As a long-term patron of both YouTube and Twitch, (and Twitch affiliate) I have always found that Twitch and partners have had significantly better policies and moderation. As a livestreaming platform, Twitch has always reigned supreme in my mind. However, one chapter (and siginificant investment) of Twitch’s journey that I think could be interesting would be support for long-form videos to be uploaded to the platform similar to YouTube or Video. Twitch’s dynamic highlights and clipping tools would already boost the popularity of streams and videos and would allow for more reach with streamers. It’s no secret that YouTube’s current reputation is declining due to their unfair content and user moderation practices, and the release of a long-form service through Twitch would be a game changer for not only streamers, but viwers as well. Regardless, this would not only be a major business decision but also a significant step in a completely new direction. It’s understandable to be hesitant, but personally I believe it would benefit Twitch and partners’ long-term success.
