don't get many clips when I stream, but I absolutely prefer that to thinking at the end of the stream "Welp time to wade through a deluge of AI clip slop to delete all the ones I don't want on my channel"
Do not add this.

There is no need for AI. Twitch has been doing way too much that it’s becoming unnecessary. If it’s not this with AI it’s something else that either is a detriment to the streamers on the platform or to the platform in general.
