Proposal for a Retro Twitch Creator Club
Twitch Creator Clubs were recently announced as a space to collaborate and network. Finamenon and I would like to propose a Retro Creator Club. We are collaborating on this UserVoice to gauge interest and to show Twitch the positive influence it will have on the community.
What are the benefits of a Creator Club? A Retro Creator Club would give us a centralized location to discover other Retro-focus broadcasters. It would allow us to ideate and share strategies about a sometimes technical and complicated form of streaming. Giving us a space to share information with each other breaks the barriers to entry to Retro broadcasting. We want to show any creators on Twitch that this is a fun way to stream. A space to share info also allows us to help problem solve solutions for capturing and creating Retro style content, which is often the case since there are a lot of nuances to capturing classic consoles and PC’s.
The Retro Creator Club would be a space to foster a sense of belonging to an amazing community. The Retro community is tight knit so having one location where we can bond and help each other to elevate our content creation, is a major win. We want to create a space that allows people to share their passion for Retro games and showcase their talent and strategies that have been instrumental in their creator journey. It would also be fun to have a space where we can discuss our love for video game music, genres, playstyles or anything that would help us find common interests to get a better sense of each other as colleagues on this platform.
Retro is an ever-growing category, with an audience base that will trend upwards as more games begin to fall under this category. As more interest is gauged more people may want to get into Retro, so Creator Clubs will be an incredible tool to help us discover new talent pools to collaborate and share audiences with. Looking for a Retro streamer to watch? The Retro Creator Club will be a great place to find your next favorite streamer.
A Retro Speedrunning space should also be included in the Creator Club as it is a major part of the Retro community, and it could be argued that it was the genesis of the categories creation. It would also be wonderful to have a space where Retro speedrunners could share strategies.
The Retro community often hosts themed events like DOScember, Amiga August, Sega showcases, and other console or genre specific shows. We have seen these events create a greater sense of unity and we often start prep for the next event immediately after so having a Creator Club as a space to source talent would make putting on these shows easier. These events spark happiness for the viewer who either relive cherished moments of their favorite games or are wondering how they missed a game and want to also play them for the first time. Giving us a space to collaborate and create fun events like this or organize something exciting for front page/charity/community events would be impactful. Speaking of charity, the creator club would also be a great tool to help organize a charity activity. Fostering a space where we can make good things happen on Twitch is paramount.
Overall, we want to facilitate camaraderie and a general space to connect and help each other. Also, a space to share our joy for what we love most, Retro gaming!
Thank you for reading and if you feel as strongly as we do about our incredible Retro community, please consider sharing this UserVoice on socials to amplify and encourage people to vote. Leave a comment and let us know how a Retro Creator Club will help you. Thank you!

+1 to this Idea a thousand times.
The retro category has always been a comfy place to watch other people play great games of the past and discover and learn about everyone else's favorite classic games and share stories of nostalgia. Having a Creator Club would help make the community and category even better than it already is.

Retro is my favorite category on Twitch by far and anything that helps the community as a whole is a big step forward. Being a viewer I'd love to find more channels with this creator club. For streamers, I'm excited to see their collaborative efforts made much easier which adds to the possibilities for future events, in turn creating even more for viewers to look forward to and participate in!

Full support of this! I dont think there is a better example of a category or community that needs a tool , group, club like this. Retro has always been full of the kindest and most supportive people on Twitch. Having a closer connection with Twitch when we organize large retro events certainly wont hurt us.
Also thanks Ash for the Dosember shoutout! If anyone is curious of that event you can find out more at https://dosember.com/ (It is almost time to start planning this years event)

This sounds like a wonderful idea! The community is kind and the amount of games you find just by seeing a stream is incredible. Nothing but love in this community.

also helps sort out Apex players abusing the category often. Or random so-n-sos just taking the tag before it is popular. People who actually play older games 15+ years of release date could be displayed and not to much modern silliness clogging the selection.

This would be a great idea and would be of great help if I ever decide to start streaming myself!

A superb idea. The retro gaming community - from circle to circle - has been absolutely wonderful in my experience. The community has been full of kind and helpful people who are enthusiastic for each other.
This can also be an excellent help to those who haven't streamed yet but wish to get started. Those who are apprehensive and don't know what to do usually don't know where to look to begin; this should hopefully eliminate doubts and guesswork for those trying to get their foot in the door.

100% vouching this.
The Retro community is already super knit and helpful with each others, but having a space where the knowledge can be shared and events can be organized more easily would be amazing!
As someone who just recently started streaming Retro games, I know that I wouldn't have been able to set things up without the help of friends in the Retro community. Having an official space would make things easier for people who aren't already lucky to be friends with Retro experts!

Absolutely a great idea! Having a space like this for folks streaming retro would be amazing - especially for how spread out streamers can be over the world, and for the diverse types of systems/games/etc covered!
