multiple audio channels
Streams should be able to encode audio into separate audio channels, so that users can independently mix/select audio for each channel. For example, one channel could be music, another could be the streamer's voice, and another for the game/application's audio. In this example, if you were already playing music that you wanted to listen to, you could disable the streamer's music. Or, if you have trouble hearing the streamer's voice, you could turn that up. Or, if you don't want to hear the streamer or music, you could mute them and just listen to the game. I think it would also have a secondary benefit that you could independently remove audio channels in cases of copyright violation, so that the rest of the vod is still good even if there happened to be flagged music on one channel.

Streamer have to put music in separate channel so I can optionally mute and unmute it by button.
If streamer config audio this way then new mute icon appears near normal mute. -

I would upvote this as well, but Twitch limits voting..... asdf. -

Bump!! Could also be integrated with the existing music track DMCA stuff so that streamers don't get flagged unnecessarily

It would be great to be able to control the volumes of a streamers game volume, and caster separately. Example: ESL_CSGO their caster volume is loud and the in game volume is low.

was about to write exactly same thing. I enjoy watching streams while I'm playing myself but I prefer to play listening my own playlist, very often I have to make a choice - Spotify or Twitch.
It shouldn't be hard to implement such option (even if it would be a paid option like TwitchTurbo) since most of streamers steam music separately and they don't include it in VODs. -

I think streamers should have option to stream audio channels seperately, so viewers could change their volume according to own preferences. Sometimes you just want to chill to music or focus on the game. Also sometimes it just plain hard to hear what streamers have to say if they have adjusted volume levels badly. I think there should be default volume levels adjusted by streamer and then you could change them

Exactly, not everybody have the same taste of music. Even being able to volume down the music that streamer wishes to listen, would be cool. We don't even need to choose the music on Twitch.

Hello, there is an idea with a choice of audio streams. In Dota2, commentators muffle the sound. It would be great if there were 2 threads with no commentators. The fact is that you can watch the stream with music. With two audio streams, you could watch the stream accompanied by music.
In the twitch player settings, add a choice of audio streams.

That would be awesome in full support widepeepoHappy!

@kevinodoo, it doesn't, OBS just gives you the ability to send an audio track through a different channel which isn't recorded on the vod.

OBS already has this feature!

This is something that I've really wanted for a long time over a lot of different services. It would require support on a few levels (streaming software, the streamers themselves, and Twitch of course), but many video codecs already support it. One drawback would be the extra bandwidth it would take (or extra processing on Twitch's end if they decided to mix them together for each user). A potential strategy to avoid that issue is having one or a handful of default balances which Twitch would mix for you (eg. only talking or 50-50), and then an option to have a custom balance which would be processed client-side. Another thing that would be good is a third track for game audio, or (even better) an arbitrary number of tracks chosen by the streamer. I personally spend more time on Youtube than Twitch, but it would be great to see at least one service offering this feature (and maybe it would even become standard).

I'd like to add that this option would be really useful for people with APD or other disorders or neuro divergency that struggle to understand audio informations (such as the streamer talking) while music is playing

What about adding an option/button to mute the music the streamer is playing? Sometimes i don't like the music so an option to only hear the streamer voice would be great.

Hi there, first things first I don't even know if it is possible and how it could be but, i think it might be nice to have differents channels for the voice of our streamer and the music he used, this way we can set the stream audio like we want. We like a streamer but the music he listen to cause you nightmares at night or simply, you find the music too loud relative to the voice you can up the volume or down the volume like you wish and experience the streams like you want.
Like I said, i don't even know if it is possible but it could be nice !

It would be great if streamers could be able to stream multi channel audio, and viewers could have a mixer option so we could adjust levels for ourselves or turn off audio channels in full such as game sound, music, or so forth.

This would have to be enabled from the streamer's end, but would benefit viewers who don't enjoy the streamer's music. Enable a way to control the volume of the music of the stream separate from the rest of the stream content (game sound, mic).

It would be awesome to have the choice to listen to your own music (as a watcher of the stream) while listening to the stream when the streamer puts its own music in the stream. If I were to do it now, there would be my music playing AND the streamer music playing which is just a mess of sounds.
Honestly sometimes I don't listen to a streamer just because I don't want to listen to the streamer music because either I don't like the music background or because I wanted to simultaneously watch something else with sounds on my end and I don't want listening to a mess of sounds (e.g. any other video or music, another stream, etc).
There could be 2 sound channels (1 for background and 1 for other sounds like streamer mic, in-game sounds, etc) with individual volume control (including mute option) handed over to the users. I would see those 2 volume control to be defaulted at equal volume, but at least we would have the option to mute one streamer's music when desired.
Thanks and regards,

OBS Studio already supports multiple channels for local recording, so I guess if the Twitch ingest supported multiple channels, it could be easily implemented.
Aside from being able to mute Copyright-violating content selectively, I second the idea that multiple channels would be valuable for viewers wanting to selectively choose what to listen to.
For example, I might want to listen to the streamer's voice, but the game they are playing is too noisy, so it would be cool to be able to disable the game audio.I think it would be nice if streamers get to choose whether to multi-channel or not (just like when setting up audio channels for local recording in OBS), the Twitch player would only need to offer a combo-box for viewers to choose what to enable/disable.
And if the option to individually edit/delete/upload audio channels on VODs was added, that would open many possibilities, from removing Copyright infringing parts of the audio manually, to uploading replacement tracks, or maybe even adding commentary tracks, or dubbing to other languages... But that's maybe going too far right now XD.

I absolutely love this idea and have secretly wished for it numerous times when watching chillstreams - like crittervision and the like - that are visually very calm, but sometimes have some godawful music playing. We know twitch is technically capable of receiving multiple audio streams as that’s literally how soundtrack works, so we know this is technically feasible if not an “advanced” streamer feature as it’d have to be correctly configured on the streamer end to work. It would require a completely new video control UI though, which is a fairly massive, high impact piece of work. Big platforms are often scared of big changes. Still, I’d love to see this happen one day. Giving both creators and watchers greater control over the content they enjoy can ultimately only be a good thing!
